  • Punjab is grappling with an outstanding debt of Rs 3.74 lakh crore, constituting more than 46 percent of the state's GDP of over 8 lakh crore. This translates to a per capita debt of Rs 1.24 lakh for each of the state's three crore residents. Punjab, once India’s richest state, has slipped and fallen behind. MSP and subsidies should continue, but it needs to rediscover its entrepreneurial impulse. Watch #NationalInterest, originally published on 16 January, 2021, with the Editor-in-Chief @ShekharGupta

      GDP of Bharat-

      2014 - 2T$ [MMS Era = 2.83x]

      2014 - 80T$ [1.81x]
      2024 - 101T$ [1.26x]
      Factor - 1.43 [Decade 1 / Decade 2]
Conclusion = The World GDP was growing 43% faster in the 2004 - 2014 decade compared to 2014 - 2024. But the GDP of Bharat was growing only 41% faster. (slower by 2 % points.)
In other words = Modi = 70% MMS' GDP Growth Rate.
But the World during modi = 69% of that era's growth rate.
During the MMS era, the world was also growing at a higher rate. so we were part of the world's growth. but right now the world is facing a recession but we are the fastest growing economy in the world. [This is because of the successful economic policies of Modi.]
So, Modi achieved more in his tenure (by 1 percentage point.) All while performing exceptionally well on other parameters including culture revival, national (border and internal) security, financial stability, growing foreign reserves, anti-corruption drive, huge infrastructure push, firm foreign policy, highly qualified cabinet instead of naamdaar cabinet, basic amenities for the poor (food, water, electricity, internet, sanitation, affordable healthcare, LPG, houses, loans for startups, lakhpati didi for women empowerment and direct transfer to jan dhan accounts!), digital infrastructure, fastest 5G Rollout, mostly good COVID handling (including vaccines), a very successful G20 summit, privatising bleeding and inefficient PSUs and revamping our railway sector (NHRCL, RRTS, Metro, Vande and Amrit Bharat Trains.)
Just seeing the GDP numbers are not enough. we were part of 'the fragile five.' rampant corruption everywhere. NPAs out of control. the entire banking sector in crisis. None of this exists now. Ease of doing business, opening a start-up, getting funding, self-help groups... all these are achievements of the Modi govt.
Landmark steps like demonetisation (which mostly failed because of non-cooperation from corrupt bank workers.), GST [A major step which is widely appreciated] and the unavoidable lockdown of 2020-21 were directly responsible for a short-term negative effect on our GDP. but we have only grown ever since.
AAP lacks an ideology. It amended its constitution to finish internal democracy. It didn't celebrate Ram Mandir. It is ACTIVELY talking against CAA. it is shaking hands with INDI alliance parties who are all anti-Sanatan. It is shaking hands with the INC (how funny is that! considering it was born out of people's frustration against the INC!) That being said, I won't completely ignore AAP. It has potential.
BJP is a party for Bharat and not for any particular religion. Only the BJP can write the Bharat Growth Story. The story of the reclamation of our lost glory.

The role of the media in the udta punjab phenomenon needs to be examined. It was at a peak during the Punjab elections in 2016 ( Anurag Kashyap's political leanings are well known). The issue suddenly dropped off the headlines after the. Congress with Amrinder Singh as CM took over and our "liberals" were happy. It was as though the Congress had waved a magic wand to suddenly rid Punjab of all its stock of "chitta". The issue again came back in 2022 when Rahul Gandhi replaced Amrinder Singh with Chiranjit Singh Channi and the former it was was revelaed had not done anything about Punjab's drug problem !! So after all this time , we still dont know if the udta Punjab phenomenon actually exists or is it just a political tool to be used by the media against those who they find undesirable ...

There is a hidden reason for the poor economic situation in a number of states and that is :
    1) Large number of employees and extremely high salaries and pensions. States like Himachal are nearly bankrupt because of this.
    2) Large amounts of money spent on subsidies like free electricity, free rations, subsidies for handicrafts, free education, girl child, minority grants so on and so forth.

In First and second world wars INDIAN soldiers fought gallantly and died in thousands, yet Britishers built memorial of a Sikh solder in UK, speaks volumes. The Hindu JATS of Punjab, Haryana, UP and Rajasthan and so also others served equally well but Britishers only recognized and rewarded Sikhs basically to create a divide, but we just lumped it. Same rewards were later for Muslims. Where does Punjab stand today. Nowhere, in terms of Sports, industry or agriculture.
