I personally agree with him, as I feel it is important for kids to form their taste in music early in their lives. If you actually read the comment all the way through he literally said "Teach kids instead of dropping them off at some daycare or babysitter". What he said only pertains to music, not to parenting as a whole.
Doesn't work that way. Developmental Psychology has already looked into this. Thanks for playing.
Complete and utter crap from someone who knows nothing about the subject.
Donny osmond and frank zappa..just that line alone made me chuckle 😂
I hug you for cutting and uploading this. FZ was a wise man.
Goddamn I wish I were alive in Frank's heyday. Thoughtful, insightful, honest, and an amazing talent.
We love Frank Zappa! Died way too soon. I just love it here where he easily held his own against the "Miss Know It All" known as Tipper Gore. I can't believe Tipper Gore didn't have anything better to do with her time back in the day.
Even the new host was warning Candy she was on a slippery slope lol get em Frank RIP
"Cant tell them apart, can ya?" Pure gold.
frank zappa had the smoothest fucking voice.
With the upcoming documentary on FZ hitting the screens, he will be getting some long overdue extra exposure and attention. Hopefully it will switch a lot of people on. Music is art. Not RUclips. FZ would have ruled these platforms. We need Frank and we need him NOW. Go tell your friends. Buy his records. Not downloads. Frank Zappa is the king. Never to be beaten, over-shadowed or ignored. The highest level of respect we can afford him is to enjoy his music and listen to what he says and throw in a little bit of 200 Motels on the side.
Can you imagine if those old women back then saw Nicky Minaj videos!
Yup! They would have finally been proud of their big ole butts!😵
"how can you tell a kid about a weenie wagon unless he knows what a weenie is" . . go Frank!
Where are the sensible voices today?
People are so afraid of sex. It's pretty depressing.
its weenie wagon.
Today everyone's feelings get hurt. Too many Snowflakes today. In RAP these days every 2nd word is nigga this & nigga that. Auto tune & no one knows how to play a musical instrument.
Very good...thank you for putting this together..
I was thinking Kandy Stroud looked a little like Dee Snider in drag.... then I realised Dee Snider in drag is normal and she looks freaky.
tehf00n 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣I thought drag queen too!
I have an idea: How about putting a warninglabel on religious scriptures?
"GODDAMN" RIGHT! lol
Seriously though, you're right! Maaaaybe some parents would rather their children NOT be influenced by some New Testament dribble that some priests came up with LONG after the "alleged" Jesus walked around preaching Christian rhetoric... It's because ppl are uneducated and don't know or understand history enough to know that most of the Bible has been proven NOT to be historically accurate with other events that took place proving it UNREAL.
Now let's see how long it takes for SOMEONE to FREAKOUT over what I said..
At the very least there should be a disclaimer. Something along the lines of:
FICTION. Any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely coincidental.
Mother Mary and Joseph, I wish they'd all go away...pajama people
Sales would go up if they did. "And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch."
I think the Old testament is warning enough!
Porn rock ??? Yea labeling is a great idea. Kids will always say "Where do I get some".
Paul Kersey says "Jews control the music industry. Stop hating on White people." EdgeRay 1309 replies "Paul Kersey Jews are white."
I was drinking coffee when I read this and some of it got on my laptop. I couldn't help it. Sooo funny.
I'm glad the term porn rock has barely survived
Then the internet came along and it all became a moot point.
bluebird its so ironically hilarious lmao
The left in Europe have done a pretty good job going after the internet so don't think for a second that the modern Democrats aren't going to try the same thing. They've gotten so much worse since the '80s.
I don't think I've ever heard the names Frank Zappa and Donny Osmond used in the same sentence.
It was the talk of the town when the hearings were televised. I finally got to see the man, in a suit, on the hill taking congress to task. awesome. Frank hated what Reagan had turned the republican party into. Im just glad he didnt get to see what Bush and Donnie T did to it.. lol. I hope it dies a slow painful death.
When was the last time you heard a "pop artist" talk like that? Where did all the real people go..
check Tom Waits
We are still here, we just dont get record contracts anymore. ;)
Zappa AND Donny Osmond are friggin' perfect! Cannot believe I said that about Donny Osmond, but LORDY! He's a self aware man. I also have liked his songs for a long time, though I didn't hear him for the first time until about 20 years ago., 20 years later. I am AMAZED Donny Osmond is the voice of reason in this debate.
Among the most successful albums condemned by PMRC are Twisted Sister's Stay Hungry which has sold more than 2 million copies...hahaha
23:58 These people are going "OH SEX - it's gonna kill us all" I LOVE THIS GUY! I MISS HIM!
tesla was so ahead of his time that he looked like a rockstar of the future
This is a wonderful collection, a time capsule. How things have changed…
One of the greatest minds of the centuries
The girl at the end sums up the best arguments of zappa 's stand point: just because they sing about it you don't go out and do it.
15:36 "Can't tell 'em apart, can you?" lmao Love Zappa.
The good ole days for sure. Hard to believe this was almost 30 years ago.
LOL @ the lady reading those sexual lyrics. That needs to be autotuned.
brainburrito didn’t James baker bang his mom? I think Larry flint broke that story. Lol. The fuckin religious right ugh.
All in all this was an especially well done interview. Particularly considering the times.
The way she pronounced "Motley Crue" was a thing of beauty.
Mot Lee CREW!
It's properly pronounced as: garbage.
Assiman Garbage are a totally different band.
My god, what has happened to journalism, or the lack of it. Everybody come back, no one can do it like we use to.
My God, this world needs a Frank Zappa right now.
Not at all
Why???
where are the parents fighting against mind numbing technology? where are these busybodies now?
You won't get that...read 1984, this stuff has been in the pipeline for years. The technology now is basically turning people into drones.
@@alwhyte6533 1984? Do you mean Nineteen Eighty-Four? At least call it by it's correct title al. And remember too that it was in fact a work of fiction, nothing more. It's caught the dystopian imagination of decades of young hormone-driven teens ever since, in the same way Catcher in the Rye did, but it's a work of fantasy dude... not fact.
@@johnc3403 don't lecture me on book titles, please. I couldn't be arsed typing out the full title. And while I realise that it is a work of fiction (I studied Literature at University), do you not think it a little strange that certain authors and musicians and comedians seemed able to accurately predict what was going to happen to the human race? People like Carlin, Hicks, Orwell, Huxley, even Frank Zappa always seemed to be able to tell what was going to happen, whether it was in music or wider social life. Maybe just a bit more tuned in to what was happening?
John C We are living in a de facto panopticon that is scarier than 1984 by a long shot. Look up the Chinese social credit system.. coming to a smartphone near you already.
They're at church, confessing their sins.
In today's connected world, the Parents Music Resource Center would simply have a website with a lookup function for offensive lyrics, searchable by band, song title, or offensive lyric. Concerned parents could just go there to screen their child's musical tastes.
If there isn't a site like this already in 2019, then it just goes to show you how much actual interest there wasn't, for the masses, in screening rock lyrics.
Even More Modern: there would be an app that would detect what song was playing and would list for the user all the naughty words/themes in the lyrics - or just tell the user the song had content forbidden by the user.
