Is that the way others saw it too or is this me misinterpreting the whole thing? Either way, I hope she can look back and still be proud she made it to the 08 Olympics!

China still would have won by 6 tenths if Alicia didn’t fall twice, and Cheng Fei of China also had a fall on beam, so China had on average much higher difficulty than USA, so Alicia not falling twice would have made no difference.
And despite that, she is a 2x bronze Olympic team medallist, Olympic champion on vault and on floor (I was 5'5 when I was an elite, so I have the utmost respect for Izbasa).
Medalists often do that when they pose for a picture. It's just a tradition. And it's not just the Olympics or even sports-people do it whenever they get any kind of medal.

The truth is the Chinese team deserved to win because they were outstanding in every event while the USA...Alicia fell more than once and that cost the team more than just one point. The USA got 2nd because two of the team members pulled the score back up. Just because the US didn't win doesn't mean other countries were cheating or bribing the judges
