Your friend didn't do his own due diligence with research on micro climates? It's very well known that different cities have different weather. I will take Mill Valley any day! Of course Sonoma is beautiful but I love the proximity to Mt. Tam. I often visit SF and make the drive to Sonoma. Cheers.
I would take this kind of advice from a realtor with a grain of salt. A lot of stuff is ignored, like Guerneville is locally known for frequent flooding plus an abundance of homeless and meth addicts. Bodega Bay is lovely but also known as Blowdega Bay for the near constant chilly wind. Windsor is OK as a boring bedroom community which is what a lot of people like. Notice there were no pics of the huge areas of Santa Rosa burned to the ground in wildfires. I loved living in Geyserville but finally got chased out by the wildfires, and there's no reason they can't return.
Thank you, David for sharing this info. It's VERY helpful.
