Yeah i think he actually understands english but sometimes struggling to respond back because of his limited vocab (maybe?). And he has a really nice pronounciation
I assume bc it would sound more natural to say have in a sentence vs eat or drink. “Let’s eat supper” vs “Let’s have supper” “Can I drink water?” vs “Can I have water?” “I’ll eat cake” vs “I’ll have cake” As far as I can tell their focus is on teaching them to be conversational in English, so they put more effort into teaching them how ppl speak instead of learning translations of everything :)
