You should try these Indian dishes: Vada Pav Chole Bhature Chole Kulche Shahi or Mughlai Paneer Mutton Rogan Josh Malai Kofta (These are primarily North Indian dishes)
There’s a local Indian restaurant near my home that has masala fries and they make Indian poutine with the fries topped with paneer tikka masala, finely chopped onions and coriander and they are my FAVORITE. They also make tandoori chicken skewers with a lemon garlic sauce for dipping. During the pandemic, they were the only place open and they rigged up this cool drop off/pick up box thing outside of the restaurant and I’m telling you…they are what got me through that entire experience. 😂 I worked from home and it was really hard bc my job is hard to do remotely and some of my worst days were saved by Indian food.
Indian food is soooo good, i do love to be basic and get butter chicken and garlic naan, but lamb rogan rosh and samosa chaat are also so good. I dont live in India so i feel lucky there are several indian resturants near where i live.
Yes don't stick with the basic butter chicken and Naan everytime. Go ahead and explore because Indian food is so diverse and there are so many other absolutely savory dishes that you'll fall in loveeeee in the first bite. Try kebabs, butter kulcha, chicken tandoori if the Indian restaurants at your place has it. That's North Indian cuisine for you. Also if they have South Indian cuisines like idli, masala dosa, you can give them a try as well.
Rogan josh is a Kashmiri( Indian) dish. There are so many types of chicken made in india. If you are into spice , try saoji chicken ( made in Maharashtra). There are different ways to make chicken, depending from state to state. 😊
Try sambar, daal chawal, curry rices, fish recipes, paneer dishes, dosa idli, kachori, jalebi.. There are so many more.. Try them butter chicken is ofc not an authentic Indian food it's an anglicised indian food
