Have you ever heard or hav3 you ever tried the pellet black powder they use in muzzle loading to reload these? I’m just rolling the wheels of my mind thinking it might make things less messy.
Plastic wads melts with black powder. Then you will get nasty bore snakes... yuck... been there... need to soak barrels with simple green on water with machining oil... spray something and left for few mins
Only part of new shotgun wads I use is the shotcup. Sometimes separate from the plastic wad portion so that it what I pickup, cups Only. Then on the BP reload a thick overpowder "cardboard/paper disk with a cork puck, then reused shotcup, shot, thin overshot card, roll crimp. DONE. Ready for action 😅.
I feel like the skill of making black powder has been lost. The reality, from my experience, is that black powder is still a viable option especially for those of us who choose to be self sufficient.

Why cut the crimp off if you have a press? Can you use shotgun wads? If so which ones?

Crimped by 6 or 8 works like roll crimped. No issues with two methods.
