Hello...great videos, we appreciate the info and the scenery. I had the 2021 CRF 300L Rally for about a year and I loved that bike. Took it on dirt and some challenging single track trails, streets, freeways, and commuting to work. That bike handled great anywhere I went. Super fun bike light quick and nimble. In a perfect world I would have enough money and space to keep all the bikes I've owned over the years. I traded up to a Yamaha Super Tenere 1200 ES, mainly because my wife started to enjoy riding together and the CRF although it had foot pegs for a passenger it was not meant for two people. The Super Ten, is a different beast all together, my wife and I love riding together now. It handles well and although heavy it feels much lighter as you get underway. Corners well and it's a very comfortable two up riding machine. Crusie control, electronic suspension easy to control, heated grips. Wonderful bike. By the way we might visit Romania in 2023 and looking forward to meeting you. Cheers. Catalin from Portland Oregon, USA.

Dear, thanks a lot for the PERFECT ANALYSIS. You are helping me so mush! It is clear that you are not speaking as a reporter (who is paid by a Brand). Your option is a clear biker option with many kms of riding. Realy you have born in a Garage and grow up on the Trails!!! Congratulation! A friend from Greece.
I really appreciate the comparison! I'm on the fence between these two as a purchase for next spring. I currently own an XSR900, so if I go with the T7, it would replace my XSR. If I go with the CRF, it would be a second bike as I would keep the XSR. I don't really have any experience riding off road, so I'm leaning toward the cheaper CRF, plus I wouldn't mind having two bikes. Regardless, I will own a T7 at some point.
My recommendation would be the 300 until you have more experience off road. The 700 can be a handful off-road and the reality is that in the average rider's hands, it is not safe to take the T7 anywhere other than pavement or a gravel road. It's just too heavy for any serious techincal off-road riding in average hands. Weight is the master off-road, that's why I have an excf for techincal off-road, and the T7 for more adventure style riding. I've also owned the 250L and the 300 is a great bike to learn dirt on.
The suspension on the CRF, notably the rear shock and spring, is downright dangerous when pushed. A must upgrade for anything off road, in my view. Admittedly, I have farkled the absolute crap out of mine. K tech shock, Race tech front, crash cage, skid plate, rack, wraparounds, 550 tune and airbox mods, full exhaust, LED headlight, tires etc. etc.
Great video! I live in Medellin Colombia and we don't have a US version of the Honda 300 Rally We have Honda 300 XRE Rally. it is one of 3 bikes considering now. I have a big Yammie bolt 950 which I use daily in the city. This new bike will be to leave the city road about 60 to 70% of the time graded gravel roads and single tracks as often as possible 30 to 40% of the time. When we leave the city and get to smaller towns they use speed bumps of every size to control speeding. In a way, this puts the rally in a great spot bcs only a quick blip. The roads here especially once you get outside the city are full of potholes. So why no panniers on the back after adding spring? Would be good to protect the rear of the bike from any damage. would be good for a weekend trip. I will be adding springs, and handlebars, and thinking of ECU unit and pipes to up the power a bit. our model doesn't have inversed front suspension and confused about what I can do for that. Any ideas?
Thank you so much for watching. In fact, now, I do have that mosko moto backcountry paniers on the CRF. They are perfect !!! I use them on the racks by Outback motortech. The rear side of the bike? I fixed the issue by closing the eyes and ordering a complete rear shock absorber with custom spring and rebound adjustment 😃. Just close the eues and click "buy" and forget about it, that is the way to do it 😀. The shock absorber is a Nitron R1. It totally changed the way the bike handles. It is just awsome ! Good luck
I think if you can only have one bike, the T7 is a must. However, if you’re able to own two bikes I feel like the CRF300 is an excellent bike to keep as you use the other slot to rotate through different bikes that interest you.
Interesting video. Thanks. I would like to add that I am getting closer to 400 km to a tank on my T7. The reserve light starts flashing when there is still 1/4 of fuel left, that's about 100 km remaining in the tank when the low fuel warning comes on. When I ran the tank bone dry as a range experiment, I put on 415 km and that's when the engine wasn't broken in yet. At 13 000 km on the bike, my fuel consumption is approximately 3.9-4.1 L/100 km when riding normally. According to your numbers, 16/4.5 you are getting around 350 km range. You may be using the low fuel warning to measure range.
I am getting rid of my Africa Twin just not fun for me to drive. I'm 59 and 5'9 180 lbs and now am looking at Tenere Honda CB500X and now the 300 Rally. Do most of my riding on highways but have the itch to do longer trips out west from WI to MT and CO. Do you think the Rally can do long trips ok for comfort?
Absolutelly! It was build for that. But you will have to adapt to the power drop. Don't expect it to behave like the AT in terms of power. It can keep up with the trafic on the highway but it will not be as fast as the AT. Please, search on RUclips for the MAD TV, they are from Australia and in the last video they did an adventure with a rally with them. At the end of the video they said:"we need more 300's in our lives" 😀.Also they have a comprehensive review over the 300Rally. In my opinion it will be a great bike !!! Good luck.
Was thinking of getting a 300L but got a 2015 CRF250L with bash plate hand guards ect ect with only 3,000 miles on it for £3,000, that's enough as I won't worry about dropping and scratching it off road.
What is needed is a smaller version of the Tenere 700. 450/500/600 cc, weight lower than 200kg wet. I believe that Triumph is coming out with a 660 tiger adventure. If they make it lighter than 200 kg, they will have a winner.
That is a strong valid point ! But we have to keep an eye on Husqvarna as well, they promise 400, 500 versions as well. It is a great time to be an adventure rider. Thank you for your comment 🤟
@@DragosRDS Yes, I am aware of good, dual sport, offerings coming from Husqvarna in the 500 twin range. Problem is , I see them taking too long from announcements to production
I spent 2 months in Romania this summer with a similar setup. T700 and KLX250S, loved the KLX there but the Tenere only really shined on Transalpina. Did some parts of the Romaniacs track on both bikes and... scary vs fun.. Hate the wind noise and jerkyness on the T700
It is not a perfect bike, heck I don't know if there is a perfect bike. But for difficult stuff performed by a weekend warrior like me :) the tenere 700 is way too heavy. That is why I chose the crf. But I still need one for the touring, with the wife, and for that the tenere is again not good for me. She will be sold, for a more touring oriented bike :)
@@DragosRDS I'm considering swapping the T700 also, had a Tiger 800XCx before and it's much better 2up and smooth with cruise control. But the engine is to smooth to be fun. Going to stay 1 or 2 cylinders, might go Scrambler desert sled. Or just a V-strom who knows ;)
I ordered the 700 first. Canceled it because it was too heavy. I am 51 years old and have your build and I only drive short journeys. So I'm going to pick up the 300 on Tuesday (ordered in March) I already have an axp skid plate and luggage carrier. A usb charger and a foam rolle from Honda. And I think I will only replace the rear suspension. (if necessary) The 300 weighs 143 kg and is very manoeuvrable and stable, and enough power. So I think I made the right choice.....
My local dealer have a few 300l Rally, but the dealer add $2000 on top of msrp not even include the license fee which will cost almost $8,500 out of door price, I was told it was normal due to short supply and higher delivery cost, I understand that, but it is just too much mark up.
I noticed the small fairing on the 300L is this something you made up yourself or a purchase. Do you have a link on the fairing purchase and a vlog of the installation. Just installed the suspension thanks for your assistance. Still watching Cheers and thanks again. This comparison is great and passing onto 2 friend's considering the 700.👍 Trevor.
Hello and thank you for watching ! The fairing is an exact copy of the Adventure Spec Mini fairing for honda CRF250/300 L. I made it at my workplace but I did not make a video about installing as it is so easy. It just clips on the screws of the upper triple clamp. Cheers !
Great vid. How are you finding the Nitron shock, and the K-tech front spring on the CRF300L? I'm going the similar route with my CRF300L. I noticed in your shock fitting vid, that Nitron specced you with a 500lb/inch spring. Would you say this is a little too soft for you? Or good? It seems like from other people, that Nitron specs slightly softer springs than other suspension builders.
Thank you. When you buy the Nitron and the K-tech, they ask you your weight and the weight of the luggage you are going to carry. So it is tailored to a specific weight. The Nitron and the front spring turned this little gem into a great motorcycle. I did decent jumps with it and never bottomed. It is great also on the road, much more balanced. When you break the dive is less violent and gives you predictibility. Overall the investment was awsome ! Thank you so much for watching
In theory the the t7 can do anything the honda does off road just not as fast or nimble, imagine how much smoother the t7 will also go with all your gear and luggage loaded as well, especially on the highway.
Well, there are some important differences on the rally wich I consider a no go for me. Too much plastic, a little heavier than the L (and same engine), more expensive. On this one I added just a little fairing😀
Nice review, speaking of travelling with passenger on T7 there is enough space comparing to previous model XT660Z. Even that I was able to make 600 km per day. For example in my opinion Triumph Tiger 900 has got to much space for passenger. My wife was sliding buck and forward every time I twisted throttle. So T7 isn't that bad.
Thank you Tomasz. I am glad that you find the T700 nice for touring. Maybe we are different in terms of size. You saw I am not small 😜. My wife is not big but not skinny either. For us it was very uncomfortable.
It is strange but, no. It depends a lot of what you want to do with a motorcycle. The Honda checks all my boxes: on the street it goes with ease at 110 km/h constant for many km, on the offroad it climbs all types of hills no matter the incline, it has a ridiculos consumption, it is a Honda with a proven engine, the gearbox has 6 speeds, it has fuel injection and great dadhboard. It is not a ktm, you will not feel like on Redbull Romaniacs with it but all of the above defines me as the type of rider I am and the machine I want. That is for Adventure riding! For touring, I will have the R1250 GS 👍
The Honda really feels like "2021 bike" a modern, fuel injected nice bike. The TT600R is quite pld, kick start but still good. I would not go back to the TT !
@@DragosRDS Thanks for the answer. Probably also a lot of difference in fuel consumption. Would be nice to have something more modern but similar style, similar power and long service intervals, like the TTR.

@@DragosRDS They had to cut costs to make the bike cheap though, as you know with the suspension. But I doubt I will go through all the trouble to replace the exhaust system on mine anyway for a small performance boost, and they'll probably eventually start doing emissions checks on motorcycles anyway.
We need to define weak :). It is only weak compared to other performance bikes like ktm or yamaha BUT the yamaha or ktm does not have the oil range of the honda, or the travel capacity. It is a compromise and as long as you accept what it is and do not expect it to be a cross star it is perfect. Tenere is heavy yes, for very hard enduro, for adv it is perfect, as long as you ride it alone, with 2Up it is not ok for touring. Again there are only compromises, the perfect unicorn bike does not exist

You will not go wrong with either !!! They are both excelent bikes, go for it !
Always better to have 2 motorcycles than 1. For off-road, always go for a lighter bike!
@@Niki_Parvanov Agree !
K tech shock, Race tech front, crash cage, skid plate, rack, wraparounds, 550 tune and airbox mods, full exhaust, LED headlight, tires etc. etc.
Absolutely ! When I had mine I swaped the shock for a Nitron one. Night and day difference
Good luck
Hello Dragos, i know you from videos Swedish Nomads, you are legend. Thanks for video, hope to ride with you one day. All the best and see you
Thank you for the nice words !
Vitara to landcruiser comparison sorry mate didnt get past halfway...
All the best to you
Thank-you for the good video. You said you put a Nitron spring into the Honda CRF front fork but did you actually mean a K-Tech spring instead?
K tech for sure, my mistake !
I think if you can only have one bike, the T7 is a must. However, if you’re able to own two bikes I feel like the CRF300 is an excellent bike to keep as you use the other slot to rotate through different bikes that interest you.
Very true ! Thank you for watching !
That is correct ! Never did a bone dry range test so for sure the range was bigger. Thank you
I am getting rid of my Africa Twin just not fun for me to drive.
For sure, the 250 proved to be an awsome machine !
Did you make the big cable that was in front of the screen shorter or just tuck it away?
I just tucked it away !
these are some useful info. thank you
Thank you for watching
For me.......it's the mighty GS :)
Absolutely !!!! You will love it and be impressed by it's performance. I had a lot of bikes, this one stole my heart
My local dealer have a few 300l Rally, but the dealer add $2000 on top of msrp not even include the license fee which will cost almost $8,500 out of door price, I was told it was normal due to short supply and higher delivery cost, I understand that, but it is just too much mark up.
@@weiz4944 wow, that is really too much
Great comparison,i too think about those two bikes !!!
Thank you, you will not go wrong with either !
Nice walk thru Dragos!
Thank you !!!
The CRF300 Rally comes with a plastic skid plate as well, I thought that wasn't good enough and you really need an aluminium one.
For the "L" I chose the plastic AXP Racing skid plate. Super happy with it !
Cheers !
What about crf300l for solo trips paired with AT for 2up trips?
I thoght about it long and hard but I decided to with the BMW. Thank you
@@DragosRDS btw we met in Bulgaria / Rishki prohod / this summer. I am the guy with the white xt660z :) Cheers
@@arminiusR1 Cheers !!!
@@arminiusR1 So small this world 😀 I hope you enjoy your bike !
Salut unde ai reusit sa copiezi rack ul? Stii pe cineva?mersi
Salut. Rackul este facut la mine la serviciu. Doar daca ai cunostinte in firme de uzinaj, prelucrari metalice
In theory the the t7 can do anything the honda does off road just not as fast or nimble, imagine how much smoother the t7 will also go with all your gear and luggage loaded as well, especially on the highway.
I agree. How much highway will one need ? This is the question for me
Hi!……the Honda will be good for long distances in speedways?
Hi, it is good but not that comfortable and the wind protection is bad. The Rally is better for that
@@DragosRDS Got it…..thanks!!
Sold my CRF300L to get the T7. I don’t regret it at all.
Of course you don't, it is an awsome bike !
Great video. Both nice bikes. I have the 300L. ✌
Thank you ! Congrats on the little red, it is an awsome bike
The stand at the crf is at the right side?
The stand? Are you talking about the side stand ?
Great video.
But why you didn't buy from the beginning CRF300 rally?
@@DragosRDS Yes I agree, size matters. Don't you feel that this 24 HP in Honda is to weak for dual sport bike?
How do you find the little Honda compared to the TTR600?
The Honda really feels like "2021 bike" a modern, fuel injected nice bike. The TT600R is quite pld, kick start but still good. I would not go back to the TT !
@@DragosRDS Thanks for the answer. Probably also a lot of difference in fuel consumption. Would be nice to have something more modern but similar style, similar power and long service intervals, like the TTR.
Ok. In offroad e geniala daca stii ce faci. Multa bafta in continuare
Nice video thanks for info fellow rider RUclipsr
Always !
Interesting comparison. Both bikes I would consider but I thought the CRF had a 7.8 litre tank.
That is correct, the tank is 7.8 L !
Yes, if you are the only rider yes both of them are perfect. But for two up, tenere was NOK for me
The 300L rally is 12 Litre tank.
Or just get a bigger aftermarket tank.
@@thinkingoutofthebox.9421 for sure, when they will design and produce it I will
I'm 180 cm tall. What do you think about my feets touching the ground?. It will be ok ?
Both for Tenere and for the CrF, you will touch the ground !
The important dimmension is not the height but the inseam. I have 32 inch inseam (82 cm)
Hi Romania from California 😊

barkbusters bust my cable's. i have put my brake and clutch more down and it just chewes trough the clutch cable with its sharp edge. went for acerbis x hand protection. love them. no issue's.
I had also Acerbis X factor and they are wonderfull. Didn't know that about the busters.
@@DragosRDS neither did I. Till I had to replace the clutch cable. I have not tested if the bark busters fit the aceris brackets. But I think it should be poseble
Just to correct what you said in the video , height is not the deciding factor for seat height. I have a friend who is over 190cm and his legs are shorter than mine at 175 cm so Inseem length is what matters not height.

Could be an option, yes 😀
By the way I heard that the CRF will perform a lot better with a new exhaust without all that emission crap in it.
I really like to keep my bikes stock. I thjnk that those engineers from design know their jobs :)
@@DragosRDS They had to cut costs to make the bike cheap though, as you know with the suspension. But I doubt I will go through all the trouble to replace the exhaust system on mine anyway for a small performance boost, and they'll probably eventually start doing emissions checks on motorcycles anyway.
That is correct !
Honda 300 is to weak. Tenere is to heavy. Ideal bike is between them.
May be AJP PR 7 .......or similar.
300 rally
Heavier, a lot of plastic on it (prone to break easy) :) but nevertheless a great bike
@@DragosRDS as a comparison to the Yamaha I think its better than the non rally :) keep up the good content
