Nice! Great fly. And, counter-wrapping with the wire is so important to fly durability.
Love the gape on that hook, relative to the original Tiemco 200R, but that wire appears awfully heavy (medium heavy) for a dry fly.

Thanks, glad you like it. Yes it’s a heavier wire, however I’ve never had one of these sink. It’s a stimulator which floats high as is. The gap is quite a bit larger also yeah. Any 200r variant will work though for this fly, heck I even see people tie them on straight hooks.

@@McFlyAngler I've tied 'em on TMC 200R, TMC 2302 (my favorite - go one size larger on the hook due to the 2x length), TMC 2312 (another favorite), Daiichi 1270, Dai Riki 270, other curved hooks and straight shank hooks (even Mustad 9672 in desperation) when the curved hooks aren't available. Stims float well but will sink, even when treated thoroughly with floatant - after repeated casting in heavy water; would be awesome to find a fine or medium wire 3x large gape to use for some of these flies. Always good to have multiples of this classic fly as backups!

Attempted to tie this fly one time with not to good success, because I didn't have the right kind of hook. I will try it again soon. A good fly to have in your box. Definitely enjoyed watching. Thanks. Tight lines. 👍

Thank you, glad you liked the video. Yeah these can be tough and especially with the wrong hooks, you want a long shank. You can get away without the curved hook, but you definitely need a long shank. The curved hooks look better though
