Tricks, Secrets, Glitches, & More in Noki Bay in Super Mario Sunshine

- Noki Bay is a hidden sleeper. This isolated location tucked away on Isle Delfino is perhaps the most jam-packed stage in all of Super Mario Sunshine. It's all thanks to a bunch of unique objects that call Noki Bay home: springs, boats, grabbing fish, A GIANT EEL. Return appearances from Gooper Blooper and Monty Mole add to the pile, and topped off with fancy new coin tech and the wackiest secret-box glitch you'll ever see...get comfortable. This is going to be an adventure.
Sometimes I think Noki Bay goes unnoticed, and for good reason. The stage is a sharp difficulty spike, with awkward underwater controls that certainly don't help. The normally welcoming Piantas are non-existent, and the stage feels a bit empty. However, in revisiting Noki Bay for this episode, I realized, that's the whole point of Noki Bay. You may not remember the obnoxious poison water fondly, or enjoy "fighting" Eely-Mouth, but you'll feel better about Super Mario Sunshine overall. The change of pace is just what you needed to wake up. Or maybe, you've always liked Noki Bay. It's a great place for wall jumps. The view overlooking the waterfall is spectacular. And the music. Oooh, the music.
This is a series where we take a stage, level, or whatever, and dissect the most interesting bits and bobs! Let me know if you prefer the order by area instead of order by type!

Challenges: Only one challenge this time. Performing these glitches is challenging enough.

Seriously....these are some of my favorite videos on RUclips and I absolutely LOVED this episode. I don't know how you do it, but each episode keeps getting better and better!! Also, I think Noki Bay is my favorite destination on Isle Delfino...that may have contributed to my love of this episode lol!

Hey, I found a glitch a while ago accidentally in the secret box stage. I was in the middle of a speedrun, and I got to the final spinning block right before the shine. I think I dived into the peg or something (the red one if I remember correctly) and I got stuck inside of it, in a weird animation where he was bonking infinitely. Mario stayed stuck until he'd rotated 180 degrees and was fully underneath the platform. Once there, he got flung. I actually managed to get flung to an early part of the stage and survive. It was pretty miraculous, I had no extra lives when that happened but I kept going and it ended up being my first complete run of the game.

Hey, I’d love to see more videos from you. Your RUclips channel is one of my favorites and since Sunshine is my favorite game of all time I find myself revisiting your videos frequently. If you make a new video sometime soon, consider making more like this one OR a recent idea I had was exploring dialogue and character arcs in the game. There’s lots of different dialogue based on episodes and the status of the characters in the plaza (based on how many shines you have). No pressure or anything but seriously, I love your channel!!

54:15 I believe I have more footage of this in one of my streams. The reason seems to be that same reason for the ground pound earlier spinning due to the game not taking Mario's y-axis position (height) into account when calculating for some aerial movements, resulting in "magnetisms" like this, or teleportation in extreme cases like you found (which I think I have somewhat replicated). This "mechanic" is most easily seen when you try to do anything with the Pachinko board.
Every since I was a kid, I always wanted to explore the other stages from the stage I was currently in (like Delfino Plaza - Pinna Park). You seem to be a Sunshine expert, and I would love to see if this is possible to fulfill my curiosity.

I've always called Mario zoom ins Mario cam. I don't know if its because of Sunshine, because I have the memory of a goldfish, though I have. It just seemed appropriate. Anyways, always look foward to your uploads man. Keep it up.

People may not believe this but this is my favourite stage and I spent hours as a kid doing pretty similar things and this video. It touches my heart so much in a good way. I never spent this kind of time on any other stage and don't really remember why I loved this one in specific so much but it's really interesting to see a kindred soul discovering some things I thought only I might have seen.

Pinna Park I can understand because of Episode 2 where you can just farm the bullet bills for coins, and Sirena Beach has the casino with infinite coins from the slot mini game (I think?), but Delfino Plaza and Pianta Village leave me curious.
Actually, I think that he showed off a trick in Pianta Village a while ago where you can get infinite coins by continuously spraying a Pianta that's on fire but it's super slow to the point where it would take hours of just doing a super monotonous task just to get to 999 coins.
@@swiftshock2615 Getting coins in Delfino Plaza is super easy. Once you unlock the ability to go back to Delfino Airstrip, you can just keep going back and forth between airstrip and plaza and the coins reset everytime (but your coin counter doesn't).
I'm actually not sure you can get infinite coins from the casino, though. I remember back when I was grinding 100 coins in Sirena Beach that once you get triple 7's, they can't spawn any coins anymore.
@@Syprone If I remember correctly, you had to get the running pianta to keep falling and getting buried in the goo, and then when you saved him he'd give you a coin.
@@abcdefzhij In the boss battle with king boo he can give you coins. You can get endless coins doing this.

Great video, glad I clicked it for no real reason. You know I spent a bunch of time playing this game when Iw as younger and never beat it because I didn't know Noki Bay existed since it never really clicked to look directly into the sun on that one spot in town lol.
