  • Inshore saltwater fishing is always good in Tampa Bay and it's even better when it's on the flats while using topwater lures for snook and redfish. In this episode of Head First Fishing, we setup on a shallow point in lower Tampa Bay at the beginning of the incoming tide. Everything needed for a great day of fishing was there including: moving water, good water temperatures, baitfish, beautiful seagrass, and a nice mangrove shoreline. As the tide rushed in around the corner, the bait stacked up against the point. This drew in the predators that we were after. The snook and redfish were gorging on schools of finger mullet and scaled sardines/ pilchards/ greenbacks. There were large schools of big mullet all around making it obvious that there was alot of life in the area. It didn't take long, a few casts with the +Rapala Skitter Walk had the fish excited. The topwater blowups and explosions began and went on for around 2 hours. The bite was unbelievable.

    Those single replacement circle hooks are key. Less weeds and more hook ups! Way to go!

      Right place right time. They were blasting schools of bait right next to the boat.

    Topwater is probably the most fun you can have catching fish. Have you tried changing the trebles to single hooks? I put them on a spook jr and started hooking up at a better rate. Live target makes great baits.

    Here is a great tip for you and thanks for the video. Next time try using a snap clip on a #4 khale hook. Place heat shrink tube over the snap where the line would go and shrink it down. Now, pop that on the top hook on the back. No more missed blow ups. They will have that last hook every time.

      @@HeadFirstFishing first of incoming seems best, all of the spoils from north of causeway to clw bridge have oysters, i power pole down and work the edges of the beds. swimbaits, topwater(early), and mirodines work for me.

    What's your line and leader line

  • @JayMarley-mf9jt
    @JayMarley-mf9jt 6 дней назад

    Reason you had so many misses because your rod is too light need a more stiffer fast rod

      I know it. At the time I only had my charter rods.
