A true collaboration. Fantastic recording and production imho. You can definitely separate and hear all 8 performers quite well. And for 2 individual Rock artists coming together that’s a massive challenge and I feel they met it at an amazingly high level.
Both bands are growing their international fanbases rapidly; The Warning is becoming a hugely popular and successful band playing festivals and sold out shows all over the globe, including Wacken and many others before huge crowds. They have a high skill level individually but their music is focused on creating an emotive soundscape for their emotional lyrical content.
They engage in fewer progressive rock motifs than the Maids but that’s because it serves their lyrical content better.
Same with the Maids who employ their fast, aggressive playing to complement the lyrical message they’re sending. After touring the US extensively in 2021-2023, the Maids decided to stay in Japan in 2024, focus on new releases, playing shows & festivals in Japan and building their Japanese following. They have also been completing their forthcoming album “Epic Narratives” to be released later in September. Undoubtedly, we’ll start hearing about some 2025 overseas festivals and concert dates before too long.
Both bands are spectacular in their own right. And they recognized that quality in each other and decided to collaborate based on mutual respect and admiration for each other’s music. They become good friends in the process.
That’s good enough for me. 🤷🏻‍♂️🎸🎤🥁🙌🏼🔥🙌🏼😎✌🏼

The two drummers are talented enough to play in sync. I was at the shiw where they debuted this song. You are off the mark on almost every analysis you made. While yiu shoukd check iyt more of the Warning, starting with Evolve from the 2033 MTV VMA's, there is plenty more for you to check out.
This was simply a song put tigether as a vehicle for the same of playing together.
We dud see it live, and it was awesome, and pretty much what they played in the video. Tgese were nit solos. There was no competing, they were simply playing the next part of the song.
You did not notice the opening belt? You probably should have watched more of their music before watching this. I'm a fan of both, and I loved it. Several ifvthem were in tears when they said goodbye.
Oh, YOU HAVE NOT experienced the Warning.

For those who followed the entire recording process, watched the Aftermovie and had the pleasure of seeing the song live, I want to say that in an attempt to perhaps show that you are a good connoisseur of the subject, you failed miserably in trying to show what you thought was true. The bands were complete and recorded the song in question together. The solos are exactly the same, live and in the studio. Try again...

  • @Jason_Gomez

First recorded Band Maid, and after recorded The Warning, in studio version, but when they played live in Tokyo, they do it as we see in the video, that was not a small feat.

  • @bandmaidfanATL
    @bandmaidfanATL 9 дней назад +5

They have performed this live. The solo battles were exactly the same. Doesn't mean they won't extend it in future joint performances in the future. They did only have about 8 days together face to face in Tokyo.

  • @greylocke100
    @greylocke100 9 дней назад +7

I saw the recording of the live performance of this song before it was removed. The bands were just as tight live as the studio version. As for the idea that drummers cannot be in sync, another band you should check out, is the live version of Tamashii by Gacharic Spin, where Hana and Yuri did an in sync drum solo. It is very hard to do, but the skills of the drummers are there making it possible. Akane and Pau are just as skilled, and by playing to the click, they are just as in sync.
I suggest you look into more songs by both bands to understand just how skilled they truly are. You will probably be pleasantly surprised.
Again, I saw the live recording, and I stripped the audio from it, and the "pause" is in the live version as well. Such pauses are actually quite prevalent in Band-Maid's music, and The Warning have used such pauses in a few of their songs as well. Evolve and Choke are the two I think of.
And Kanami has said in 2 interviews that I've read that she intentionally wrote the main melody and riff to challenge Saiki and Dany the lead singers. It is in a higher key than both are used to, Saiki being a contralto and Dany being a mezzo soprano. However Saiki has a much wider vocal range than Dany does currently, being able to cover just over 2.5 octaves. While Dany as I understand can only cover 2 octaves at her current skill level. As her voice has matured, Saiki's vocal range has gone from under 2 octaves to over 2.5 octaves, while her bandmate Miku has gone from just under 2.5 octaves to just under 3 octaves. As she matures, I'm quite sure Dany's voice will also mature and increase it's range.
And I highly doubt that Band-Maid will ever include scream vocals, both Miku and Saiki have had vocal surgery in the past, and are extremely careful with their singing voices. If they ever did include such vocals it would probably be by MISA their bassist. The other Ladies vocal patterns don't lend themselves well to such vocals, although in the past with a previous band, MISA did some scream vocals, but not a lot, as she really doesn't like singing.

Give The Warning a fair chance, they opened for Muse in Mexico, and they were so impressed that invited them to play in the UK, more over, Matt Bellamy gifted a Mustard Manson Guitar to Dany, so it has to mean something? If you like heavy check Sharks, Queen of the Murder Scene or Evolve, they sound better live or to check vocal range you can check Choke or Hell you Call a Dream, or to see the drummer as lead (while playing) you can check Narcisista, 23. They can also play keyboards (started playing classical piano when children)

It is acollaboration. They had two days to learn the song and record it. Just enjoy the music. They did perform this live with both bands. So your a bit over analyzing it. It obviously was not the best work of either band. They had to compromise each bands style to make it work. It was all in fun, nobody was trying to make the best dong ever written. They wanted to play together. Nothing more.

Also, keep in mind that there is another possible reason why the mix sounds so tight and why the musicians sound almost like one performer: the musicians are THAT good.
    Agree about the mix.
But they warning are highly trained musicians and were child prodigies, studied at a high level and all were classically trained. Their bassist and drummer are extremely highly regarded for their accuracy and consistency. Obviously band maid are extremely accurate as well and top tier musicians. Doubling is quite possible if the second drummer duplicates the first drummer perfectly. I’m not sure that is the case here, but it is hot they played it live… doubling it all with both bands on state stage together.
Band maid mostly wrote the song… and it certainly isn’t a style that works for the warning, who aren’t speed players but play for the song more.
The warning is the biggest thing in gen z rock … you should check them out.

The Warning are genre hopping in their own way. The are rock based and their discography can be described as if you take all the genres you know and put it in a grinder, then you have The Warning subgenre of Rock! It´s not always one thing or another, it is everything mixed with something completely unexpected. They love experimenting and are testing the limits of their instruments which all three of them know very well. Dany the guitar player is an accomplished player and knows her stuff, she is backed by major guitar brands, Pau the drummer is endorsed by Sabian and was voted best rock drummer of 2023 and best up and coming 2022. Alejandra the bassist has been endorsed by Spector bass and is like her sister on guitar endorsed by Orange amps.
You would do your self a big favor checking this band out! When it comes to this song you reacted to, it is not showcasing either one of the bands. It´s a radiofriendly thing two bands who are good friends did for fun and to give their fans something to listen to. (my opinion.)

The two bands rehearsed this together before recording. Then they performed it live at a joint concert in Japan. All members of both bands playing it on stage at the same time. There is fan shot footage of it out there. But the bands also recorded it and we are patiently waiting for the live version to be released. To get a better feeling for The Warning, try their "Evolve" (live at MTV awards 2023), or their re-written cover of Enter Sandman at Teatro Metropolitan in 2022. (which Metallica included on their Blacklist album)

I thought it was a fun collab. The song turned out pretty good considering it was written and recorded over a few short weeks. Maybe I'm bias because I'm a fan of both bands.
James, you absolutely should check out more from The Warning. I'm partial to the songs 'Automatic Sun' and 'Hell You Call a Dream'. Live is generally best.
Also, it's a little sad to see some fans throwing either band under the bus because _one_ reactor didn't like the song as much they hoped and was seemingly dismissive of The Warning. He might even be baiting you into leaving comments for the algorithm engagement. I left a comment, so I guess it worked. Let's be more supportive of BOTH bands and promote them positively.

I wouldn’t judge The Warning based on this song which is much more Band Maid than The Warning, or at best a compromise in styles. The Warning blends classic hard rock, heavy metal, punk, and alternative into their own unique sound with songs featuring catchy hooks and riffs, powerful vocals and harmonies, and often deep lyrics. The two bands first met at the Aftershock festival 2 years ago and have been admirers of each other. The had less than 2 weeks together in Japan to work out the final composition, lyrics, record and produce the song and video. The song isn’t the best in either band’s discography, but was a fun collaboration for the bands and fans.

  • @jamesgodwin868

Very interesting reaction. I am not a musician, hence I would not discern details that one would. I was not impressed the first time I saw this video, but, after watching it multiple times through many reactors,it rose to the level of good. I deduced that since they admire each other so much, they just wanted to have fun on the song. It looks like they did.
I read a comment that Miku wrote the lyrics, and Kanami composed the music, trying to incorporate what she believed The Warning's sound is. Then both bands added their own contributions to the final production. Sounds credible to me,whether it's true or not.
I am a die hard Band Maid fan. The Warning are a good band, just not to the same level of Band Maid. I think they have amassed a large following by extensive touring in Europe where Band Maid hasn't toured in many years. I would like to hear opinions on why that is the case for Band Maid. Can I assume they have been concentrating on where their largest fan base is-Japan and America?
