Hi lance when I was doing my 65 up I replaced the weld on end tie rod and wasn’t difficult to get, was in stock with sparex. it amazes me the you can get it now unless within the 8 months I brought mine they no longer stock it. 👍

Hello Joel, I am going to replace the same weld on tie-rod end in the very near future too. A questions if I may - when you cut off the old tie-rod end was there a hole in the tube or is it solid? Any other information you could pass on would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Matt

I felt your pain with the broken bolt! I've got the mark 1 that I've had the odd curse of finding other persons easy fix job's! But after replacing all oil's and filters and grease knipples tie rods (next are the king pins) and finding the oil bath was a blocked suppository which I had to burn 🔥 out as the gauze wire doesn't come out ! The old girl (1959) now happily works reliably 😄 mine has power steering and a FEL great video 📹 👍 I learn every time I watch your work 😀 thank you sir
Thanks Philip, Im tackling the stubs this weekend and my air cleaner is a mess as well with it not being serviced for 34 years apparently.

Hello Lance, I have recently acquired a 65 with power steering and Multipower (yep, I’m a lucky boy!) and also need to replace the weld on tie-rod end. I’d be very interested to see how you managed to replace yours - any chance of a short video on the replacement when the time comes? Your series of videos on the MF65 have been a fantastic source of information and pleasure. Thanks in advance. Matt

I always spray all bolts and nuts with WD40 at least a week in advance and then again a couple of days before starting to dismantle. It usually saves a lot of headache and busted knuckles!
I often do as well if I have the time or think to do it.
A little worn here and there but overall in good nick, I feel for the old tractor I’m also turning 60 next year😉😊
62 later this year for me, I think we must just be coming good.

Bolts in good easy place to remove it. Broken bolts and studs usually in a prix of a place to work on.

Yes easy to remove for sure but I thought I would show how to get it out as it may help someone out.

How did you get the ball joint off of the lower pitman arm.
undone the two outer tie rod ends and the lower arm and same procedure as in the top drag link ball.

The 65 had the same front end as a 175 the 175 power steering fit the 65 and some bits of a 165
Yes the remained very similar up the front for many years.

those tire rod ends didn't have a grease fitting 4 them and U couldn't grease them that's why they aren't no good 😮😮 now when U put new tie rod ends on U need 2 put a grease fitting on they don't last long if U can't grease them 😮😮 OMG 2 16 2O24
I bought the tractor as a wreck to fix so no problem.
