the time i saw him in person was in 1971. He did a one-man show at southwestern oklahoma state university, just in the gym. students sat on the floor. he came out with a stool and sat on the floor with us. just him and his guitar, blue jeans and a denim shirt. he blew everybody away. i wasn't that far from him. i can still remember a song he sang that night that i never heard again: "half the world is world, half the world is sky, half of everything is all that ever meets the eye, you can sing along and i will sing the melody, together we'll make music and that's the way it oughta' be." He got a standing ovation and he teared up and said, "I still haven't learned how to deal with a standing ovation." he was really choked up. an unforgettable memory. thanks, mac, for being part of my life.
Thanks for sharing these clips--wow, his voice still sounded so good. He was the first superstar I ever saw in concert (June 5, '75). Such a great composer & performer.
I was there that night! I was able to meet Mac after the show! We were able to briefly discuss both of us being from Lubbock! He will be missed. Thank goodness you posted this!
And what a great show it was! I saw him in person 5 times during the 70s and had to wait 40+ years (and drive 200 miles) to see him again. Was totally worth it!
Thank you sooo very much for sharing. I so wanted to go to that concert, but was unable to go. So sad I’ll never get that chance again. What a brilliant songwriter and performer he was! Bless his soul. Prayers for his family.

Thanks for the great music!!! RIP Mac Davis
I was never fortunate enough to see Mac in person but hope we meet in the next world.
A big part of my heart went with this man. I love you Mac. Always have and I always will.
Growing up in Lubbock I ALWAYS heard of him. Love his song writing abilities!
My first concert experience was seeing Mac perform in Saratoga, NY in the 70's.
I was there that night. Unfortunately I did not get cabaret seating and did not get to meet Mac after the show. ❤ always
Such a talented man.
Would love to hear a bout rest if his conversation about his son Noah.
