I'm flat footed, and as someone who's always been told that being flat footed is a disadvantage, it's relieving to know the pros and cons of my own foot anatomy
I personally try to focus on a point around the middle of the chest, I find it easier to keep track of my opponents legs and footwork that way; though it depends heavily on how you fight.
General consensus is to look at the middle of chest, between the nipples...basically. You can see the contraction of the pecs when someone goes to throw that way, plus you can still see footwork and any hooks coming around. Looking at the eyes is pretty distracting, and you'll miss a lot.
Thanks for the video. Love the breakdown. I like working on the inside most so I am naturally flat footed in my boxing but have been practicing a bit of on my toes for maneuverability and better defense. Hello sir, good to have your views on this topic. I'd love seeing you cover the underrated/controversed 52 blocks system (at least the elbow blocking part).
Great suggestion Pierre!
Interesting theme tbh there is no material about this system
@@ultratoxic1 I have found few footages from Dan the Wolfman and also from the BFC Boxing fighter Lorenzo Hunt ; but he's so strong he's rarely forced to use these defensive tactics
Tony was the biggest contributor to choosing boxing as an exercise for healthy living.
I love the left body shot. It’s just many coaches told me to throw it different ways. Is my arm just coming straight out? Or is it coming kinda sideways? How do you hold your hand and arm when hitting it? Thanks for all the videos and stay healthy 🔥🙏🏻
I recently begun boxing classes and your videos are pure gold to get better faster, thank you so much Tony!
Please make a video on fighters mindset(not afraid of getting hit)
honestly just keep coming to classes everyday with the idea that you'll get better. I swear it'll get better just keep going to class.
Light sparring at first, get used to getting hit and realise that it's not as scary as you think. That'll get rid of the flinching aswell.

wow it's like all the questions I needed answering just popped up in the form of Tony Jeffries
Could you make a video for tall fighters please if you haven’t already
Man, you channel is pure gold, I'm binge watching it since yesterday nonstop. Pure gold brother, thank you!
If u don’t mind, could u please share this vid on ya social media please. Will really help me out :) All good if not 👊🏻
I'm flat footed, and as someone who's always been told that being flat footed is a disadvantage, it's relieving to know the pros and cons of my own foot anatomy
It’s not a question of anatomy, it’s a question of whether you’re flexing your calves to keep your heel off the ground or not.
I also have flat feet (no arches), so it is tiring to fight on my toes but I keep on doing it just to condition my toes
Hey Tony Jeffries, my name is also Tony and I've been doing boxing for 4 years and I got a fight coming up in January. Thanks man your so helpful.
THIS IS SO HELPFUL,do next HOW TO FIGHT WHILE MOVING BACK

your are the best coach on youtube tony love what you are doing with all the boxing stuff
Hello sir, I have a question. Where to look in a fight. At the eyes? Or the centre between shoulders?
I personally try to focus on a point around the middle of the chest, I find it easier to keep track of my opponents legs and footwork that way; though it depends heavily on how you fight.
General consensus is to look at the middle of chest, between the nipples...basically. You can see the contraction of the pecs when someone goes to throw that way, plus you can still see footwork and any hooks coming around.
Looking at the eyes is pretty distracting, and you'll miss a lot.
These tips inspire me to get to the gym and I’ve improved quite a bit!
Thanks for the video. Love the breakdown. I like working on the inside most so I am naturally flat footed in my boxing but have been practicing a bit of on my toes for maneuverability and better defense.
I believe, if I am not mistaken, Mike Tyson was more flat footed in his boxing style but had maneuverability with his movements.
These videos are great I started boxing properly age 22 18 years Enjoyed liftin weights For too long maybe If RUclips was more popular back then I could of touk these lessons into training And no stopping me Up there with the best of em 🤔
@@andydunkerley8465 yes. The web is full of garbage but look well enough and you will find true gems amongst what people don’t seek out or overlook
I'm so glad, I saw you on RUclips couple months ago, mostly I watch about sport or martial arts video, on the comments they just hating and debate which one is better. but you bring them together and the answers are so clear.very educating 🔥
In a street fight, be on your those because leg kicks wil be easier to miss
How much people throw leg kick I'm a street fight tho
@@skyezone3429 True. But with that being said, God forbid if you’re ever in a street fight, and the dude is dishing out leg kicks get the f**k outta there, he knows what he’s doing.

What do you think of Tyson’s footwork?
Also, would love to see a video on southpaw’s avoiding the opponent’s right cross.
This might be the best boxing instruction on youtube right now
I’m always on my toes because I literally cannot put heel on the ground without losing my balance
Tks a lot for sharing your knowledge. This kind of lesson i cant find it anywhere but your channel
If u don’t mind, could u please share this vid on ya social media please. Will really help me out :) All good if not 👊🏻
Fight on your toes from the outside, but fight flat footed inside.
Finally, a boxing instructional on this subject that doesn't just say "flat
foot bad" but goes into detail!
Its probably because being on your toes is better for the generic boxing stance that everyone teaches.
Love the accent no homo thanks for the tips
Lol gay

This is epic man I'm in rehab and couldn't find nothing as a hobby and I picked up boxing and exercise I'm down 75 pounds feeling healthy and putting my aggressive part of me in the right area and learning control
When you’re on the outside, stay on your toes, when you move to the inside, stay flat footed
That’s a Telegraph. A smart opponent will see that you plant your feet to throw with power, and will pivot/step out of the exchange to safety, whilst baiting you to come in. Lomenchenko did it to a counterpuncher with that habit, opponent couldn’t land nothing but his point getting jab.
your are the best on coach on youtube tony love what you are doing
What if:
First rounds: on toes
Later rounds: flatfooted
That’s called bad endurance lol
@@freddiepizerhall8324 LMAO
Thank you Tony, that’s what I need, and solved my questions for a long time.
You're taller -> Stay on your toes. You're shorter -> Stay flat footed and better keep the pressure on. What do you think coach?
Another very educational and informative video…delivered with passion and panache…Thanks Tony
Canelo fights flat foot.
So?
Stepping on inside vs stepping on outside against opposite stance.
great video
So basically when you're in the ring its toes. When you're in a street fight its flat feet.
Just a joke🙂
No I think you have a point if it’s one on one but if it’s multiple people I think being on your toes would be more efficient
@@sfihaliconde fighting multiple people you will lose very fast unless you have weapons in street fighting or in mma its better to be flat footed because of grappling.
Factz
This is your single best vid, that I've seen, to date. Much respect coach. R. A. London.
I got tons of great videos mate... You can check all my videos here: ruclips.net/user/TonyJeffries1videos
Hey Toni, im following all your instructions from Spain I'm trying to apply all your knowladge to the sparring sessions. Thanks!

Video suggestion for southpaw boxer beginners. Hope you notice this. I really love the tutorial and how it's so much detailed. Keep it up.
You are so correct. Good footwork in boxing or kickboxing is a huge asset. When your opponent keeps missing strikes it takes a lot of physical energy out of them but the mental stress it puts on them can be even more damaging. When you can't touch your opponent it's demoralizing . Thanks again Tony Jefferies 🥊🇺🇲🇬🇧👍
Absolutely intriguing explanation
Thank you mate, as a martial artist I do like learning from other fighting styles
I’m on my toes due to the fact I train MMA but I love the art of boxing and attribute boxing in a lot of my style. Very educational, thank you so much!
Thanks mate for leaving a comment - this helps the channel
Thanks Tony! Next training I'll use footwork on Toes.
Having done kick boxing in the past, we were discouraged from being on the toes, being flat footed generates more power for kicks, but for punching, I definitely love the footwork I am seeing on these videos. NEW SUBSCRIBER!🥊🥊🥊🥊
Proper warming this for someone who wants to train but cant get in a gym right now thanks Tony your good head.
Thanks ma man, means alot
In my country, Korea, it seems elite amateur boxers are 100% on toes. And besides them, about 90% of coaches prefer to teach on toes. I saw only a few coaches who say flat footed footwork is also necessary. I'm a hobby boxer and most of times I'm on toes, too.
I like your lessons. Please keep up the good things. Thank you. ♡
You clearly know what you talking about! keep sharing your knowledge, please!
Thanks mate, will do!
Thank you for takings us through this. Amazing guy 🙏
