Do you like these colours? Which colours should i get rid of in my palette to make room for them?

    • @LCLand
      @LCLand 3 месяца назад

Get rid of? Oh no Charlotte. Many of us are paint junkies. We don’t get rid of colors. We start a new palette and incorporate new colors…. Lol.
      A few of my palettes:
Practice. My oldest palette where I now retire colors I don’t love as much.
      Favorites
      Landscape
      Rare gems
      Summer
      Autumn
      Winter
      Spring
      Single pigment
      Granulating
And a few others I’ve curated plus a bunch more sets of Davinci, Daniel smith, schmincke, sennelier…..I will stop there I’m embarrassed I have so many…not even halfway done…
But I also have a holding palette. New colors I haven’t yet incorporated into a palette yet
I love making palettes and I use them all. Often several at once but most have lots of same colors. Every palette has burnt sienna, pv 19 of some sort, perm rose shade, yellow green, sap, transparent orange, cobalt turquoise, manganese blue and a purple plus about 10 or 15 other colors. Aussie red gold is in most of my curated palettes too
I update them pretty frequently. if I find I’m using another color more in that palette. Swap out and that color goes into the holding palette. Maybe to be used somewhere else, maybe to be retired 🤷🏻‍♀️
      I’ve always loved variety 😊

You could pour a bit of colour into a half or a full pan and then stick the pans (with blue tack) to the mixing area of your current plastic palettes. You can play with them together with your other colours while you decide what colour to replace.

Love both colors! I’ve used DS’s deep sap for a few years. It helps me get a really dark pre-mixed green. I don’t think I could sub it for my regular sap though. (I like Holbein). I recently got Azo Orange from M Graham, and it’s that same clean, bright color. It’s perfect for painting all the orange trees here in Florida. I’m with those who say start a new palette. You can never have too many colors to play with!

I love both of those as you showed them in swatch, mix and wreath! Of my 3 greens: Hooker's (DS), Sap and Green gold (W&N) ... I think I will go to the Deep Sap Green in place of the W&N Sap Green. I bought a Daniel Smith Dot card ... ALL of DS watercolor and gouache colors. I find it handy to try a bit of a color before buying. I have 2 small palettes that I use for Plein Air (8 * 10 colors) and am very new at watercolor so am trying to avoid buying a LOT of colors ... sticking mostly to a warm and cool of the primaries with PG, Mars Black, Buff Titanium, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber as well as the 3 convenience greens. It seems like replacing a "red" and a "green" or turquoise makes sense but based on the visual of your palette it looks like most colors are well used ... good luck making the decision :) !

Try it a few weeks first. I put deep sap in my favorites palette and was soon sorry. I like sap better so I’m always mixing in lots of yellow until I use it up and can switch out. Favorites palette is a plastic one like charlottes. I’ve begun doing those tin ones with full and half pans and magnets. Easier to switch out as desired

I will have to make sure not to waste mine and hope they resolve their issues soon! 2 of my favorite convenience colors are Leaf Green (da Vinci) and Quin Gold (Daniel Smith).
