I played this game about 20 years ago. I remember it was a cool logic game. Level 1 is easy, 2 is good, 3 is difficult and on level 4 I was never able to win.
Thanks!! Where can it be found to play apart from C64?! I've been looking for it for 20 years. All I got until today was "Pirates!", I couldn't find the title. Thanks!!!
(notes to self, just trying to figure out all of the game dynamics.) 5:22 Purple guy enters enemy ship, doesn't seem to attack anyone, then immediately appears back in his own ship (nothing really happened) 5:38 Green guy enters enemy ship, seems to take out 1 enemy, then seems to disappear himself (both sides lose a guy) So basically the only way to take out an enemy without also taking out your own guys is by swiping them on the ropes.

The board game version of Piracy has the following rules, which explain what happened here. When a door is blown: (a) All the opponent's pirates behind that door are killed and immediately taken off the board. (b) The attacker immediately gets a man back in the cannon door of the attacker's ship which is directly horizontally opposite to the opponent's blown door. ... (d) The attacker will always get a man back by moving pirates into a claimed blown door on the opponent's ship until the opponent blows (claims) the door on the attacker's ship which is directly horizontally opposite to the opponent's blown door. (e) When both doors directly horizontally opposite to each other on both ships have been blown (claimed), no more pirates can come back to either side through these blown doors. Pirates who jump into blown doors claimed by both players commit suicide and are immediately taken off the board. So when the purple pirate blows the door, rules (a) and (b) apply. But when the green one blows the opposite door not only he kills the opponent pirate because of the rule (a), but also dies himself because of the rule (e).
I didn't know there was a board game with this gameplay. Have any links by chance?

Unfortunately the company which produced it (Bungalow Entertainment) does not exist any more, but you can find some more information about the game at boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/46961/piracy

I really loved this game. Simple, but great. Like checkers.
