  • In the ongoing struggle to conquer the Soviet Union in WW2, Hitler aimed to deal a destructive blow to the Soviet forces at the battle of Kursk. In what would become the largest tank battle in history, the fighting was fierce and a major duel between Zhukov and Von Manstein would decide the future of the world.

If the Germans didn't have Panther tanks in battle of Kursk and attack earlier it is also very clear that they did not have a chance anyway.
The reason is clearly seen on the Prokhorovka battlefield. Panter tanks were superior when compared with T34. So without them German will be losing far more tanks than they lose in the Kursk battle.
Anti-tank guns were placed even before May only what the USSR didn't do in may is successfully dig 5 lines of defense. But without the Panthers all the chances were that the USSR wouldn't need them.
With enough reserve for Germany forces the battle was futile even before it started.
Why do I think so? Because Soviets can relatively easily and fast produce more tanks(in total) than before the Kursk. So raming with T34 in Germany tanks was a brilliant tactic idea. USSR was more than capable make numerous tanks Germans didn't.
Simple truth Germany failed because they weren't able to outproduce the USSR even if western allies stop helping the USSR.
Strategically to prolong the war Germans needed to stop attacking and retreat in an objective to shorten front lines and cut in half own supply routes and lines. What was worth defending? Romania which they dig oil to manage to stay in the game. And they needed to heavily fortify on their sides of the river rather than they declared some cities "As fortress".
The USSR acts smart and they encircle that point and go further. That was simply lost and forgotten soldiers which were seriously devastated to morale.
War was lost as soon as "blitzkrieg" was implemented in such a big country like the USSR. When they divided their army in 3 directions it was clear they will lose momentum at the end and start losing what they gained in the first year.

@kkkkjjjj8113I believe that the western allies were capable of really ruling in the air. That is the answer to your question.
I believe the USSR would lose at the end because the war didn't touch the capabilities of the USA to produce weapons. But it would be an extremely bloody victory.
The USA and allies always had the opportunity to import "manpower" from India, the colonies, and South America. Operation Paperclip would bring back the Wehrmacht, and from the other side, China would possibly send troops to the USSR. India will possibly attack China, and Turkey will help the UK invade the USSR.
I believe that war would be much more devastating than World War 2.
It would be impossible to win for the Soviets.
But the world would be a much, much darker place to live in that scenario. There will be colonies, just like before World War II. Colored people will still be segregated in the USA. The standard of average workers globally would be significantly smaller than we know in our timeline in the 1970s or 1980s. Rivality wouldn't exist, and, at the end, Russia would remain far behind the USA in military strength.
It's better for all of us that the scenario never happened.
