I have the same exact figure and quite frankly, at the moment, as I'm writing this comment, this is the best Duke figure in the Classified line. However I desperately want a Duke figure that is based off of his look in the Resolute film with this face mold and with two pistols, not just one, with an M16. That would be my dream Duke.
Interesting, most people I've seen much prefer the new release. But to each their own, and yeah I agree those shinguards on the original are preeeetty rough.
Funny you mentioned he looks like captain america, first thing I did when i got him was head swap Duke’s head on my marvel legends ultimate captain america figure and mannnn its just so fitting
To to be fair both Duke and Steve Rogers both fit into the same archetypical role of the All American boy scout. And typically these kind of characters are tall with blonde hair and blue eyes. Apparently Larry Hama the writer for the GI Joe comics based Duke off of one of his sergeants that he used to serve with when he was in the military. And apparently his sergeant actually looked exactly like Duke.
🤩👏🏼🔝🏆 This Duke is definitely the best I've ever seen, much better than the previous classified and even much better than the overpriced junk of the Super7!
The black and yellow Cobra B.A.T. gave me that same nostalgia chill when I first saw it and it's the figure that got me into collecting the Classified line.
I have just received Duke and Scarlet, and also have Retro carded gung ho, stormshadow, Destro, crimson guard, and Zartan. I am keeping all of em on card for the retro feels the give off. I have Eel, snow serpent and beachhead on pre order as well. I love the retro line! Would have been lukewarm on classified otherwise.
I'm glad to hear this line's got your attention! The cardbacks really do add so much to it honestly, I've actually kept the cardbacks for my Duke and Scarlett and if I get ahold of the Beachhead I'll be doing the same with him too. It really does add so much to the line. They're killing it with this line and I can't wait to see what comes next.
@HiItsMe-uk7mq I got the Snow Job off of recommendation from someone else. I am stuck on the lack of white skis, and the hair and beard are more natural colored than the bright orange/red of the vintage line. I opened him up as he was boxed. Still pretty cool but not total vintage vibes. I picked up spirit iron knife yesterday as I missed him initially. He is another, like Snow Job and Shipwreck. They are close but still a bit “off”. I was really hoping Dov would be retro but he isn’t. I have been waiting for him for sentimental purposes as well as I really liked the tan uni, and Red Cross accents but the new one doesn’t do it for me. If they were all twenty bucks or less I would just grab him, but being 5 to 15 more (if it is a deluxe figure) does not justify it for me.
You're not wrong, some of them are very, very gummy plastic wise. Duke seems to be fairly solid, I don't have any issues with him personally. His weapons are particularly soft though unfortunately.
@@noimthequestion Awesome, thank you. I'm looking around for driver figures for rc cars. The scale is never perfect for these. However, 5" to 6" works well for most 1/12th scale vehicles. There is no "law" requiring manufacturers to actually adhere to advertised scale. So it looks like I could use Retro Duke... as long as I lost his feet! Lol!
Great review of retro Duke. Interesting that you made that observation, with the contrast of retro Duke to prior releases classified. From what I’ve seen over the years no one liked the modernized take on Duke and wanted the retro version at the time the first classified Duke was released in the line. I do see your point, the other joes seem to have maintained a dual slight retro and classified aesthetic more so. Duke is definitely the nostalgic incarnation that came in the 80s with modern tooling and paint apps in 6in. Of the three or four classified dukes out this retro is my favorite though I had no issues with v1 Duke, as I have that one and the TF Duke. This is by far the best version -for Duke. I think they should have done more classified/modernized for figures like Ship Wreck and Quick Kick. Since retro card seems to be a thing now for this scale of Joes I would have thought the versions we have now in classified for Quick Kick and Shipwreck would have deviated more from what they are presently and saved these versions out now for their retro carded releases but maybe they don’t plan to do all of classified as retro rereleases at this point
It's true, most people were not fans of the first releases. But I did enjoy them, especially the first Gung Ho and Scarlett figures. I do agree though, I feel like it would be best to have characters that are so perfectly made to match their original iterations should be in maybe a different subline? Like the Retro one, take the new Beachhead for instance. He's great, absolutely fantastic. But it is such a perfect encapsulation of the original It's almost jarring. Still though, only a purely toyetic rating. This Duke is leagues better, and I'm glad you enjoyed the review! I should have one out for the new Scarlett here soon.
@@cookingwitherik101 Well they're all still Classified if you ask me, it's just a different subtitle. A way for them to get out old figures either as a re-release or in new molds for people who missed out on them before. It's both Classified and Retro.

I'd love that! Resolute is one of the best G.I Joe pieces of media they've made, and it deserves waaaay more respect.
Nice to see the stand came with Duke. I also like the visor for his helmet, nice touch with quote on the Etool (shovel).
I love the quote on the Etool, might be my favourite part of the whole thing.
All the retro cardback releases, Cobra and Joe, come with stands with logos unique to both sides.
Aside from the shin guards on the first one I like the original by a hair. That being said, retro looks great

Oh man I bet that works great! I should try that with one of my Cap figures!

Thank you! Glad you think it looks good.
Hell Yeaaaaaaaah Duke Review time!!
Yeaaaah you know it!
The black and yellow Cobra B.A.T. gave me that same nostalgia chill when I first saw it and it's the figure that got me into collecting the Classified line.
I had the same feeling when I saw it, it's a perfect adaptation of the original! I hope we get more and more that are as perfectly close as those!
The colors on retro Duke are the colors from the original comic book version. He looks pretty good. Good review!
Ah yes you're right about that, been a bit since I read the old Larry Hama stuff. But thank you! Glad you enjoyed!
Btw i think you took the best photo of this review
Thanks! I appreciate that, I try and put a lot of effort into my photos for these reviews.

See, I was going to ask about the build quality. Some of those Classified figs are so soft you could squeeze them underneath a door.
You're not wrong, some of them are very, very gummy plastic wise. Duke seems to be fairly solid, I don't have any issues with him personally. His weapons are particularly soft though unfortunately.
I had difficulty lining his buttons up
This is a must fir top ten so far this year ,he is awesome when u get him open
He's absolutely fantastic, definitely a must buy for this year.
How tall is he? No one ever says what the actual height of the figure is.
I just measured him, and he is exactly six inches surprisingly! If you add his helmet add like, maybe a quarter centimeter.

@@MysticRiverRC You're welcome! Hope you can fit Duke in there, feet and all!
Man poor old Duke made till the end ,thrn his back is hurting now after the falls lol
Duke's got a slipped disc, someone call Doc!
MO = Missouri, in case St. Louis didn't give it away. This is a great looking Duke.
Ah thanks! Yeah I don't know why but the name "Missouri." Just completely slipped my mind.
They could redo everything as a retro cardback figure and I'd be happy
Honestly I hope they do, especially Major Bludd as that one is craaazy expensive on the aftermarket.
Nice video, keep them cool …..CSGIJOE 👍🏿
You keep it cool too boss 👉👉

Isn't this a Retro figure?
Retro styled, it's not the original but it is styled to look like it.
Oh, I thought you called it classified in the review.
2:25 in the video. I believe the Classified are all numbered? So he would be the best-looking Duke so far or best-looking retro cardback, I guess.🤷♂️

I wanted him when I first saw him,but after seeing reviews,and vids,there's just something I don't like..And I can't put my finger on it
That's fair, he's definitely not for everybody. Hopefully you can find one you enjoy!

Chuckles?! Is your favorite?! Shame sir!
Hey what's wrong Chuckles? He's great!
Eh. I liked the old one better. This is pretty dull.
To each their own, I still really do like that original version. But this one is great too imo!
