You don't need to but if you do, you could try this: Keep the lights around the tree itself, and hang the balls/bulbs on the rim of the lower part (the rim of the bag that contains the pot of the tree), one next to eachother; just an idea. No matter what you decide to do (or not to do), the outcome will be upgraded if you place your lovely little tree on a small table, or even a stool or box🎉

Maybe you can cut the ribbons in 2? So they are not that long. I like to use paperclips to hang the ornaments, if you find green ones they blend perfectly.
