The barbell is about 1000 US dollars, which is a slightly above-average price for a IWF competition bar. One of the great things about olympic weightlifting is that this initial investment in a high quality barbell will most likely last you a lifetime, which in the long run is cheaper than a majority of other hobbies out there.
@@brandonh1116honestly any reputable company will have a Olympic barbell that will last you a life time in a home gym setting, but it will probably be close to a 3rd of the price of this. The quality is negligible for the huge price difference but if you are an actual competitor then it Makes sense to train with something that is used more common at the meets . It is a bit different for a commercial gym that has many people using them. The price is jacked up a lot of due to the iwf certification etc.
Uesaka makes one of like 5 of IWF certified barbells (Eleiko is also on that short list). Uesaka barbells have been used for 6 Olympic games. Y’all acting like this is some sort of gimmick bar lmao, this company is close to the pinnacle of barbells.
The funniest thing about "katana steel" is that the the ironsand they used is really really low grade iron but it was what they had. It was the constant folding and removing impurities that made the steel great, not the base material. Also iron is iron at the end of the day if you purify it. It's an ELEMENT LMAO
The amount off people willing to drop a grand on a bar because "it's made like a samurai sword" is insane. Just shows that if you put some buzzwords in the promotional materials, people will be dumb and buy it.
That line especially killed me because Japanese steel (in relation to samurai swords) is notoriously terrible which is why they had to be so sharp and folded
i am reading all the crazy comments 2 of my friends used the uesaka bar and it is legit!!! i prefer ivanko because i grew up loving that bar but then again eleiko also makes killer bars, but the chinese bars they are legit for almost half the price, the used it in paris 2024 olympics
Common myth. Pre-industrialization, Japanese steel and European steel were of very similar quality. The Japanese also were not the only people to use differential hardening and folding, everyone did. Now, I'm not saying that this product marketing makes sense. Modern steel is certainly better than steel produced pre industrial revolution in both Europe and Japan.
@@Tyborz Lmao... I don't really have a horse in this race and don't care which is better. I was just curious and decided to look into it a little bit because of the comments. From what I can tell, the main difference is that since the % amount of iron typically in the Japanese sand was less, it required slightly more effort to refine and concentrate the iron. The end result would have been quite similar to European steel. Here is an interesting video I just watched on the subject: /watch?v=5djVkOgu8vs
There's no way they melt sword blades down for this barbell. It's probably just the same type of tamahagane steel which is actually subpar, especially compared to modern steels, but also compared to contemporary European steels
He did a 510 lb trap bar deadlift on camera during his visit to the REP headquarters like a year ago. Obviously he's not an elite powerlifter or anything, but that's still very, very respectable.
Samurai swords are actually traditionally made from crap steel. The casuals love katanas due to the artisan work involved in forging one which is almost entirely to cover up the trash steel.
With all the hand made aspects and (possibly) made from old broken swords, there would be no consistency in the carbon content, and who knows what the tensile strength is or if the structure has defects. No thanks.
Tamahagane, the steel used in Katanas, is an inferior steel, which is why it has to be folded so many times. If the bar were made in Germany, then it'd be worth the price.
Lol they are just using buzzwords, Katanas were made from poor quality steel, thats why they had to fold them so many times, because otherwise the steel would have contained way to much carbon, which would have made the blade brittle. But they use Katana as a buzzword, so everyone goes "ooooh Katanas are so cool, they are the best swords ever", meanwhile everyone who knows anything about craftsmenship knows this is not true.
Does it make me stronger lol samurai sword metal 😂😂😂 alrighty then. You ever wonder where channels mess up and lose subscribers well this video is close… one guy with a sledge 😂😂😂
Wow, so much hype for things that don't affect performance. Probably costs an insane amount of money

It does affect performance because the knurling is better and it will last longer?

I do appreciate the craftsmanship that went into it
And its only $1000
Def way more
All comp weightlifting bars are at or around the same price. I know Eleiko is more expensive then uesaka though.
Instead of adminring the bar. Start using it! 💪🏻

Well traditionally katanas were made from low quality steel compared to Europeans swords, hence they had to fold it so many times
Exactly and this isn’t even folded, they got a major racket going by using buzzwords
Should’ve read the comments first lol. Completely agree and coop just dropped some credibility from me at this point for pushing these buzz words.

@Wandrew324 interesting, any sources on that I can read?
So it's a common myth to fix a common myth

I need a Hattori Hanzo Barbell.
Most people are not aware that samari sword steel is substandard and required extreme amount of craftsmanship. English long sword was much stronger.

the steel they use for katanas is really brittle compared to spring steel. idk about sou but I'd rather have my bar bend a little bit than break.
The Uesaka bar? How about Uesaka-on deeze nuts!
Please make a review of this!!!
It’s on my list. I’m told with a little breaking in process the bar is better than eleiko
This Has to be called the katana bar. Any other name is a disservice.
All that just to get the exact same effect as a Rogue or Texas bar
Waiting for the review of the Kabuki Strength Oregon Power Bar!
Samurai swords are actually traditionally made from crap steel. The casuals love katanas due to the artisan work involved in forging one which is almost entirely to cover up the trash steel.
I can't wait for them to make katana steel holes on a rack. Then I will have so much pleasure inserting all my attachments and pins.

nahh those hattori hanzo swords are worth millions, unless you got bud's for $250...
I want one take my money
I want
One question. Why??
This makes sense - we don’t need steel for katanas anymore. The real men need good steel bars to lift now a days - half being sarcastic 😂
Proof that Olympic lifters are just nerds who want to say they workout
It is made from katana steel in the sam way anything made from japanese steel is
I hope they don't actually use the same steel as was used for most of the swords in Japan. Which was pretty low quality in general.

Yet Coop will still tell you to buy the Rogue Ohio Bar...😑 referral checks are a powerful thing
review plz!
If you knew history you wouldn't be praising the katana steel...
it’s nice but not $1100 nice 😂
Japanese made anything is best❤
So it's very bad steel? Japanese katanas had to be so good because the material available was so shite.
Who's gonna tell em Japanese steel despite what every movie says is pretty shitty. Even the lowest quality of modern alloys outshine it.
Why are you so small
I thought a grand wasn’t terrible for a bar of this quality. And a lifetime warranty. It’s a credit card payment away
There’s nothing special about the steel used in katanas. It’s the forging process that is unique. This is just a scam.
