I love worbla! Best tip about it is that if you use wood glue as a primer on the original tortilla chip texture worbla, it smooths out the texture so, so much! Great to use before painting.
I loved this and think it'd be so cute if you made different kinds of sky dancers (I've become obsessed). I'm newer to dolls, but a tip for managing the hair easier is to dip or pour hot water onto the hair to make it sit nicer when it dries, or to keep the hair less bouncy!
The doll looks amazing!! I've seen other doll makers make shoes out of worbla. I think it could probably work well for the outer sole of the shoe and then to glue the fabric inside.
When removing the hair, I find it much easier to take a flathead screwdriver and scrape it around the inside of the head to loosen all of the hair plugs. From there you can dump a lot of them out but then use the pliers or tweezers to pull the rest out of the head. It's much easier than trying to pull them out one by one.
for the bun, i recommend either leaving the center unplugged and using the framing hair to pull into a bun so its better at doll scale and not too much, OR you could put a styrofoam ball painted the hair color and then cover it with the hair wefts, then put a pin in it to stick into the head. i also recommend tacky glue because its often used in cosplay wigs for those sharp point shapes
I absolutely loved your original illustration of her (from last week) and I am amazed you managed to make a whole doll that looks just as adorable! Sometimes when you paint I go "oh no, what did she do? She ruined it!" and then a few strokes later it all comes together into something dazzling. I don't know how you do it, but I'm so proud of you! Also, I'm laughing to myself, imagining you ripping the shoes off the doll, so done with them, ready to burn them in the sink with much frustration and gusto, and it ending up in a little anticlimactic poofy flame since they are so small. 😂
I know you’re worried about her being too pink, but I think it really worked with the color scheme that you had because it was very pink peach but it’s still works I think 👍🏻
Fashion runway for Spring 2024, the new trend is to paint your legs for that extra pop of colour! I seriously could see a fashion company stealing this idea! 😂
Absolutely love this...I loved your thought process on making this skydancer doll...and loved watching you develop her into your drawing.. would love to see more...you are becoming one of my favorite and I look forward to watching your videos
Such a pretty doll! I have seen quite a few doll shoe tutorials on youtube. The method i have used before is basically using the doll foot as a last and stretching cut out fabric over it, fastening it to an inner sole shaped piece of cardboard on the bottom of the foot with glue (pva in my case) and hiding the mess on the bottom with the outer sole of the shoe. ballerina style shoes are a bit more fiddly though
For helpful videos on doll shoe making, you should check out Poppen Atelier. She makes a lot of shoes for her dolls out of worbla thermoplastic. Also, it's helpful to have a hairdryer to heat the head up as you remove the plugs. Try taking a screwdriver or something and scrap across the scalp to losen the plugs. Then, take some tweezers and pull the lose hair out
Poppen makes the best worbla shoes!! Her last three Sanderson sisters video, those had amazing shoes. Her own mini me had great tennis shoes. She's gotten so good with it!
Use a flat head screwdriver to help scrape the hair plugs out. Also, if you don't want to glue hair back into her head, you can actually root hair in her head with a large sewing needle instead of the punch method.
I have never been good at doll shoes myself but for cosplay I have used Instamorph beads! They are little pellets and when you heat them you can mold them into any shape and sand and paint em !
She turned out so good! I love the concept of making different versions of sky dancers. Also DM and we can talk shoes, I 3D model and print them for the MH dolls. We could collab
adorable! I loved the process of seeing you create your skydancer, and I would love just as much to see your whole cast of skydancers come to life in drawing! ♡♡♡
youtube.com/@PoppenAtelier?si=0hBk-M2lB2Ebnxds uses Worbla for shoes. But she turned out pretty. I was worried about you breaking a needle when rerooting. I know I normally break about two. lol

She’s cute! A tip is to remove the paint from the head and paint it a similar color to the hair, so you won’t see the black.

You did such a lovely job on her! I definitely want to see more girls like this ! I would love to see the Gothic one ! And maybe a cowgirl one 👀

I’m here for you doing all the it sky dancers
Please at least do some sketches for the other sky dancers. The clown one sounded perfect 🤩
She's super cute!! Loved her outfit, and painting the legs was a great idea!
She’s adorable!
She came out so pretty! Love your Sky dancer doll.
for the shoes I would like to suggest worbla (thermoplastic) poppen atelier has made a lot of shoes with that.
She looks so good! I love how she turned out!!! 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷
I’ve seen many a doll artist make shoes (and clothes) patterns using tape & cling wrap
Gorgeous Sky dancer! See you next time.

I love her as for the shoes I see a lot of other doll artists use paper mache or warble but do what you need to do
she's so cute and beautiful😍💕
Skydancer stickers would be fun.
She’s so pretty and the colors are so lovely, you did a great job 💖💖

I kept dunking the head in boiling water to take the plugs out but it was still a nightmare 😭😭😭

You should watch Poppen Atlier, she makes shoes and they are really good. As well you can see other ways to make wings.
Poppen Atelier has also mastered the use of pan pastels. Her face and body blushing is amazing!

I mean this completely with love. But this is the most ADHD thing I’ve seen in a while 😂. I felt for you at decision and planning moments

Try using thin cloth and cardboard to make the shoes? Look for bjd shoe tutorials?
