  • Today I'm starting the Wild Atlantic Way in my motorhome tour of Ireland- and it's even crazier than I expected! Found a fantastic parkup by the most beautiful beach, made it all the way to the famous Mizen Head... and then decided to drive up a road most definitely not built with motorhomes in mind!
If you've missed the first few videos of my Ireland motorhoming trip, you can find video one here:

    ABOUT WANDERING BIRD
In 2018, I quit my job as an air traffic controller to travel in a van. That's adulting, right?
Since then, I've spent most of my time living in a motorhome, touring the UK and Europe, sometimes with my husband, sometimes with my daughter and sometimes enjoying solo female vanlife (well, with my dog, Mac!)
Wandering Bird was created to help motorhomers and campervanners make the most of their time on the road.
We share weekly tips, tricks and reviews to encourage and inspire your next adventure, whether you're a complete motorhoming beginner, or a more experienced owner looking for new ideas or places to visit.

Lovely to see more of your adventures, glad Mac is ok now. My Coco did the same on our holiday a few months ago but she did it all over the bed so we had to return home to get replacement bedding. I’ve learnt to take extras just in case.

Well done, you nailed it! Don't we love these designated motorhome parking spots! Wish there were more in England. Keep the good work!

Scotland had to do something about the hoards of vans heading North after the lockdown and we’re parking everywhere to the annoyance of locals and whilst we love to welcome people here we don’t like what is called “ wildcamping” and the solution is to do these park ups and hope people use them. Pleased you like them because it shows it’s working

I’m loving your journey! I love the normality of your vlogging. You show it warts and all! Not literally! The wotsits…doggy vom!! I didn’t realise you were full time now on your own. Complete fair play to you 👌Wonderful Warrior Woman!! You have your doggy though like me so we’re never alone really. I can chat away…yes completely barking! Keep going..I admire inspirational people! 👌🚐👏👏👏🥰

I take it you met all the buses coming the other way on the Ring of Kerry? That is the way to do it if you’ve a smaller vehicle, so you can miss the bus loads of people at all the places you want to see.

I went the same way as the buses- apart from one memorable section!

Well done on navigating the Healy Pass, I haven't been but it looks stunning. You are very brave to be doing this all on your own (ok, you got your canine friend!). FYI - Beara would be pronounced "bare-ah". You may already know about them but Lost in Transit have some amazing videos of their trip around the Irish coastline. They might give you some ideas of places to see/visit. When you are in the Galway/Sligo area, I would recommend that you visit Achill Island, Keem bay is very pretty and you may recognise it from the The Banshees of Inisherin movie where it was filmed. Also, if passing through Enniscrone, you gotta go for a seaweed bath. Downpatrick and the Ceide fields (if interested in history/geology) is worth a visit. That part of the coast is not as busy as Kerry/Clare/Cork but just (more!) beautiful.
Safe travelling. Its so lovely to see our closest neighbours visiting and enjoying what Ireland has to offer.

Nice vlog, thanks. We did the Healy pass on our RT1150. A strong gust of wind nearly took it of the stand when we stopped at the bottom for a photo where your film of the pass started. I would give the Conor pass a miss in your van as it gets tight at the top and very busy, but by now you're back in the UK so maybe next time.😂

Great video yet again. Really enjoying your channel which we just recently discovered. Do you still like your Tom Tom camper max 7 on this Ireland trip given the navigating challenges?
We’re thinking of buying one once we collect our motorhome soon. Many thanks, Pete & Nicky

I don’t mind sleeping on an angle. Way easier to do that then faff about with chocks I just change ends on the bed

Excellent video. However, i strongly dissgree with your advice about the Healy Pass. It is not suitable for motorhomes. It is not only difficult but extremely dangerous. It should be one way only and have regular passing spots like they have in Britain. There are sheer unprotected drops alonh the road. There will ba a major tragedy there some day. Apologies, I don't wish to put people off an otherwise spectacular drive. Another thing is, the Wild Atlantic Way is not all along the coast, it just joins various areas of coastal roads. Happy Travelling.
