  • This outing was pre Barrowcliffe but I forgot to upload it.
This was just his second ever time seeing cross country fences and I couldn't be prouder :o) Took a lot away from this schooling session. Really want some proper cross country lessons with him now, the kid is showing so much potential. Still can't believe he used to be a racehorse!

Whilst I appreciate the high cost of professional tutoring, the amount of wasted emotion, legs in your horse, fuel wasted from bum runs from stupid or needless mistakes surely must make the cost of good support worth it! Just pick individual top dressage, show jump, Xcountry professionals to whom you aspire to follow and pay that money. I am sure (film all of it for you to keep revisiting) the lessons, tips, advice, observations and encouragement will be worth every penny and every moment of your time too. You guys are stars of the future. 👏👏👏

He's flying! Taking it all in his astride - quite literally with that massive flyer - well sat!

He is so bold, quite happy taking a stride out, but if you hold his hand he will learn every time he jumps, absolutely love his attitude and your progression. Don't worry about expensive training until you both find each others way of going 🎉 xx

He is a lovely stamp of a horse, big and bold, a lotta horse for such a petite rider but you have a lovely partnership with him that will take you far. A super and potentially very successful horse in the making, fingers crossed for you both.

Thank you so much ♥️ I’ve been really poorly today and that’s cheered me up. Still getting to know each other but he only came out of racing 12 months ago and is bloomin awesome ☺️

Oh we have lots of learning to do and balance to find, just letting him find his hooves and see the world but he’s taking to it all like a duck 🦆 to water 💦 and absolutely loving it 😊 the trust between us both is coming too so watch this space and thank you 🙏🏻 x

Honestly, it was a great vlog. Very raw and honest. Loved it. Good for you. And I agree with you, somehow he has the confidence and your slowing down to the fences to help him seems to knock his confidence because (maybe rightly or not) he thinks he’s “got it” in hand. All good though. Thank you for sharing ❤️

The first run out, maybe needing to learn to balance his and your weight when travelling downhill. So that’s an exercise for you, without the jump. Ie. Canter downhill and move your weight about, half halt, halt, turn etc. Just one of those learning curves.
Second run out. He clearly needs you to be as positive as he is. He is such a wonderful star in the making. You need to trust his natural skills. He clearly loves jumping.
Third stop, couldn’t see what happened.
The water issue. Way too big an ask. Need lots of moving through water at a pace to sort his confidence in order to jump into water. Totally my error. It looked as if initially you were asking him to jump off the big step. Silly me. He is just honestly such a stunning boy. I cannot wait to follow your progress and the steep climb (which I somehow think might take a lot less time than anticipated) up into great eventing. He just wants to please you. Just marvellous. Wonderful to watch you both. ❤
