Something guaranteed to make you lose weight: climb the stairs of the Museum of National History while lugging that thing, and Rocky's theme tune plays in the background.
I like the big dimensions, but three slimmer volumes in a slipcase would make a lot more sense. Your comments about the need to shift over from the gutter is spot on. This is not the best designed book. I like the even more giant sized, but less thick, books they've been doing since this one such as Kirby is ...Fantastic or Ditko is...Fantastic. The Eternals one might be as large as those.
I was hoping you would do a review of this book when I saw it in your weekly comic book haul. I love Kirby, but I will never buy this books even with a big discount. I hate big heavy books and I am not happy about the current way Marvel and DC collect vintage comics in huge, thick omnibuses. I much prefer the old 10 or 12 issues per volume. Also, the book seems more about the design than the actual representation of Kirby's work in the bst way possible. I really don't care for the color borders on the pages, especially as the push the pages toward the gutter as you pointed out. I don't ses the point of this book as all those stories were reprinted many, many times, in many different formats. If you want to see Kirby's pages in a large format, I think the artist editions from IDW that you often review are way better. In any case, thank you for doing this.
Marvel makes their Masterwork hardcovers, which collect about 10 issues each. There are also the softcover epic collections, which collect more like 10-20 issues. I'm fine with most omnibuses, it's only the 1500 page ones, almost exclusively by DC, that are too much for me. Marvel also uses thinner paper, which makes them more readable. The FF omnis are also on the small side (under 800 pages).

Carry it with you every day to improve your core strength!
4:28 Its deliberate. To discourage slapping it on a photo copier. Lol.
Ha! Don't slap this heavy book on a photocopier or you'll break the glass!
I'm with you on Stone's chunky inking...served Kirby well. It looks a little odder on Buscema, though I still like it there too....
It's good stuff!
I just might have to break down and get this if it doesn’t cost two limbs. I agree with you that the designer should’ve centered the pages.
Somebody in one of our show chats said they got it for $35 at Ollie's. That was half of what I paid for it.
Excellent job! Thank you.

I didn’t even realize those newer books were even bigger. I’ll have to check them out.

I like the book but I’m also a little disappointed by it. I really would like it better if it was broken up into three books.
