It's Monday already. Let the struggles begin, just like when I tried to lead the squad to victory but failed. Like the video if you're a better squad lead than me!
"In the end we lost because the team couldn't clear out very well when moving forward to attack" Spoken like a true military leader, blame it on the enlisted.
A lack of aggression is on the leaders' part, not the troops. Gotta lead by example, that's why I love playing an aggressive SL in these kinds of tactical games. I love charging into the thick of the action and inspiring my men to run in guns blazing with me.
When you get clear, coordinated communication from command and across squad leads this game is unparalleled. Sometimes radio etiquette on the command Comms gets cluttered though.
That's why I'll be THAT guy who will tell everyone to clear the Fing comms unless needed and to keep them quick and to remember not to yell over one another. 75% it works out good. The other 25% i get TKd or dumb shit said to me non stop and it's like it's a sudden new cool thing to do out of thin air cause once one says something then another and more and more 😆
Yeah for sure, gotta be a healthy balance tho. I told some commander just the other day that if he wants to just bitch, whine, complain and boss me around every 5 seconds he can just give me the 30 or 40 dollars I payed for the game. Some dudes be acting like our lives are really on the line and they’re actually in charge of the other players lol crazy
'Sometimes the radio etiquette on the command comms gets cluttered': Flashbacks to an escalating feedback loop of slurs and insults due to one guy eating doritos without muting his mic. 😂
Good defence work is the key to success in HLL, I always tell my squad to patrol the point and not just sit in one area, get them to draw fire and expose enemy movement etc. It helps morale to keep them grunts busy.👍
@@Zvosab the fact that you get 10 points per laid mine and thus usually end up with more points than anyone else in the squad is also not bad :D + satchels are amazing + nodes are really the backbone of strategic gameplay
It’s actually mainly garrys and outposts stop the heavy flow of respawns really but comes down to others or a good sniper team and learning recon I’m brand new it’s so hard especially when no comms
Being trained in actual squad-level tactics is such a huge advantage because literally all you need to win half these games is enough common sense to try and flank the enemy. I used to play Squad all the time as SL and 9/10 if you just come in from the opposite direction your team charges you can easily wipe the enemy and take the point.
one of the most underrated things a squad leader can do is positive feedback after a task and effective critism. its insane how quickly your squad will adjust and keep a good attitude.
I just started playing game last night. Haven’t stopped. Bad leaders at times but damn do I remember every good one. Hearing my captain say, “Well done boys, we are the only squad on the right flank. Commander is giving commendations, we must hold position and advance after bomb run in 1 minute” and then boom we got surprised. One guy went down and I was told to set position with my MG. Mowed 2 down while captain was giving info to commander about an ambush. And then we got orders to moved West… which we paired up with another squad to move North. Bro.. it felt fucking sick.
thts a big thing not getting too negative when the team is bad, i voice my concerns on what the team is doing wrong and let my squad know what we need to do to counteract it, its a recurring thememe latelky with all the new players that have no idea how to play which is fine but what i hate is when new players dont communicate and dont want to learn or help the team meanwhile 2 sl's and the command are tryna keep all garrys up. good job man i feel like alot of players will learn from this if they pay attention
Nice Video, It was fun seeing this match from another perspective. I was Baker SL. I was also running a squad of former marines for our Friday night livestream. One of them sent me this link after hearing my voice in the command chat lol. Happy hunting out there Devil. Semper Fi
I'm no vet so my tactics are probably alot sloppier lol. But I've had games that I've had some fellow SL's that was, and working with them it's a great time implementing real world strategy to a video game, AND IT WORKS! Awesome video man🤙
Yes, when marines go on defense that means they all run around alll over the place jumping over wall and out of buildings. Really throws the enemy off.
Whenever I'm running SL I always try to keep The Mission of The Marine Corps Rifle Squad in mind. I don't expect my guys to be doing "I'm up he sees me I'm down" but throwing some real stuff in does help.
When I'm not playing with the clan or when I am playing with the clan.. I always talk in blue chat. Because I try to get everybody else in the play! There's a lot of new guys out there who don't talk on the mic A lot of blueberries running around who have no clue what the fuck to do.. but as long as you're talking out to them, you might get one or two to start speaking out. You got to get these guys immersed with the gameplay I like what you doing here!
Some real input for you. Great shooting overall, great call outs but call outs should come from every squad member. There weren't many instances when you where close to your green markers nor utilizing them. Smoking out to make certain pushes whil your Machine gunner lays down suppressing fire. Always have a medic in the squad and form perimeters around him when engaging as he is the most important member of the squad. Once an area is secure, wait for fallen members to respawn and rejoin before advancing. Call teammates by name and give them their objectives. Flanks, suppressing fire, smoke etc.
Keeping the comm channels clear is very important. For you game narrators out there, nobody gives a rats a$$ that you just missed killing 4 enemy with a grenade or just missed an enemy with your rifle. Business only on the comms, no pleasure, and keep it short and sweet.
I love playing squad lead, cause I'm great at listening to my squad and command but if I can get command, I can really make a difference. I really like being able to organise people and send back-up etc. It really does suck when you have to carry your squad though, the amount of times I'm with people that only get 5 kills a match is insane. Like it's not about *kills per say* but they're certainlly not making up for it in other ways...
I’m new to the game and trying to get better I love the game just struggled in the few matches I’ve played is there any quick tips you could tell me to improve as a team player
Now, give me 5 more SL like you and I can Command that team to victory every game! Great comms, awareness and team play. This is how HLL is meant to be played. Please take note :)
Having great squad leads means Jack if the people in their squads won’t follow their lead to begin with. Squad leads can only succeed when the people under them decide to follow, which can be lacking in a game.
I always end up being squad lead because theres none to join and soon as i make it all slots are full. I dont mind doing it but its nice to not have the responsibility
Clear/concise instructions to your squad, used squad name for callouts/marks, good OPs, placed garrison(s), active flushing of enemy attack OPs, prioritized marking targets/providing intel. You're a great SL! Come play with us on Lucky Strikes Battlegrounds sometime - we'd love to have you!
It's true, not many players are smart enough to stay behind and defend points. Most everyone wants to charge forward to get kills. So the enemy sneaks around behind sets up a garrisons and op's and recapture points.
So weird how lately, the past four days, I've been begging over and over for squad leaders to mark infantry and tanks and they simply REFUSE. I skip to another server and the same thing. I hate people who can't be bothered to do their jobs.
Rah. Plenty of groups to find on dedicated PC servers (what I play on) but I'm pretty sure Xbox and PS5 have easy groups to find, too! What gaming platform you on killer?
@@redishpinkfps Im on PC. Used to single player FPS, just because team work combat games have not existed until now. But this 1, is interesting for sure. But would be nice to get some coordination with competant people and a microphone.
Real world tactics are fun but problematic in games where enemies can respawn quickly. If respawn points had a number of points assigned relative to what would be a realistic number of squad members they could respawn in the actual engagement - but that would be less fun to play. Also the medic system is not exactly realistic as it does not tie squad members down for long enough. Suppress, manoeuvre and capture worked well enough in Brothers in Arms up to a point, but the AI was so janky. And it would only work in MP when all players are similarly motivated.
I always wondered how the USMC would have taken on the Nazi Army Vs how the Army went about. I had two grandfathers who served on both sides of the war during the Second, family up in Erie Pennsylvania and One who was in the Pearl Harbor attack on the island that morning. So both my grandfather's could never relate to each others combat experiences; so I would love to LARP a USMC WW2 European theater instead of the Pacific. Guy had just made a call out to be careful of a push coming in close from the South East, peaked out to check the right side of the nearby building quickly then pulled back to hold from a position where he was isolating to only one angle and was pre-aimed at the corner, regardless of if someone pushed through the entrance way or on the corner he had a nice angle on them.
