my sister owns a russian tortoise,he makes us laugh by his funny positions and personality. He is active and healthy, and seeing this video, made my day.Thank You!
We have them in our yard which really brought up our awareness. We have always got them off roads or any trouble they in. I am so happy you guys do this. They need you so bad. I know of a place right now up for sale that has like 30 on it. It’s THE MOST I have ever seen on 2 acres.. I do hope its on your list.. it’s obvious to us they are there. I hope they care... but people can be such cheap Butts...
Glad your rescuing tortoises, seems constructive land clearing is rampant all over Florida, acres are being destroyed with no thought for the critters who live there,I now have eight box turtles living in my yard I rescued from land being cleared, relocated some gophers to undevelopable property where they are safe, state parks
I hope FWC doesn't fine you for saving tortoises by relocating them. They busted me for picking them off the road and putting them on my central Florida scrub property. They took me to court and it cost me $925 (and probation if you can believe it) for saving gophers.
Hi Jaime Paz! Thank you for your interest in our organization! The animals need more advocates like you. We have our volunteer opportunities listed here: @community/volunteers/#.U0gqL_ldV8E. However, your voice can be a powerful tool too! Be sure to tune into our Facebook and Twitter to empower and educate your friends to be compassionate toward animals: @humanesociety.
They are cute until they start digging up your yard. We have a big momma that we have named “Irving”, and the burrow keeps getting larger. “Irving” has had babies as well so now we have 2-3 small ones.
this is amazing! i wish there were more turtles in maine... just snappers really, and they are laying eggs right on the side of the ROAD! poor things. i can remember the last time i saw something other than a snapper.... 11 years ago... :(
We have several small holes and we know we have 2 grown tortoises on our property. Can you rescue them? We are going to sell and I don't want them hurt.
Is there a phone number I can call? I have quite a few living in my property, I love them, but I see them on the road all the time. I've managed to save a few of them myself that were hit by cars but if some place like this has an easy way to go contact them that'd be awesome. I'm at full capacity in my farm for them, lol I love them but they need lots of natural space to roam around in ya know. They love the Florida line forests that's for sure.
@@amelialock7 there’s absolutely no truth in your statement, these tortoises will flourish when they’re relocated to the proper area. People please refrain from making statements like this when you don’t have the facts.
I was told it’s $6k paid to the donor site to receive a tortoise now in Florida? Why in the world does someone have to pay 6k for the donor site to accept the tortoise? I know plenty of large landowners with suitable habitat that would welcome them for free. Or is this just a way that the government gets to charge us

Hi rachel t! Thanks for watching our video and supporting us!
It's sad how they have to move the turtles from their homes because people want to construct
Cindy Hernandez sorry but there were no turtles in this video😁 #tortoise

Really? I'm pretty sure you understood her point, regardless of the semantics.
Patrick McLeod shut up you🖕☹🖕
Better to be relocated than trapped underground where it will be a long before they die.
That’s not a turtle

Pine, not line, sorry for the typo.
It's best to leave them alone, by removing them from their nesting site they will most likely die. Leave em alone.

Nice job, but the real way for us to "rescue" them would be to reduce or limit development and stop destroying their habitats to begin with. 😭
Who is here in 2024?
joyjoy greetings* awww :3
there
Man my dad remembers back when they were so plentiful they could eat them I wish those days were back
i have one of these turtles I saved one so none of the car in the street will run her over
They're illegal to keep as pets because of their status as a vulnerable species
@@amelialock7 disregard Amelia’s comment, this is the third idiotic statement she’s made on this video about gopher tortoises.
