11:29 Emma's simple wedding dress is very accurate to the book. Augusta Elton said on the chapter: "Very little white satin, very few lace; a most pitiful business!"

"It's not costume, it's clothes". That's So interesting. It was the first 'costume drama' i watched where i felt that the clothes were actual clothes. Like that scene where Emma comes back from the ball and is taking off her shoes. Felt relatable.

Emma 2020 is one of my favourite films for historical costuming, so I’m delighted to have stumbled across this interview! 🩷🤍

A wonderful interview! Thank you for bringing Regency fashions to life in a way that has possibly never been done so well before! It really breathes life into the movie! It's amazing to see how many good things we can have when the directors and the whole creative crew leave space for each other to bring in their absolute best game. In so many movies where design was so sublime you can have these wonderful artists making sure that they give credit to fellow art departments and actors etc. Just goes to show that the whole old trope of a solitary genius is rarely true, it's usually a collaborative effort.

Thank you very much for this interesting interview! I really enjoyed it. You get a whole different sense of appreciation for the garments once you learn about the thought and ideas gone into them during production.
