In SW IV: A New Hope, the final Death Star attack is taken almost frame by from the 1964 movie '633 Squadron'. This is where British Mosquito bombers attack a German factory flying up a narrow Norwegian fjord. During their approach they are under heavy fire by both ground anti-aircraft guns, and German fighters. Sound familiar?

If you watch carefully in SW IV: A New Hope, you can see that the access tunnel to the Millenium Falcon's guns actually re-orient the artificial gravity from the rest of the ship. Han and Luke leave the main salon going up and down, but by the time they reach the guns, the're exiting the tube horizontally.

The turrets on the"Falcon" should remind you more of the Ball turrets of the B-17

Ah, super cool! At first I didn't realize he was in a B-29 cockpit, I thought he was in the Aluminium Falcon cockpit! (Yes I know but I like it better that way. The B-29 was made of aluminium, after all.)

Cool to see which WW2 aircraft had influenced designs of Star Wars space craft.
Wow. I didn't know that Director Joe Johnston was a visual effects artist on Star Wars. Yeah. The same one that directed The Rocketeer and Captain America: The First Avenger.

I always wondered if that was a B-29 cockpit

There was no doubt in my mind about the SR 71 clone. But the Millennium Falcon bothered me to no end. I knew I recognize that cockpit but I just couldn't connect it to another cockpit. Thank you.

Iirc the engine sound of Padme's VIP ship in the beginning of Episode 2 was based on a Ju52

I always felt General Grievous ship, the Soulless one had a very WWII fighter look from the side, like a Spitfire maybe?

Great video, as an aviation fan and Star Wars nut the only complaint I have is that you released this on the 13th of May instead of May 4th which is SW's day May the 4th be with you 😀

In the sequels we also see bombers, similar to the strategic bombers of WW 2. I dont care enough for the sequels to look how they are called, tho.
