    You need peppered jerky. Cold soak it for a couple of hours, it will soften. With the dehydrated veggies and mushrooms cold soak for a couple of hours, then cook for about 4-5 minutes.

    The key here is noting exactly how much water you need for each of these bombs. If you have that dialed in, you can rehydrate the veg in the water until it comes to a boil and can be added to the rest of the mixture in the bag.

    In the UK we get a spicy sausage called Peparami. It comes foil wrapped, is cooked, and doesn’t need to be refrigerated if sealed. They are about 15 mm in dia and come in several lengths, 150mm and 300mm. They would be ideal. Other cooked sausages, sealed in foil, which don’t need a fridge would also work. These also work with rice to make a pseudo stir fry.

    • @BackcountryForward
      @BackcountryForward  9 месяцев назад

      I know, I know. But first some reason it wasn’t working. I’ve opened lots of corned beefs and spams. But if I would have kept winding the tab would have twisted off (think like a pop can tab bending back and forth). Then wouldn’t have gotten anything. So I stopped while I was ahead and just yanked at the think instead. lol.

    Bacon bits come in relatively small packets that don't have to be refrigerated(for salads iirc) I'd try that as your meat option. Also if the jerky is too mild I'd recommend hot and sweet jerky or a korean bbq jerky dunno if it would be any good but maybe. I'm also curious if powdered eggs and powdered butter would end up cooked and re hydrated or just awful if you tried this with them.

    • @BackcountryForward

      I definitely thought of the bacon bits option afterwards. Going forward that’s definitely what I’d do!
      Oh and good call on powdered eggs! I need to try that! It could be like a ham breakfast bomb! I even have those dehydrated hash browns you can get at Costco! Great ideas!
      But the real challenge is... can you think of a way to make this a dessert?

    • @gnomersy1087

      @@BackcountryForward Hmmm maybe aim for something along the lines of a rice pudding? 1(pretty Crushed up) pack of ramen (minus the flavor packet), a couple packets of sugar(3-4 I'd guess), 2 packets of jelly the tiny ones they give you in diners, a packet of butter, Cinnamon powder, ground nutmeg, Vanilla, and then some dried fruit I'd go raisins or apples but w/e, And then maybe some almond flour to thicken it up? Technically the ramen noodles should have gluten so it shouldn't be necessary to use the flour between that and all the dehydrated ingredients soaking up liquid but if it ended up water-y this would be pretty nasty so I'd bring along the almond flour or some corn starch just in case. No idea if this would end up tasty or heinous though so you're taking this into your own hands!

      @@gnomersy1087 hahaha! This is gold! I appreciate the disclosure/warning 😂
      This actually sounds really good! Honestly I might make this but sub the ramen for rice (of course it would no longer be a ramen bomb... but you get the idea). And the almond flour would be really good! Add a bit of a nutty flavor, you know?
