My dad was a truck driver when I was a kid. I remember when this song first came out, my mom dad and I all cried when we heard it. He has passed away since then. I miss him so much, it feels almost like he's over the road again and I'm just waiting for him to come home :( He was the best dad a daughter could ever have asked for and I thank God that I had his love and guidence for 21 years. We'll meet again one day dad
My Daddy Was not military but i lost him 13 years ago.we celebrated our birthdays together and fished every chance we got. I haven't been able to go fishing since. This year i will be fishing. My Daddy never left i have his eyes his forehead his nose and his beautiful smile.the breeze i can smell my papa. I miss you Daddy 😢😢😢
So sorry for your deep loss. I lost my dad in 2019. It doesn’t matter how long they’ve been gone, our hearts ache but they want us to LIVE life! Fish your heart out! Catch some fish for your daddy and maybe throw a couple back and let them live for him too, unless…he’d be like “are you crazy? You waited this long to go fishing , you better keep those fish” ❤️
Thank you so much for the encouraging words my friend. The loss never leaves but the sweet memories live on and I hold on to them. I'm so sorry 😞 for your loss. Tomorrow is Father's Day 💙 ❤️ 💕 ♥️
I saw them in concert last night in Omaha and it was beyond amazing! Every song was heartfelt and they completely engaged the entire audience! I am 72 and it was just a great night for me. I have been following them ever since they started and all of their songs had meaning for me. It was awesome to be able to sing along.I will never forget it! I want to thank them ... I am so very grateful❤.
It’s been nearly 2 years since my father had passed away in 2022. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about him, nor do I forget the good deeds he did for the U.S. I thank him for his service, and I thank him for giving me the best, last, and treasurable months of his life. I hope he’s doing well in heaven now.
I miss the people i miss is my great grandma who passed away before i was born and my great grandpa he served in the army he did ww1 and ww2 he passed away before he was born and my dad passed away on December 14th 2020 from health problems and my girlfriend passed away on August 27th 2021 from having a seizure in her sleep i cry when i hear this song is a very good song by lonestar they are amazing
This song is so beautiful to me. Interestingly, the chorus actually reminds me of those who have crossed over to the Spirit world and are still all around us in the sunshine in our hair, and in the shadow on the ground. It is a reminder they still watch over and whisper to us through our memory and eternal connection to them. Beautiful for those yearning for an eternal connection to those they love with all their heart. carolyn
Same. It's a beautiful song but I always thought it would make more sense if the man had passed away. And she has a dream in which she asks him "when will I see you again?" And he replies ..I'm already there.. in spirit. In the sunshine..wind...etc But the way the song is now, he's not in the wind or sunshine, he's just a trucker at work. Will be home tomorrow.
Great monster hit from the summer of 2001! It's really hit me recently how much I miss this kind of heartfelt/family friendly country from the late 90s and early 2000s. Sadly, it's so rare to hear any mainstream country song that mentions kids or having a family these days. Now most of it's all about picking up girls in bars, partying, getting drunk, or angry breakup songs. I miss the more mature, heartfelt songs of the 90s and early 2000s that had more beautiful melodies.
Gah, this ALWAYS makes me cry. Never fails. I love it so much. I have two dear friends, one of whom is my big brother in all ways that matter, that are headed over there, and I can't help but think of them. And a good youth pastor friend of mine. And one of my non-biological mom's sons... God, please bring them ALL home safe.
I'm a country boy and this song is the beat to my grove but I also realized that a friend and a family member didn't get a respect thing like thank you for your service all the people that is a military woman or men thank you for your service thank you so much god bless amen
I love how sincere these guys are. When you see them live and listen to them talk and hear their lyrics, it's so obvious how much he cares about his wife and kids. It's so amazing. It's the kind of thing every family needs.
We all have some reason to cry. And I'm crying now listening to this song and I don't know exactly why. OK I'm drunk but, it doesn't matter, I was happy 5" ago lol.

kerri m I am so sorry for your loss. Your beloved husband IS watching you. It will get easier as time passes, some people mourn longer than others, that's ok, and it is good for the soul. He is in your heart and around you in spirit, and as long as you feel his presence, you will be protected. He is your guardian angel. Hi Mike- I just wanted to say I'm sorry for the loss if your mother. You stay strong, ok? I have a feeling you will. She IS watching you. I truly believe in spiritual afterlife. I am also sorry to hear about your dad. I lost my mother , father, and brother, inside of 3 years, back in 1993 and 1994. Losing a parent is very hard. I don't know if you are a religious, but I will say a prayer for you and strength for you, to get through this tragic time. Take care of yourself, Mike.

I lost my dad in March from cancer. This song still lets me know that he's here with me. I miss him so much but I know he's here.
My dad was deployed in Vietnam and most of my life until he retired in 1980. He passed away in 2012. He was my life and this song means everything to me. I wish our country understood what military families - spouses and children - have to deal with. Children and spouses serve also.

Probably because of the lyric video that was posted a year before, which kind of sucks because the band doesn't get those 28 million views. But their "Message Home" video has over 15 million views

My son was military, but was ROTC first and made a military themed video of this song. I cry when I hear it as my son was injured while deployed. He isn't the same person who left.😢
I LOVE THIS SONG!!! MAKES ME CRY EVERY TIME I HEAR IT, I DONT KNOW I WOULD DO IF MY DADDY LEFT TODAY....... MY HEART GOES OUT TO THE THE ONES WHO LOST THERE DADS, IM SORRY!!!
It was a song for those who served and currently serving, not knowing when and if they are ever coming home. It was a promise to be there for their love ones, our spirits will live on, and will always be with the ones we love the most, and their love will forever be cherished, and the only thing that we will ever take with us when we perished out to the sea. "Im the whisper in the wind, and I will be there until the end, cant you feel the love that we share? Im already there...." Lonestar!
This song was with me every step of the way when I lost my mom July last year. As if God was telling me "I'm already here. I'll help you through this." He did, and continues to, every single day.
A big thank you to all the men and women who have served and are currently serving in the military. It's people like you who defend this country's freedom. The price you pay for this freedom is priceless. You pay with your life, not knowing if you will be sent to war-torn countries or if you will ever come back alive. I greatly appreciate all that you do.
My Papa/ Grandpa my mom's dad died in 2012 from a heart attack I know he is looking over me and my family I love him and miss him it makes me want to cry because I miss him lisoning to this song
I used to listen to this song every Monday morning when i started driving a 6 hour trip to work and seeing my wife with tears in her eyes and I would have a lump in my throat and tears running down my check
Yes it is a beautiful song that came out pre Iraq..Iran and all the turmoil over there..I'm glad they re did the video to show how everyone feels over there and coming home... Thank you Men and Women who serve the Countries of USA, CANADA, BRITAIN and AUSTRALIA...hugs to you all..you are all my hero's for you all are fighting in someway to keep the world safe...thank you thank you thank you all...
I was married for ten years when my wife just up and left me for another man and took my children with her. I didn't know what happened or where they were until I got a call from my 9 year old daughter three weeks later. She asked me if I would come and get her. That was the ploy my wife used for wanting to come back to me. That was over 30 years ago and I still cry for my children because I knew I could never fully have them in my life again. The children always suffer the most. Great song.
To my best friend Clayton he died a few days ago due to only 10% of his heart working and was brain dead he was everyone's friend he never judged I miss him so much I'll see u again buddy I know you'll always b looking out for me :,( RIP you will never be forgotten

I miss my wife of 50 years, she died of cancer during the best times of our life, and had wonderful life of freedom and happiness together. Makes me feel like she’s still nearby !
To this day, this song is one of my favorites. It reminds me of when I was young kid in the 80s and my father's company sent him to help manage one of their centers for a few months before they officially transferred him. As young kids, it was hard for my sibling and I to understand why our father was gone so long. However, those phone calls meant everything to us....though so much more to my Mother I'm sure. During the 18 months I wasn't able to see my parents during Covid, I was reminded again of how much hearing my parents voice over the phone can mean so much. This song will always hold a spot in my heart.
My Dad passed away on December 4th, 2021 and I missed him so much. I really loved this song.

This song is so beautiful. Who ever wrote it is a soulful person.
The lead singer co-wrote it. You can here the personal touch in his voice. It's absolutely amazing.

This song makes me think of my brother I never met. He died when he was young and before I was born. R.I.P Spencer. Watch down on me big brother!
This song was with me every step of the way when I lost my mom July last year. As if God was telling me "I'm already here. I'll help you through this." He did, and continues to, every single day.

Hello Catherine
A big thank you to all the men and women who have served and are currently serving in the military. It's people like you who defend this country's freedom. The price you pay for this freedom is priceless. You pay with your life, not knowing if you will be sent to war-torn countries or if you will ever come back alive. I greatly appreciate all that you do.

Great song.
This song was my grandpa's favorite song. Everytime I hear this song it makes me wanna cry cuz I miss him sooo much.

When I wasn7 years old I heard it I cried and I mess my dad
To this day, this song is one of my favorites. It reminds me of when I was young kid in the 80s and my father's company sent him to help manage one of their centers for a few months before they officially transferred him. As young kids, it was hard for my sibling and I to understand why our father was gone so long. However, those phone calls meant everything to us....though so much more to my Mother I'm sure.
During the 18 months I wasn't able to see my parents during Covid, I was reminded again of how much hearing my parents voice over the phone can mean so much.
This song will always hold a spot in my heart.
My boyfriend is working in India so far from me. I'm sending him this song to let him know I am with him like he is with me always.
