It's interesting you mentioned Russia 'cause that's my country. And funnily after watching over 150 coming out videos (mostly from US) I have a feeling that in a certain way it's harder for gay teenagers in most regions of the US than here. Like, adult life as a gay person is definitely easier in the US because of gay rights and everything. No doubt about that. And you can't really be openly gay here because you'll be facing a lot of backlash. BUT. There is a but. While your relationship with the world is harder, your relationship with yourself is arguably easier here. And there is 1 reason for this - religion. Even though about 1/2 of population here claim they're christians, most of them are people who never opened the Bible in their entire life and visit the church once in a blue moon. We don't have religious schools, we don't have Sunday church thing, we don't really have all those huge religious associations galore, none of that. And while kids do hear f-slurs all the time and how being gay is a terrible thing, there is no real justification for that, it's more like "it's just amoral 'cause reasons". There is no existential "explanation" that God himself hates gays and they're all doomed to hell. And that single thing alone fuels 3 different issues in religious regions: 1) Kids really struggling with self-acceptance ('cause "I don't want God to hate me, I don't want to go to hell" - it's way harder to go against the "laws of the universe" than the laws of society). 2) Even good parents often freaking out when they learn that their kids are gay. 3) Bullies feeling more justified in their actions, like they're fighting a holy war or smth. But in irreligious regions like Russia these issues are less manifested so it's easier to accept yourself + if you know that your parents are not homophobic, you can be certain that they will accept you and there won't be all the crying 'cause "oh no, I can't believe it, my beloved son will go to hell now... sweetie, did you try not being gay?". Well, at least that's how it was here until the last few years. At the present day state propaganda works non-stop bombaring citizens with all kinds of nonsense and we're just living in a surreal crazy world that makes The Onion sketches pale in comparison.
13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’ 14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
9 To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people-robbers, evildoers, adulterers-or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’
Hmm thanks for the comment. Though trust me I know all these passages. I have done too much thinking about all of this. I believe in Jesus, he said he has forgiven us and our sins. Also you didn't put in the rest of some of these passages which are also equally important. I do thank you for your input. :)
hmm this comment in general is everything you just described. Selfish loveless and telling others they are not Christians. I am not meaning to be rude nor am I judging you as I once thought like this and was also raised like this. But then I saw the light, yes I do think God wants me to be gay. Do you realize how many gay men there are who hate Christianity? To show them that not all Christians are so hateful and that God is good, that's what evangelizing is all about.
I respect your beliefs and everything but please...God is great for a reason. His ability to forgive us... He gave us freewill.. We are all Gods creation. I am a Christian, but trust me when I say you are more then likely one of these honest to goodness people that take everything in our religion to an extreme. If you can't love a person for who they are despite this and just bash them with verses from the bible which you most likely had to look up.. shame on you... SHAME ON YOU... God loves all
Hmm you don't really know me. Nor do I know you. I have a feeling you sin and will sin in the future. And to God all sin is equal. I still have my morals, just because I am attracted to guys doesn't mean I am going to act on the urges. I still try hard to be a good person. Also since we're using bible verses....
Why thank you! :)
Handsome.
