George 6 didn't become king overnight :) they knew Edward 8 didn't want to leave Wallis before their dad even died. So, he had at least 1 year to get used to the idea that Edward might abdicate as The Church wssnt going to allow him to marry a divorced woman.

There's no point to pin the blame on the Church, Parliament, or the Crown for supposedly not allowing her to marry a divorcee. She just wasn't ready to give up royal for love. But then again, even if she was ready, can she? Her uncle Edward VIII gave up royal life to marry a divorcee, which caused scandal. Even if she could've followed his footsteps, too, she probably just decided against it. It was bad enough that the media depicted her as the bad sister, it would've been worse if she became "female Edward VIII".

@SVG At last Charles was allowed to marry Camilla and keep his titles because he was a widower, church of England allows widowers to remarry. Peter Towsend wasn't. that's why parlament and church gave Margaret an ultimatum - give up titles and marry or keep them but break up with him.

She was born into such privilege, without (nearly as many) of the immense sacrifices her sister had to make. Her bitterness at not being the main ‘star’ it seems was her big bone of contention. Aside from not being able to marry her love, her life was not tragic at all. All the rest was her own doing. Her behaviour truly seemed spoiled, self-centred, self-indulgent and by all accounts often downright rude. She could have embraced her privileged life and supported her sister with love and humility, relieved that she was free of those heavy burdens.
She loved everyone but got nothing from others in return. This was sad.

I wouldn’t call her life ‘tragic’ just because she was born as a second child in the line of throne. Yes, she was shadowed by her elder sister, the Queen but she also didn’t have to carry the actual burden as a queen like her sister has had to till today. She got to have her fun as a younger sister, spoilt with her snobbish, rebellious attitude, often rude to ‘commoners’, who by the way were the rest of us apart from a few royal family members.

It is of course sad to having to choose between her lover or her life, but it is what it is and she made her choice in the end. I mean, I can sort of understand why she had to, giving up your whole life for someone you love isn’t as easy as it sounds at all, so I don’t blame her. I’m no princess but even as a “commoner” like myself, it was still a hell a lot of sacrifice to make for someone I love. But again, that’s life, isn’t it? Well the mother queen never loved her that much.. she went into demise as soon her fater died as she was her fathers favourite.. I can feel her pain..how time and people made her the negative one..
I feel for her so much as I had a similar experience in my own family coming from a very old family who still think they are better and higher class then everyone else. But I ended up leaving them and accepting the title of the bad seed and doing as I wanted. I lost my family to be myself but it was the early 2000s not back then when it would of been extremely hard for a single woman with a bad reputation to servive on her own.
Obviously I'm no princess but the feelings of hurt and worthlessness are the same no matter who you are.

This is not true. The Queen Mother loved her daughters very much. Funnily, she naturally drifted towards Margaret until Elizabeth became queen, and by extension, head of the family; and Margaret's many bad behaviours began coming to light.
we don't have to be born into a royal family to feel constrained and depressed without freedom. Let's look at them from the point of view of a small family, a family with two daughters, where both have different sides of life and different treatment from the people around them. no one could understand her but her own father. even her mother might be overly comparing herself to her older sister. Elizabeth was born to be the crown princess and would replace her father. then as much as possible she must be the best than another. all attention will be focused on her and forget her little sister. their father knew all of this much better. so there he gave more attention to his 2nd daughter. no one wanted to live in the shadow of their older sister's success. no one wants to live by comparison. That was how Princess Margot felt during her life. no one knows how sad her life looks so perfect.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he had something to do with his death, now they are trying to rule it as a homicide instead of suicide, afraid that Epstein would expose them as pedophiles. It is sad really. Her quote "I guess I'll be second best to my grave." really speaks volumes about how she felt about her whole life. Everyone is trying to still vilify her for being the "rebel princess" but really her drinking and acting out was just self medicating to numb the pain of never feeling that her family really loved her equally along with her sister. She even had to marry second best...no one should have to do that. She couldn't marry her first choice or else she would lose her status, her money, her family, everything. I hope she has now found the peace that she never had in life.

They give a lot of fault to the Queen regarding the Townsend matter but I did some quick research and, in reality, it seems Princess Margaret herself was not so in love with him anymore, so she broke up with him... 🤷♀️❤️
