- This Sunday Leeds Rhinos will take on Hull KR in James Donaldson's testimonial game and the former Bradford and Hull KR forward says he is proud that he has come through the adversity he has faced on and off the field throughout his career.
Donaldson was a teenage star when he moved from Cumbria to Bradford back in 2008 however two major knee injuries early in his career, financial woes with Bradford, relegations with the Bulls and Hull KR and being left without a contract leaving contemplating life as a delivery driver is just part of his story.
Off the field, James is inspired by his parents and his brother, who was left paralysed after an accident at the family's farm and that drive led him to pushing himself to get a trial and subsequent contract at Leeds Rhinos that he says has changed his life.
Player dedicated to his rugby .times can be difficult .he keeps going.I am sure his future is will be positive .not just a athlete a very intelligent man.allways a smile for fans .good luck to you James.
Deserves everything that comes his way Donno. Is he the most gifted player, no, but if you had 17 of him in your side you’d win more than you lose
