I like to think Big Boss changed his voice on purpose during the coma to stay hidden. When he was cloned, Solidus took that voice, while Solid was the only one with the natural voice. Liquid gained strong vocals because of his dominant genes.
I kinda preferred the idea that Liquid was able to possess Ocelot through his arm before they just went "nanomachines bra" for everything supernatural. Liquid was a bad ass and short lived, but instead it diminished Ocelots character in my opinion by claiming he'd had therapy to perfectly mimic Liquid and what not. I don't mind the supernatural in a sci-fi, but they should have ran with it rather than trying to explain it with pseudo-science.
Snake actually during mgs2 Liquid very much indeed possessed liquid partly, but after these events ocelot went to get his liquid arm replaced with a robotic arm and injected nanomachines and some genes of liquid into himself.
Such a shame Fortune went out like that, in the end she protected both Snakes, Raiden, and herself with one of the biggest middle fingers to Ocelot's Nanomachines and Cutting-Edge technology bs, and died after a long journey of pain and misery She would've liked to meet Otacon, just saying
Yeah, but ocelot did it to free big boss and fool the patriot system, ocelot always had his right arm in the past, he just switched it with liquid's arm to obtain liquids personality + theory and all the other bullshit
Liquid: "Snake, You coming?" Snake: "GRAAHHHH......" *falls together* Raiden: "SNAKE!" *Solidus: "Well, that was something. I'm third son anyway, doesn't care about "older" brothers matter..." ._.*
There is no such thing as the Supernatural, only cutting edge technology, now if you'll excuse me, since it's not retconned yet, i'll go before the spirit in my right arm takes over my body, also fun fact, my father was a spirit apparition.
at 14:20 when Liquid takes over, RAY stands upright. Looks an awful lot like the posture of MG Sahelanthropus (SP?) from MGSV, when liquid is just a kid. Don't know if it's intentional, but pretty cool.
Wondering what the heck Snake was trying to do jumping into the ocean with Ray. That thing will outswim him and his suit won't suffice in chilly waters.
Looking back, Liquid Ocelot was a bit of a mistake honestly. Kojima going as far to say that Ocelot planned it all and was doing a Liquid cosplay comes off as him trying to redo a plot point he came to regret.
I thought back then that they should have either brought Liquid back in person (their original plan) or just left Ocelot alone as himself. Liquid "surviving" through an arm was the dumbest plot ever, even after they explained it.
@@lockardthegoat5157 Kojima's main problem is that he treated every MGS like it would be his last. As such, he got rid of characters he could have used in later games(it's a miracle he didn't kill Ocelot in MGS1) and he has to retcon things to include them one way or another(Gray Fox is a perfect example of this. He was blown to bits in MG2, yet somehow he survived both that and Zanzibar's destruction) Kojima himself said that , had he known he would make another MGS, he wouldn't have killed Liquid.
It's strange that he always intended every MGS game to be the last given that every single game aside from the last one leaves us hanging with a cliffhanger that feels like it's setting up for a sequel, ESPECIALLY the second one.
Snake diving after Ray is seriously badass and only serves to remind me how utterly devastating it is having to spend the majority of this game as Raiden cartwheeling about with a gay vampire.
I haven't watched the MGS4 ending in probably 15 years, but after watching this, I wouldn't be surprised if the whole "Ocelot wasn't possessed by Liquid's ghost, that was just self hypnotism" twist was a retcon, what with the whole voice changing thing and being the son of a psychic with Liquid's right arm.
it’s not a retcon, this is actually Liquid, he possessed Ocelot on the Tanker and Big Shell incidents. In between MGS2 and MGS4 Ocelot gets rid of the real Liquid arm and gets a robotic one (the one we see in MGS4), so to still mess with Snake he hypnotized himself to still believe that Liquid possessed him, that’s why in MGS2 when Liquid appears he actually has his voice, and in MGS4 even when “Liquid” is in control, he had Ocelot's voice, it’s because it’s Ocelot all along
Yeah it’s basically a retcon but you can basically make room in Kojima’s inconsistent writing to make it work. Ngl though I prefer this version where it’s supernatural instead of more nanomachine BS.
Things I'm just wondering right now. - Why does Solidus bother to tell Fortune to get to cover? She's an underling who just tried to betray him. - Why does Fortune bother to use her inexplicable telekinetic powers to shield herself and the rest from Ocelot's missiles? She's been looking to die for some time and no one around her matters to her. - Why does Solid bother to tell Solidus to get down? I can understand Raiden, but his murderous clone bro?
Good questions and i even wondered m self on ur last question. My best explanation is that everyone came together at that moment to fight a bigger threat than themselves. At least that's what I could come up with.
1. Do you mean when says, "You idiot! Get the hell away from there!"? I took it less out of compassion (although he didn't want Fortune dead, she just wasn't part of his plans anymore), more just "You're not going to help us that way" 2. She's just been told everything she's lived through, all her misery as well as her inability to end it, was scripted under someone else's control. It's like she's clinging to some shred of belief that there was something real to her, her abilities, beyond the Patriots control 3. He just says, "Everyone, get down!", right? It'd be kind of weird if he yelled out, "Raiden, and Fortune too I guess, get down! Solidus, fuck you!", lol. Think it was just a spur of the moment combat thing
The whole point was to see if they could create a solid snake through similar situations or memes. The theme of mgs1 was genes. The theme of mgs2 was memes
Asskickingness2014 It did and it led to the war economy which dominated the world after the events of MGS2 in which the Patriots were able to control through their machines in MGS4 as Drebin, Eva and Big Boss explained to Snake.
@@TheEnigma271 no, that was a lie... S3 was the selection for societal sanity, a program to see if the patriot ai could shape world events through media manipulation... The AI colonel and Rose literally explain it to you 😂
That no supernatural comment is absolutely hilarious because literally every game in the series has at least one glaringly supernatural character It’s especially hilarious coming from Ocelot because his dad was a ghost in the very next installment
freezer That's pretty much it really. Let's disregard the fact that Kojima hasn't planned that far ahead and thought MGSV was going to be a thing. Even Skullface said that once he dies, he'll just be another phantom forgotten in history because The Patriots controlled information and they wanted him gone entirely. I'm assuming that all the research and creations of Skullface were either erased or they kept it and found other ways to implement it better, case in point, Foxdie.
None of Ocelot’s actions here make any sense with what we learn in MGS4 that this is all part of his plan to free Big Boss. One more big piece of evidence that it was a weird, canon-destroying retcon from a game Kojima never wanted to make.

Did anyone else feel really, REALLY bad for what happened to Fortune?
No she wanted to fucking nuke new york
I mean you're supposed to feel bad for fortune. The hint is kinda in her code name
People double cross a lot in this game huh?
Ocelot quadruple crosses just about everyone.
Every game.
Even Boss.
Liquid doesn't even have his original body for pete's sake and he can still double cross.
Its pretty much the entire story
Well technically, he never crosses Big Boss.
almost as if it was written by George RR Martin
Liquid Ocelot: There only room for one snake and one Big Boss. That is one badass line from 💧 liquid Snake 🐍
The boss said it first
How Ocelot said “a orchestrated recreation of Shadow Moses” makes it sounds like that’s his dream
This game's story is unique, it makes me both understand and not understand it at the same time
I'd have gone with schizophrenic over unique, but they are iconic.😅
The scene that made everyone go WTF? Honestly, it took two full games to explain all the questions this scene raised.
Na I disagree. It makes Ocelot look fucking retarded. There’s no way he’d let Liquid take over his body when he has 2 fucking years to get rid of it
@@captainmacmellon8909 its even more retarded he'd fuck his mind up to think like liquid when he has the real one in there
@@canevas1017 wait was Liquid *actually* possessing Ocelot at any point? Wtf
@@N7spongy yes in mgs2
My favorite cutscene from MGS2
13:09 that smoke effect is the best iv ever seen in any video game till now 2018/02/16
Es aquí cuando ocelot paso de ser un antagonista genérico a unos de los mejores personajes escrito de toda la saga de metal gear
Can't believe this game is nearly 20 years old. Still holds up and for me, the best game in the series.
So much was set up with liquid in this game and mgs4 completely threw it away
Yeah it’s disappointing. The final fight is still sick but I was disappointed at what Kojima did to the Liquid Ocelot idea in the end.
"She IS lady luck..." my favorite scene
Such a shame Fortune went out like that, in the end she protected both Snakes, Raiden, and herself with one of the biggest middle fingers to Ocelot's Nanomachines and Cutting-Edge technology bs, and died after a long journey of pain and misery
She would've liked to meet Otacon, just saying
Don't you just hate that feeling when you get your arm back only to have it control your mind?
Yeah, but ocelot did it to free big boss and fool the patriot system, ocelot always had his right arm in the past, he just switched it with liquid's arm to obtain liquids personality + theory and all the other bullshit
As it turns out this actually was liquid controlling ocelot. Which is why he got rid of liquid's arm and replaced it with a prosthetic one in mgs4.
Fucking love how solidus swords have that blue glow
Explanation for anything supernatural in MGS
Parasites = Big Boss era
Nanomachines = Solid Snake era
14:40 I love Liquid’s delivery here. Idk why, he just sounds so happy to get to monologue to his bros.
Though i believe MGS is the singularity in the univers of this game, the ending of MGS2 is masterful and up there
Good game..
This game's story confused the hell out of me playing it back when I was a teenager.
Brothers I've been waiting for this.
Best part was when solid snake screamed noo.. then you realised how hopeless the situation in that moment really was.
14:40 BROTHAS!!!!
Before everyone freaks out, the line about there being no such thing as the supernatural is a mistranslation.
Liquid: "Snake, You coming?"
Snake: "GRAAHHHH......" *falls together*
Raiden: "SNAKE!"
*Solidus: "Well, that was something. I'm third son anyway, doesn't care about "older" brothers matter..." ._.*
This game has oddly gotten more relevant with age.
That's because this game was directly predicting the age of technology we're currently living in
I'll squeeze the answers out of you instead my son! Was anyone else literally not able to press the button that fast on extreme?
There is no such thing as the Supernatural, only cutting edge technology, now if you'll excuse me, since it's not retconned yet, i'll go before the spirit in my right arm takes over my body, also fun fact, my father was a spirit apparition.
Ocelot was hypocrite.
at 14:20 when Liquid takes over, RAY stands upright. Looks an awful lot like the posture of MG Sahelanthropus (SP?) from MGSV, when liquid is just a kid.
Don't know if it's intentional, but pretty cool.
Solidus is a beast for dodging those bullets with his swords.
Hehehehe... sorry to drop by here boys! ;))

Wondering what the heck Snake was trying to do jumping into the ocean with Ray. That thing will outswim him and his suit won't suffice in chilly waters.
One of my favorite part of Metal gear
Ocelot: No, not now!
Me: ...No way, he didn't just-
Ocelot: BRO'ER
Me: FUCK
All this only for Ocelot to get a chance to revive Big Boss, a true friend and fanboy :)
Ocelot: "there is no magic only cutting edge technology"
Also ocelot 5 minutes later being posesed by liquid's hand.
16:53 snake really has an obsession with Metal Gears.
Nobody:
Liquid: BROTHERRRRRR
Snake: LIQUID!!
Raiden:SNAAAAAKE
Solidus: wtf?
only solid snake goes after a metal gear with nothing but a broken handcuffs and a bandana!
@@lockardthegoat5157
Kojima's main problem is that he treated every MGS like it would be his last. As such, he got rid of characters he could have used in later games(it's a miracle he didn't kill Ocelot in MGS1) and he has to retcon things to include them one way or another(Gray Fox is a perfect example of this. He was blown to bits in MG2, yet somehow he survived both that and Zanzibar's destruction)
Kojima himself said that , had he known he would make another MGS, he wouldn't have killed Liquid.
Not really,raiden is cool
Raiden is cooler than you could ever hope to be
i love mgs2 but lol
Best comment ever haha
I still don't get the raiden hate. Just because you can't play as snake for half a game? Bro you get literally EVERY other game to be him
I haven't watched the MGS4 ending in probably 15 years, but after watching this, I wouldn't be surprised if the whole "Ocelot wasn't possessed by Liquid's ghost, that was just self hypnotism" twist was a retcon, what with the whole voice changing thing and being the son of a psychic with Liquid's right arm.
it’s not a retcon, this is actually Liquid, he possessed Ocelot on the Tanker and Big Shell incidents.
From what I can understand, It seems end in the end that the Patriots managed to do a re-telling of Metal Gear Solid 3 than Metal Gear Solid.
Ocelot the true her of the MGS series. If you think about it we play as Snake or Raiden and we almost just watch his plan.
I just sat here and listened to Ocelot explain his entire plan, and I still don't know what the fuck is going on. I guess that's Metal Gear for ya.
The best part is - neither does Kojima

@@elcalabozodelandroide2 Ugh
1. Do you mean when says, "You idiot! Get the hell away from there!"? I took it less out of compassion (although he didn't want Fortune dead, she just wasn't part of his plans anymore), more just "You're not going to help us that way"
2. She's just been told everything she's lived through, all her misery as well as her inability to end it, was scripted under someone else's control. It's like she's clinging to some shred of belief that there was something real to her, her abilities, beyond the Patriots control
3. He just says, "Everyone, get down!", right? It'd be kind of weird if he yelled out, "Raiden, and Fortune too I guess, get down! Solidus, fuck you!", lol. Think it was just a spur of the moment combat thing
Una de las mejores si no es la mejor escena de toda la saga de Metal Gear
the whole point of the Patriots training program on big shell is to see if the A.I. can manipulate wirld events, it succeeded
The AI colonel and Rose literally explain it to you 😂
That no supernatural comment is absolutely hilarious because literally every game in the series has at least one glaringly supernatural character
It’s especially hilarious coming from Ocelot because his dad was a ghost in the very next installment
THEN WHY WAS THE SKULLS TECH NEVER REPRODUCED???
I'm assuming when Code Talker passed away, parasite tech could never be further developed or understood.
+Jackson Myers something something patriot covered up the tech something something parasites
because the parasite ended up becoming FOXDIE
+freezer nanomachines son...
freezer
That's pretty much it really.
MGS4 retcons so much it hurts. Shame because it’s presentation at times is top notch.
Ocelot is the true hero of metal gear all he wanted was to collapse everything
He wanted to bring back big boss who would have turned the world into endless chaos and war so he isn't a good guy.
Can't believe we had to wait years to see what happened next.
imagine this happens to Joji during a live concert and he switches to Filthy Frank and starts singing pink guy songs
Comment made me chuckle ngl
And by the way my pet rat
I was the one who ate your parents!
What if Fortune just walked off as Ocelot laughed?
