- Lesson Link: banjobenclark.... - This is a Doc-style guitar solo for Shady Grove in D minor. However, we'll first strip it down to the basic melody, then add some hammer-ons before diving into Doc's version. Three different speeds of guitar rhythm tracks are also included with the tabs!
REMEMBER, Gold Pick members have full access to ALL tabs/mp3's as well as streaming videos!
Ben uv helped me learn so many songs I'd say atlest 8 years now we was friends on Facebook and had a few convos and here we r again a song I wana no and ur there for me lol nice 1 bud
I'm here for you, buddy.
Very clean picking. great job
Aaah thanks!
Wanted to play this song so long, now after some while of playing, I finally got it 🤩
Congrats man !! I've just started learning this myself. Great song .
Great start in this video. I paid for the full lesson though and doesn't really add much that you don't see here. Was hoping for something more like the Doc Watson version where he adds chords in also.
You are a natural born analyst! Great break down.
loooooooove this thanks matey! beautiful style,
Thanks!
Sounds good! What kind of strings do you use?
Sounds Awesome!
A straight up and down crosspick over the Am7 sounds real pretty on this one...
Jerry Garcia and David Grisham also good version
thank you!
I think the song is a 2/4 song... don't know if I'm really right but if i'm, just to say.
Thank you Ben for another great lesson!
No, it's 4/4
Hay can you do a lesson on Doc watsons solo on road to spencer. That would be great. Know one has done that song yet. Please 😢
wow that flat pick sure looks very flexible and thin...TS? What is thickness?
Nice !
Really really appreciate this thank you. Love your Martin.
Please do a guitar lesson on Old Time Religion!!
What is the chord you play in the intro of the video, starting on the D sting , 3rd fret? Please.
What's the time code of the chord?
@@BanjoBen 0:33/9:38
@@janetfitzgerald9752 Hmm, I don't hear a chord at 0:33, but I'm playing D minor quite a bit otherwise. Perhaps that's it?
@@BanjoBen you go up the neck. Maybe a transition cord?
@@janetfitzgerald9752 The chord that gets played at :33 is a C chord.
Question, I'm trying to figure out how to play it in G major like Bill Monroe did, would using the A Minor melody work for singing it in G Major and using G Major chords? or how would that work?
Yonder the Mountain top if you don’t play the minor chord don’t sound right
This guy could do a George Formby revival if he could learn the proper uke banjo strum patterns.
Is that a D-18? Looks like a mahogany.
Yep! D-18 Golden Era Martin
@@BanjoBen I have a '76 D-19. It's basically a D-18 with a stained top. Love it.
Can you do one for banjo too? :)
