Just wanted to tell you that your videos on board texture and live reads has helped my game quite a bit. I feel a lot more confident when I sit down at the tables. I've been able to minimise the losses and maximise the better spots. Thanks Doug.
Coming from someone who really enjoys the typical format of your vlogs, I actually found myself liking this style as well. Loved the deep dive into the hands. Maybe you should sprinkle a few of these in here and there in the future. Keep it up Doug!
No apology needed for the short. I personally prefer the 15 to 16 minute vlogs. I also have picked up quite a bit of insight in the game from you. Thanks
I really respect this kind of analysis. I auto subscribed and will be following you. Absolutely love hand analysis in tight spots by somebody who's a thinking man!
A big thanks to you, Doug. Your vlog has helped my game considerably. My mantra at the table is "What would Doug do?" I feel like I have the edge over my opponents at the $2/3 level. I will say, though, it seems players down here in San Diego are stickier than the people at Capitol. Maybe it's because your $1/3 game plays more like a $2/5? Hopefully next time you make it down here, I'll feel up to the $2/5 you play down here.
JJ: The preflop call by MP was good if he can be fairly sure there won't be a 3bet behind him. If not, it needs to be folded unless in LP or BB. 54dd: I would have let this one go from earlier than LJ. A good player is going to have a narrower range than you and he's IP. AP I'm x-folding flop or betting larger OOP. Again, AP, I probably bet that turn when the 2 brings a gutshot. TT: I think you bluffed the best hand. AJdd: Villain made a polarization error on the river. Good call. 99: Be careful range betting MW, especially OOP. (Your visual showed you were MP and villain was HJ.) You explained that the players call a lot early and then fold too much late, and if that's the case, go for it.
Study the basics, good fundamentals goes a long way. “The Course” by Ed Miller is a good book, very helpful for newer players playing low stakes games.
Sometimes poker is boring. Love the commentary especially about playing against people with different skill levels. You’ll have to point out the good player to me next time since I don’t play at Capitol often enough to figure that out very easily.
How difficult is it for you when you know your opponents so well a capital casino to play at different casinos. Is your win rate as good as your home base.
Still considering the AJ diamond, with a J, 4 ,3 flop and the 7 turn. 5,6 seems just as probable as your opponent has a J with a weaker kicker. 16 combos of 5,6. 4 are suited, most likely if 5,6. A J with a K, 2 suited combos. J with a Q, or a 10 suited combos makes calling a pot sized wager break even at best. Hope your read gives you an edge in close spots
On the 1010 hand… When you lead turn? Are you bluffing, or betting for value/protection? I think any hands that beat us probably arent folding…? They probably dont have a Jack, or over pair, since the flop checked through, but they very much could have a King and I dont see a King folding here… On your checklist, you have “dont bluff into strong ranges”, I think the 3 bettor could easily have AK here, after 3 betting pre and checking a Jack high flop. His range looks pretty strong to me…? Then with 99 on A88… Is this value or a bluff? An Ace isnt folding, nor is an 8 obviously… 99 does need protection against overcards, so betting is fine, but would you consider your bet a bluff? Or a value bet? Fwiw, I watch your vlogs every week and think you are a very good player, I’m just curious as to your thinking, so I can improve my own game.
My bet was to deny equity to weak draws and over cards. I am the only one that can rep a flush, my only concern is the deep stack hitting a K. I would rather take the lead than try to pick off a possible bluff.
The way too big raise with AA just illustrates why this huge raise size is terrible. people only do it with good hands, so its easy to put opponents on ranges. If he had raise a normal amount $10 to $15, then you would have 3b with JJ, and he could have 4b and would have won the pot preflop or postflop. Instead, he played a boated pot oop, on a terrible board for his obviously telegraphed range.
I always try to keep my raises the same size for the reasons you mentioned. I do use a larger standard size when stacks are deep. I think his biggest error was overplaying his hand after the flop and again on the river.
I don't like the KQ bet on A76, multiway. Your analysis boils down, this opponent is too wide and will fold under pressure BUT, people love to limp call suited Ax, and also pocket pairs like 66/77. KQ just has bad equity multiway against those ranges, and you can just check in position to realize and try to hit a K or a Q. If you are bluffing with KQ here, you are just bluffing with like every non-paired hand, which is just way too many, and K high may still be good there. I would much prefer to bluff hands like 89/9T/8Ts that are drawing to the nuts.
I would agree that it’s better to bluff with some outs that can beat an A if called. First player was obviously giving up, second player floated often. His call seemed very weak, so when the board paired I followed through. I wouldn’t take this line with a normal opponent.

Great! That’s the goal everyone should be chasing, steady improvement and table awareness.
Don't apologize! Your extra analysis certainly adds value to your vlog. Thank you.
I appreciate that!
Your analysis is spot on, as always. Love the vlog and the deeper analysis on a select key hands. 👍
Happy you enjoyed it!
Enjoyed the extra analysis! Your vlogs continue to be excellent!
Much appreciated!
I missed this one somehow. Nice win, Doug!!!
Intelligent and concise. Too many channels pad with travelog and food. Thanks for your work from Michigan USA!
Wow, thank you! Glad you liked it.
Hey Doug - Glad to see you're still at the tables and providing content! Still got my Zeus chip... Good luck next session!
Awesome, a lucky Zeus chip makes the difference.

Great video with tips. Lot of education.
Happy you got extra value from watching 😀
12:08 the key to the game. Agreed.

Awesome, thank you! Glad you’ve found some extra value from the vlog.
It is nice to hear that even Vlogrs go card dead for hours on end. Lol Love your Vlogs Doug.
Nice win.

My next visit to San Diego will be for a graduation, so no poker. I imagine I will be there again late summer.

Doug I can see you are very capable of making good decisions on the table.what would be the best advice to improve on poker game?
Study the basics, good fundamentals goes a long way. “The Course” by Ed Miller is a good book, very helpful for newer players playing low stakes games.
I don’t want to wish runs of card dead but I liked the deeper dive format 😎
Thanks Ken, I might add some depth to the regular vlogs.

Good players are easy to spot, they have all the chips! Lol
Way to make a vlog (and a profit) out of nearly bubkis. This is why patience is the kind of skills. Sometimes short is sweet
I appreciate that! I would rather run hotter and win big pots for the content. 😀
Patience is the *king* of skills. You deserve to be properly complimented
How often do you get feedback from your opponents after your blogs come out?
There are some that talk about the hand after the vlog, some would even show their hand when not required in game.
How difficult is it for you when you know your opponents so well a capital casino to play at different casinos. Is your win rate as good as your home base.
I probably do better at Capitol for two reasons. I know some of the players and the action is amazing.
$CLSK rebounded today. I picked up a few, hoping that it will rip up to$24.
I’m long for the next year or so

I have learned to trust my reads, but yes he could have easily been value betting his strong hands. My read was solid, so I called down.
Was your opponent bluffing with a Jack? Might not be as strong as you thought. ;)
He turned his hand into a bluff
@@dougmccuskerpoker did he think you would fold QQ+
@@nddst77 if he thought his J was good, he would check river against 2 opponents. His bet reps a very strong hand or a bluff. My read was bluff.
