I loved how both Eddie and Steve stood up for Laura after the rumors were spread about her in their own ways. I just wished Laura believed Steve at first instead of thinking he was just being jealous and stuff when in reality he was trying to help her as her friend - she would realize that Steve was indeed right a bit later. Eddie was being a great big brother here even though he and Laura have their moments of not always agreeing but he is willing to look out for his sister in many ways.
And why would she think he'd say something like this just so he could go out with her? Steve literally went to the very same dude she's with and told him to ask her to the dance. Essentially getting them together. While Steve may not want them together, he still got them together because her happiness matters over his own. So why would Steve up and lie to her here for his own benefit? Makes no sense. Even Steve urkel, as persistent as he is, has his limits. And what really irks me here is that she gives him a half hearted apology at the end. It didn't even seem genuine. Just a "well I'm sorry Steve". Laura always says how Eddie always thinks with his hormones rather than his head and that is true with her as well. Steve deserves better man
I think it was hard for her to except that a guy she really cares about would hurt her. Also, Steve did chase away her other dudes. She went into the kitchen for drinks and while she gone, Steve said she had an incurable disease. Steve was possessive over Laura for a bit in the earlier seasons and extremely jealous so I could understand her reservation. I am glad that she was mature enough to acknowledge that she was wrong.
I know exactly how Eddie feels. I have a baby sister. And I'll always defend her against anything and anyone. Don't ever play loose with a girls reputation just to boost your own. Real men don't do that
Eddie was such a good big brother. He was about to bust that dudes face until Laura came in and grabbed her brother and calmed him down. Eddie the man.

The shows today just don't compare. Not too many with iconic characters like Steve Urkel. Sure there was a level of them being unrealistic, but that were enjoyed and their messages captures. Nope. imagine had this show had Social Media in the 90s, Weasel(Ted's former friend) posting that on his twitter page and Laura's humiliation when she read that post. I'm sure Eddie would've been very pissed off by this and confronted not only Ted, but also Weasel for the post.
I like how when laura was crying and harriet and rachel came back from their jogging and exercise routine, and harriet asks Laura if anything is wrong and why Laura is sooo upset, Laura confides to harriet that rumors have started going all over school that she Ted did the "horizontal polka" together. And harriet responds to that "Is that what I think it is?" Harriet knew what laura was talking about and wanted an honest answer and when laura said "no" nothing happened, it is just a rumor, harriet believed her. that's how it should be in real life too. there should be open and honest communication instead of jumping to conclusions.
This was and still is my show! I miss the 90s I'm a late 80's baby that grew up in the 90s best era ever! There's nothing like the 90s I wish I had a time machine I would have gone back to that era
Fun Fact: On the show, Eddie is 2 or 3 years older than Laura, but _in real life,_ the actress who played Laura (Kellie Shanygne Williams) is actually _older_ than the actor who played Eddie. (Darius McCrary). Kellie's birthdate is March 22nd, 1976 and Daruis's birthdate is May 1st, 1976, making Kellie 1 month and 9 days older than Darius.
Another fun fact. Darius McCrary has a brother who played in a couple of episodes Kenny "The Spider" Jackson his name is Donavan McCrary he was Ricky as a kid in the 1991 classic film Boyz N the Hood.
It was more like he was angry at Ted for the rumors and wanted answers from him. Being more intimidated by Eddie, he confessed it was a lie that Weasel and Jim started to make him the big man on campus. Ted had a normal date with Laura.
Exactly. I agree with you how Ted's a nice guy who just made a poor decision. Ted never told his friends that he had sex with Laura. The mistake Ted made was not clearing up the rumors going around about him and Laura. Ted wasn't bragging to his friends about having sex with Laura. His friends kept pressuring him to tell them about his date with Laura. Ted didn't want to lie to his friends about having sex with Laura. When Ted's friends asked if he had sex with Laura, Ted told them to grow up, and as soon as Ted said, "Grow Up", it caused his friends to think him and Laura had sex.
I know right. big brothers are the best gift a girl can get in life> I have a big brother. they are the best thing ever to grow up with. I remember when one of my classmates threw me into a locker just as my big brother was coming around the corner and he told that guy if I ever catch you throwing my sister in the lockers like that again. you'll be going into the dumpster.
iamjefferson17 I already know that Darius wasn't on their! And by the way, Cockroach was on the Cosby Show as Theo's best friend. On This Video,Weasel was the Teen in the red,as Teds best friend.
This reminds me when I was in 6th grade my little sister was in 4th grade and on Fridays all classes had a meeting in the auditorium. While the classes were piling in I saw my sister class coming in and she was crying. So I got up from my section and walked over to her and I asked her what was wrong she said 4 boys were calling her ugly and making fun of her stutter (my sister had chronic seizures that affected her speech when she was younger. She has been seizure free for about 10 years now but they were random and laster for seconds to minutes). I asked her to point them out and they were all sitting in the same row laughing at ME! Calling me dumb and I'm thinking to myself are u really about to talk about the person that about to fuck you up lol so I went to them and I gave them a warning because I honestly don't like confrontation never have, I told them she was my little sister and to leave her alone they just looked at me and laughed not saying nothing, I turned to my sister I said if they say 1 word to you or about you tell me, and before I could even walk away ome of the boys imitated my sisters stutter I turned around with the fury and punched hik in his fucking mouth the other 3 stood up and I beat they ass too, the teacher grabbed my by the throat and pulled me off them dragging me out the auditorium. I got suspended for 2 weeks and my dad was about to beat my ass but I told him why I was suspended and my sister came home crying and told him what happened and instead he bought me the Michael Jordan 45 White Sox Jersey and a pair of Jordan shoes #14.

We need these type of shows back.
EDDIE: TED...you do realize according to the unofficial code of big brothers that i should expose you and your friends vital organs to daylight....
OMG!! Laura's outfit!!! I want it !!
Damn straight, you go, Eddie! The guy's a scumbag!

Oh snap! Never knew!
Another fun fact. Darius McCrary has a brother who played in a couple of episodes Kenny "The Spider" Jackson his name is Donavan McCrary he was Ricky as a kid in the 1991 classic film Boyz N the Hood.
weezle: ay ted you callin us dorks
ted: yes
weezle: just askin go ahead
😂😂😂😂😂
Steves such a good person ❤
I can't believe Laura was willing to entertain that speech right after her brother and best friend had to stick up for her.
Weasel was also Dudley on Diff’rent Strokes.
I would rock Laura's outfit today...
Me 👩to and I am 👩42
No doubt..
@@rachelybarra2783 You're 42, that's why you'd rock it.
I think the guy Ted also played in one episode of Saved by the Bell Lisa Turtle had a crush on him
He Did. It Was Him, Patrick Dansey.
The girl that played Lisa Turtle was also on Family Matters once briefly.
@@vermiciosknid9629 really I never noticed
he a bully cuz he wanted to protect his sister? his blood???!!
It was more like he was angry at Ted for the rumors and wanted answers from him. Being more intimidated by Eddie, he confessed it was a lie that Weasel and Jim started to make him the big man on campus. Ted had a normal date with Laura.
HELL NO
This is why every little girl needs a brother and there father.
earlier in this episode, Steve refers to sex as the "horizontal polka." LOL. I love saying that now whenever I refer to sex. XD
Lol ikr
Stephen R lol dude me too
LOL I wonder if Steve and Laura still refer to it that way today!
I just busted out laughing cause I had forgot about Steve called it that lol.
Ted seems like a nice guy that made in error in judgement. He's really just like the rest of us.
Now THAT'S a brother

@@bobbyklausmeyer5857 do you speak English
I know right. big brothers are the best gift a girl can get in life> I have a big brother. they are the best thing ever to grow up with. I remember when one of my classmates threw me into a locker just as my big brother was coming around the corner and he told that guy if I ever catch you throwing my sister in the lockers like that again. you'll be going into the dumpster.
Ted didn't do anything wrong , he just let Weasel and that other guy think whatever they wanted think, it was just a misunderstanding
It doesn't hurt that Eddie is a *big* brother in the most literal term.
didnt eddie and weezle become friends later down the line ? lol
Yeah
Yep, I noticed that too, Eddie and Steve basically recruited friends who were in previous bad crowds. Good stuff.
Joey Bates right I was thinking that too
iamjefferson17 I don't think so, that was on the Cosby show.
iamjefferson17 I already know that Darius wasn't on their!
Weasel was great comic relief! "...just saskin' go ahead!" Lol
I wish I had a big brother like this 😢😢😢 mine don't ever take up for me when I need him
Damn, he rolled up in there ready to fuck him up!
Right
I hope everyone learned a valuable lesson watching this.
The thing is, Ted didn't actually start the rumors. Weasel and that other guy did. Ted's only offense was not denying them.
kids today need more positive shows like this about standing up for yourself and your family

Eddie standing up for his sister Laura Winslow I love and appreciate how he sounds and quotes and sounds like his father what's the matter you stand there with your bare face haning out one of TV best sitcoms ever to the actors and actresses who passed away my thoughts are with your family you may be gone but not forgotten still going strong god bless you guys thanks you guys rock way to go much love and respect and appreciation job well done you should be amazed and proud way to go !!! Joe 😅😊😊
Man I loved this show. Need a show like this these days.
0:42 Carl said the same exact thing earlier in the same episode it's funny how they both said the same thing 🤣😂
Steve was such a good friend
Ikr
I love and appreciate how Eddie quotes his father's lines what the matter you stand with your bare face and you ask what's the matter rumor has it ted and his friends will never tell another rumor sticking up for your sister job well done you should be amazed and proud family matters always a classic to watch really appreciate you guys thanks ! Joe
Anyone remember him from saved by the bell when Lisa was trying to impress him then he wanted her to not be friends with the crew
Never upset a big brothers little sister
Males Protect Females
Eddie was a true big brother. And Steve also truly loved Laura. Even though Myra would have been a better choice for the latter.
Remember the time she showed in a wedding dress and said she was ready to get married after college and Steve said he wasn't sure he was ready she stormed out then threw a BARBEQUE GRILLthrough the WINDOW! I don't think that Myra would have been the best choice.
@@vermiciosknid9629 Honestly, I actually never saw that episode. Lol. Maybe not. But either way Myra was still crazy about Steve.
@@furious3383Yeah. Batshit crazy
As an older brother myself I can confirm that that code is legit. How it is implemented is left up to the brother in question; but it ultimately remains the same: someone messes with your sibling, they suffer for it... a lot.
Why did high school students always have an incredible sense of fashion in 90s sitcoms?
I don't Ted's a bad guy or anything, but he did one thing stupid: he allowed his friends to think he & Laura had sex when they asked him, but if he said he didn't, he could've cleared the misunderstanding up to stop rumors from spreading.
Steve was able to steal every damn scene! Damn I miss Friday nights in the 90's..... Family Matters, Dominoes pizza, and Nintendo w/ ya boys all night!!! Oh to be a kid again!
At times I wished I would had an older brother like Eddie to stick up for me unfortunately I wasn't lucky
One of Eddie's best scenes...
Eddie reminds me of my older cousin I always looked up to him
And a year later weasel is one of Eddie's best friends
"Never Lie on ya Dick..."-Grandpa
Eddie was about to buss that ass 👊🏽💥
Thumbs up if you wanted to see Eddie peal Ted like an orange.
those fade hairstyles are so sexy, they seriously need to make a comeback
They already have.
Dante95nyc no she ain't talking bout that cruddy/actually just really nappy ass hair, she talking bout a clean crisp philly fade hair cut
Jazmyn Simmons That's the funny thing this 90's style kinda came back.
Dante95nyc when I originally made this comment, they hadn't. but yes, now they are.
Jazmyn Simmons I know that's what's funny they might have heard you Lmao
I remember the 90's the good old days back when everyone was old fashioned

Every male should protect their Big/Little sister this way!!!
Rumor has it ted and his friends they wouldn't tell another rumor I should dispose of you and your friends eddie and steve are good friends and brothers family matters always a classic to watch after all these years later appreciate you guys thanks for the memories ! Joe
Technically Ted is not a bad guy. He just made the error of not clearing up what happened between him and Laura with his friends, instead he just said “Grow Up”, so they took it and ran with it. He really didn’t have to tell them nothing.
Exactly.
When you're so angry you start quoting your parents!
Loved how Eddie imitated his father's lecture in this segment.
Steve's face when Ted says 'one kiss' lol
Crazy how Weasel ended up becoming eddies homey later on
This and Fresh Prince were my go to shows in the early 90's.
Family Matters and Full House for me
