Heller Charles de Gaulle 1/400 French Aircraft Carrier Part I: Assembly, Painting

Hi, thanks for a visit to the channel! In this video, i assemble and paint the Heller 1/400 Charles de Gaulle ship model kit. It seems to be aimed for beginners as it has few parts and not very up-to-date detail, but it is also an old kit - and Heller makes some interesting ship models exclusive from any other brands.
I also tried 3D-Printing some additional aircraft for the ship, but actually, they turned out worse than the ones supplied by the kit. This might be something for future aircraft carriers where few planes are supplied with.

I've done the same model but the decals were really old and they had broke sometimes easily. But it still a good model.

Didnt know this exists, sounds very interesting! i have got this heller kit in 1/1600 where you can only recognise the ships form but nothing more

@@funinscale2892 HMS Colossus a light fleet carrier was loaned to the French and renamed Arromanches just after WWII. The French eventually purchased it from Britain.

In addition to my comment below, I am wondering whether you would be interested in buying model kits of MN Bearn? It is 1/400, by L'Arsenal of France. Bearn was the first French carrier, circa 1924 to 1964, served on the Allied side throughout WW2. It is "multi media", plastic, resin and metal etched parts. I have two I am no longer capable of building due to a stroke. I have placed all the pre-1939 aiircraft inside one box, and the second model is equipped with more modern fighters, French ones, that represent it in service post 1940.

Do you use snips or just the knife. I never had problems with breaking parts using snips.
