    I usually skip over your stuff since I am N scaler, but this one obviously is not scale specific. I think you did an excellent job explaining wireless NCE.
    I've been using the Bachmann E-Z DCC and anticipate soon needing a more capable system. Seeing wireless becoming easily available is giving me the itch to upgrade. Thanks for showing NCE as a good contender.

    Followed your directions to a tee, didn’t. Work. After doing a lot of research to no avail I sent the RB2 back. I was thinking wrong version. Then I ordered again which I got v2.1, didn’t work. Finally I took the ProCab apart to find two wires cut, right at joint. Join them up and all works. Thanks for you video to get me on the right track to begin with.

    Nice video Deryk! I do believe that using the SB5 smart booster only lets you program cabs 2-7. If you add the PH Pro to the system and assign it as the master (make the SB5 into a "dumb booster"), you get an additional 5 amps of power and can control up to 63 cabs.

    Hey Merry Christmas 🎅 Brother Deryk I wanna Tell ya Deryk watching your Videos Was what Helped Me Make the Big Big Dession to Go With the NCE'S SB5 .. I'm glad I got it, for It's Size & shape you can place it just about Anywhere Hooking it up was simple I did have to do a little adjusting to set up my Track Wiring but it wasn't nothing too complicated I am using my NCE ProCab-r along with my Extra PCP Pannel that I had Bought a few years back with nothing Hooked up to PCP the panel acts like a UTP she's passive Deryk..
    I did buy a Wireless RB02 a Few months ago back in July) And I set up the ProCab-r with a Different Address I used 05 for my Address ED Wilson says on the ProCab-r's the Cab Addresses Go from 02 to I believe 17 other Cabs can go up to 60.. When I was setting up my Wireless I did as it states and like you was doing in your Video Deryk but my ProCab when I was pressing the Horn button acted like it wanted to Hang up when I unhooked the RB02 and went back to Direct Wire the Hanging up went away it says in the instructions that Wireless devices might interfere with the performance but I shut all of my Cellphones off even my Wirless Landline Home phone.. So I don't know if the problem was in the RB02 or my ProCab-r it could be because we live in Apt. Deryk and there is a over Saturation of Wireless causing the Issue..
    But I did give it a Try.! And I'd like to try it again.. Maybe if we can get away from the Apt we live in me & my Folks are definitely Ready to move on too many Smokers 🤨 live here, where tired 😫 of putting up with that and noise they make Young College Kids living here off momma & daddies money till they move on.. I'm not against college & I'm not against kids getting there education but they have campus housing and thats where they should live.. On campus.. & not with Senior Residential Folks..
    But past that Little Gripe ☺ Deryk I Enjoyed all of your Video & have Enjoyed all your past Video and Hopefully I can send ya something for one of your T-Shirts I wanna get one from you if I can I like them Allot. You Take Care hope you had a Good Christmas cant wait to put 2020 in the Books and get into the New Year.! Have a safe Happy New Year's.. Allen

    Very interesting video, Deryk. Thanks. I have a request for a recommendation.
    I've been using Lenz, a basic system, with no boosters or anything else. As my modular layout grows, my DCC system will have to grow to handle more engines, but I think that I don't want to invest any more into Lenz, as I want something more ubiquitous, with lots of other people using it, for better understanding of my system and mutual support among modelers I'm leaning towards NCE, with Digitrax a close second. But I still have a lot to learn about DCC, though I am already familiar with programming CVs on my locos.
    I model in "Finescale S," (not American Flyer at all), and each engine consumes power only somewhat more than HO engines, but not that much. To summarize my eventual maximum power requirements: Four or five diesel engine consist on one mainline track, and perhaps a heavy steam double header on the other mainline track. One smallish steam loco on the narrow gauge track, and perhaps 1 or 2 switching activities elsewhere on the eventual completed modular layout. So briefly, a possible maximum of 9-10 engines. I also want wireless throttles. In the eventual completed layout, each of the standard-gauge mainlines will be as long as about 240', in a large circuit. Also a yard area, turntable, engine facilities, etc.
    I don't need that capability yet, so I am interested in a suggested course of incremental acquisition of an NCE system that will eventually be able to grow to handle the above maximum requirements. I don't want to have to replace components needlessly as things grow. Should I start with a power cab system (but if I understand, the power cab has a very low power capability), or should I purchase a more capable pro cab system to start out? I already have enough engines to run MU consists, though the mainlines aren't that long yet. I still don't understand too much how boosters work, but I'm sure that will be resolved after I successfully install my first one.
    My DCC buss wires run from module to module, and plug into each other with polarity controlled plugs. I'm hoping I won't have to redo my DCC bus wires. They work fine with my Lenz system.
    I model the UP, SP, D&RGW, WB, and ATSF, with the UP the favorite. However, some "foreign" power is always welcome. I do have an Erie USRA Heavy Pacific. I have done several successful DCC decoder installs in my locos, but I still have many that need to be converted.

    • @DGModelworks
      @DGModelworks  2 года назад

      well. you could do what I did and get boosters, or skip straight to an NCE Power Pro Wireless or Powerhouse Pro Wireless. If I had it do over again, I would have just got a bigger system to begin with. But I LOVE NCE....I don't have any experience with Digitrax but I have no reason to leave NCE.

    What AWG gauge do you recommend for the bus wires using the NCE SB5 Smart Booster? Thanks!

    • @DGModelworks
      @DGModelworks  2 года назад

      I always use either 12 or 14 AWG for bus wire, and 18 AWG for my feeder wires.

    • @DGModelworks

      You need either the the one that plugs in (Powercab) or the SB5 Smart Booster. The wireless one won't work just by itself. The wireless is just a throttle. The Powercab or the SB5 Smart Booster is the command station part of the system.

    MRC Advance2 or NCE Powercab? Which is the best choice. From newbie to hobby

    Another awesome video!! Went and finally hooked up my rb02 after watching! On another note, have you seen the WFD30? It’s a WiFi interface that just plugs into the Utp panel with a bus cord and generates a WiFi signal that you can use universal throttles, phones, and tablets!

    I followed the same way you did yours and its not working for me, it will work if the wire is connected and I can run trains that way but as soon as I unplug and it the E-stop button there is nothing. Now if I hold the E-stop button in the it just will say NCE Procab V1.3 cab address = 03 but will not go beyond that and the red light on top does not blink and the RB02 red lights also don't blink so I'm not sure what to do now. I have the same setup as you do I use the SB5 smart booster.

      The SB5 ends up being the brains, and the powercab throttle ends up being just like a Procab throttle.

      You can still program CV's, It has the ability to "Program On The Main". But it does not have the "Program Track" feature. So you can still make CV changes, but you won't be able to read any CV's
