I sang this song for my 4th grade talent show and won first place. My name is also Billy, and this was an absolute perfect fitting song for my voice at that age. I now have a degree in music and am a music educator. This was the start of it all :)

Her other 2 friends who ended up singing together sang a song and then they also done a dance they all have went to the same dance classes. They received an award for first in singing and 1st in dance. They done an awesome job! I’m a proud momma.

Yup...I'm almost 34.. I listen to this song often sometimes actually daily I just wonder how different life could be I have two children that I cannot give up on they need me so I have to keep living no matter what my brain tells me no matter how I feel I will still go on for them I rather live in misery and complete chaos then to ever see my children cry because I gave up or as other people say I would be absolutely selfish to do that..
I really don't think people understand what it's like living in constant criticism in your head.. I mean there are some days it's literally almost impossible to get out of bed put my happy face on and pretend to be okay.

this is the most beautiful song and i completely understand i am a survivor of domestic assult and violence. My son and I pray and thank god everyday for keeping us on earth and boy now i have a big voice. Remember everyone needs love and guidence from god, when u are at your breaking point he will be there Belive me i used to not pray and when this happened to me I had enough courage to fight and now noone will ever overpower me, except god.

I was only 16 years old when this song came out and I will be 42 years old next month. Billy Gilman has the most unique voice for a child and as an adult. With today's world the way it is, we need to hear this song more than ever, we need to get right with God before it's too late. There's too much violence and not enough love in this world. I can't get enough of this song. I think this is one of the best songs that Billy Gilman ever wrote!

I listened to this over and over as a child. Had a little crush on him. I remember sitting on the school bus playing this on my walkman...now he is on the voice and it fills my heart with joy. Billy was put on this planet to sing. He has a true gift. I really think he deserves to win.

This was an amazing song when Billy first introduced us to it and is still as relevant today as it was then. Billy and Home Free just released a video of this song a couple of days ago. I still love this song. I first heard it turning my gun after my shift (I am a retired Air Force Cop). Anyway, I had a really bad shift because I rolled on an attempted suicide where someone slit their arm open (instead of crossing the wrist, they went up the arm). It was a basic trainee so medical care was provided until I got there and took over. I took over and kept the patient from bleeding out by applying a tourniquet. Medics scooped up the patient and the hospital (Wilfrord Hall) made the life save. Anyhow, the scene, writing the report, and just the whole thing made me think of my Dad (he died of suicide when I was young). I also processed an infant death crime scene where a baby was left in a hot car. Needless to say my shift broke me. When I heard this song, the sound of it was so soothing. I just had to know who it was. Found out from the armorer and I have had this song on CD since.

Oh God. This song REALLY hits home, especially these days. It's true though. Sometimes it only takes one voice over a million voices to be heard.

I remember listening to him sing this song when it first came out and it always hit home because I was going through so much at home and in school(i was bullied a lot). And here I am now so many years later at 35yrs old and under quarantine, and this video just randomly showed up on my fb feed this morning after spending so much time over the last few months trying to remember the name of the song and the artist because it's been yrs since I've heard it. And with everything going crazy in the world even now, it's just as emotional for me now as it was when I was listening to it all those yrs ago.

This was posted on my birthday of 2009 I remember this day exactly. No food at home no gifts just parents who though I would not know my birthday because I turned five. Just yelling and arguing and my mentally I’ll mother having an episode. My aunt called and made a surprise birthday for me. My cousin and his friends came and just started bullying me at the party and calling me fat etc. I could never get a break. She always has helped me through everything I have been through even now. She is my angel. One voice was heard from her. I remember hearing this song in school has stuck to me for the longest time especially when I was in foster care and being abused. I hope no child ever has to relive what I did or any form of abuse and neglect

Teens aren't the only ones that get bullied. It should be for anyone that gets bullied.
I used to get bullied in school and on the bus all the time when I was a kid, but I always fought back. Eventually they started to leave me alone, especially after I got some of them arrested. I was even bullied and sexually abused by a kid I was kind of seeing when I was around 10 or 12. He's in prison now for beating his mom to death with a baseball bat. Thank God I got away from him when I did or that could've been me.
I've even been bullied in my adult life by a few men. I've since cut them out of my life. Don't need that toxicity in my life when I have other things to worry about.

My dad got the cd when it came out for himself. I listened to it more than he did. This song always moved me for some reason... even though I preferred the more upbeat songs. It meant something then, because of everything that was going on with the war on terror. Now that I'm an adult? Still makes me cry. The world is seemingly going to crap and we just need that one thing that's going to turn shit around.

I grew up seeing this video. He has ALWAYS had a voice. Billy Gilman actually helped me follow some of my dreams including singing, I know what he had to go through to get his voice to where he most likely wanted to be. Then, not being into the voice as much as my parents I heard him once and followed as had when I was a kid. My dad was a HUGE country music fan, and we all knew who you were. Then to be listening to "The Voice" with my dad and me and him both knowing who you were even before Miley Cyrus (Which, no offence to her got as far as she did as fast as she did because her dads a legend, but your voice is...) Keep going Billy. You have some great messages and a great voice that I know you had to work hard to get back. But either way you look at it you have changed a lot of lives. Just think. Not many kids that age back then boys, or girls, made a name for themselves like you did. You will always have thousands of fans.
So, lastly. Being 37 myself and growing up in a different time. Miley Cyrus might have a great voice but she was born into the music. She was known. You, Billy Gilman are kind of one of the main singing voices of my childhood. You are talented and always have been. And honestly as a singer with a dream of singing myself you are one of a very select few that helped me get to where I wanted to be in my singing as I grew up. And I didnt even watch "The Voice" Until I seen you on that episode. You didnt even have to sing for me to know who you were. I will buy every single you put out and will follow your career because to me you have a HUGE one in front of you.
And to Miley Cyrus you are great to. You, not only were my oldest daughter growing up but the messages you had in your shows were great too and of course I would NEVER leave without talking about and thanking one of my idols growing up "Billy Ray Cyrus". He has always sounded great to me! I remember reading comments how people didn't like his deeper voice. But when people get older they change (even physically) and that includes their voice as well. Little things was actually the first song I heard from him. The lady my dad dated, her and her girls were really big on country music and one day me, my sis and her two girls played hot potato and little things was what was playing lol.

I remember when I was little winning his CD with one voice on it from the local radio station. I was so excited. I never got to see him in concert though which made me sad.
