what is astounding to me about MJ's adjusted numbers being are nearly identical to Bron's had he played as a PG, is that those adjustments are using numbers with MJ still exerting all that energy on the DEFENSIVE side of the ball as well. Think about that. if Lebron is playing elite defense like MJ, is his numbers really going to be what they are or will they go down with all that energy being used? If MJ was resting himself on the defensive side of the ball, what crazy numbers would he have then if he only focused on offense? Aside from the winning, the commitment to playing elite on both sides of the court is what will always separate the two players for me.

That's why some of the greats like Dominique Wilkins said it's difficult to tell how good Kobe and Jordan really were because your position changes your stats. LeBron was basically given a team to control out of high school, we've seen all he can do. We haven't seen all Kobe or Mike can do, especially Kobe who shared the team with Shaq for 8 years, and didn't play much the first two

We've also never seen Mike play with the hand-check rule. The removal of hand checking came around the mid-2000's and the
scoring of perimeter players increased league wide. Imagine MJ playing in an era where you couldn't put your hands on him without
      being whistled for a foul.

The idea is that he instantly becomes another type of player from day 1. He could get even better results if he had more time to adjust to the new role.
Another aspect: Phil Jackson's triangle offense approach, Jordan scored less than before. However, when it was necessary, Jordan takes control of the game and switch to a turbo mode in all game aspects (consecutive points, defense, assists).

I've never thought of MJ as a SG. I know it was his "position" for his career, however, trying to define his practically perfect skill package within one position is too limiting. He was the best at everything. The one thing his run as the point guard proved, was how incredibly coachable and humble MJ was. Despite being the undisputed best player on Earth, he was always wanting to improve and get better. This included gaining strength and muscle through weight training in order to beat the Pistons. MJ wanted to win so badly he would sacrifice or do whatever Doug Collins (and later Phil Jackson having the Bulls play in the Triangle Offense) needed him to do. He was the ultimate winner and greatest athlete to ever play a team sport.

I will watch this when it goes live. I just want to comment. Young Air Jordan was very point guard like. He had the Stephen Curry like effect where getting the ball drew double teams where he could pass the ball off for assists.
Older Jordan was great, but didn't have that affect to this extreme degree. Jordan also played point guard like in the 1991 playoffs and NBA finals. Lil Unc if you prefer point guard-like MJ, thats the 1988-1991 seasons and playoffs

    UNSTOPPABLE!! 😂🤣😅
Jordan avg'd 32pts, 8 Reb, 8 Ast as a Point Guard... in the REGULAR SEASON.
This was after an OFF-SEASON in which Jordan told Coach Doug Collins and the Bulls that he (Jordan) saw no need to work on a Post Up game.
However, the Bulls were eliminated by the Pistons, and it was because Jordan couldn't handle Isiah Thomas.

There was literally nothing he couldn't do. Basketball should (especially now) be the least compartmentalized sport. I've seen Jordan win tip-offs at the beginning of the game (against Jack Sikma), be the best player in the league in 1992 in the low post (utilization of the triangle - automatic two points if he's fouled and goes to the line-- it doesn't matter if it was power dunks off the block, the guy was scoring from posting up), having 125 plus blocks two seasons in a row, going deep (not just Portland, he shot 37 percent in 1990, and has a killer three point shooting percentage lifetime in the finals). There are a lot of holistic players, but they all have one glaring thing he can't do - i.e. Magic and Bird pressure defense (especially on traps), Lebron (free-throw consistency), Wilt (anything beyond 10 feet), Kareem (leading the fast break, handling the ball).

  • @seriesx9508
    @seriesx9508 Год назад +1

As for the video. Jordan did not need to stay as point guard. The 1990s Chicago Bulls are a defensive team without too many scorers. The 1993 NBA championships would be extremely difficult to win without MJ averaging 42 points per game.

How about you add in what if Lebron stayed in Cleveland his whole career like Mike stayed in Chicago. How many rings does Lebron actually win if he stays in Cleveland if you actually make a comparison with things being equal. Imo Lebron only has one maybe two rings if he played in Cleveland his whole career. The comparison isn’t even close, Lebron is no where near MJ level.

What people don't understand is how much the Wizards years tanked Jordan's numbers. That's going to happen to LeBron eventually. He's going to have a couple down years at the end of his career before he hangs them up and they're going to destroy his averages just like they did to Jordan.

Young Lebron played in the defensive era. You can also react to young Lebron games. Pre-2010 Lebron vs Kobe games. Of course, reacting to Kobe, Lebron, and Jordan videos would likely lead to arguing from those 3 fanbases. So maybe, you may not want to put up with that. Kobe and Lebron fans are also enemies

    • @punkem733

The defensive era was over the year before lebron went into the league with getting rid of hand checking and the fact a big man couldn't stand under the basket anymore all day like the REAL defensive era. I'm sure it was 2002 or 2003 when these rules went into effect. There shouldn't be any argument between the three fanbases, well maybe kobe and lebron. MJ is so far ahead of those two.

@@punkem733 that’s not true at all. The def name was still incredibly intense till around 2010. Anyone who watched those finals between 2005-2009 would know that those were slug fests. Point guard Jordan may not win as many championships. There are too many games where Bulls players kept bricking and MJ had to outscore the other team.
Against the Utah Jazz, MJ needs to be a scorer, not a point guard. Pippen wasnt dependable during those games either. MJ needed to be a scorer
