I would be more open to starting Santi if he was playing the 3, but as they mention Smart will be starting. I also think it’s better to have Smart starting than coming off the bench. When he’s with Ja, Bane, Jaren, he knows his role is off ball. You get him out with the backups and he’s gonna think he should have the ball
@@matthewwoody2570 If Smart doesn’t start, then it has to be Vince at the 3. If Smart and Vince don’t start then it has to be GiGi or Jake LeRavia. They’ve earned it. They’ve all shown why they should get that start much more than Santi has. Vince should actually be the starting 3. there’s a solid 4 names at small forward that should be above Santi on the depth chart.
To Joe's point the best option is Huff. He is a better rebounder, interior defender and pick setter than Santi. As a strech 5 he allows Jaren to play 4 and opens up the middle for Jaren's one on one forays (which no team in the league has been able to stop).making the Grizzlies nearly unstopable on offense I had hoped we would acquire a strech 5 to go with a 5-out offense. Delete Smart from the lineup and add whoever at the 3. There is no reason to start 3 guys under 6'5" if we don't have to.
Jaren at power forward is the best version of JJJ. Not Center. He’s not a good rebounder, he’s a great help defender and we only saw him at center so much because he was the only uninjured starter for at least half of the season and showed he can score a bunch on the inside… but he scored a bunch inside from driving from the perimeter. He’s a decent shooter, he needs to be spreading the floor and he’s a little too small to not be a good rebounder and justify him being down there and banging bodies with jokic, embiid, Davis, holmgren and Wembenyama. He’s most comfortable at the 4 position, just let him play his most comfortable position.
Edey should start, cmon now?!? I would be more open to not starting smart and putting Santi at the 3, but I think smart deserves to start. Santi is a great off the bench 4 or 5.
Vince should be the starter. He's not someone who is ball dominant and can defend the best player from the 1-3 spots. Still thinking Jaren should be this team's starting center is MADNESS.
No way. Marcus smart is one of the best and most versatile on ball defenders of all time. He had his most efficient season playing alongside Kyrie in the Boston backcourt.
@@mikkoss8704 I mean that’s fair. They’ll both be fighting with GG for a starting spot. I can see Smart closing games for us cuz he makes plays in big moments like when he drew those 2 fouls on Harden in Boston. Either way our roster is deep and flexible especially with Luke coming back.
Having to make your shots, or you get benched is stressful. If he can get in a grove(and stop foul baiting), I think it will push him into 🇪🇸 Santi. He's obviously better than he's playing. Definitely not a starter
@@nedarriusjohnson For sure. I was looking at a recent interview where he said he plays better for Spain because there's less pressure to stay on the floor
Jaren will be traded if Grizzles don't make to WCF or NBA finals in the next 2 years. He is the only piece in the team who teases with his talent. In all past playoffs, he has been a non factor.. last season, during the injuries to other players, he developed some new offensive skills... this team's ceiling is dictated by Jaren, and if in next 2 yrs, this team doesn't get it done.. you break the trio.. and don't get into paying so much money to a player who is not going to be the needle mover
So we trade the only player who is consistently out there for us? I thought he played great in the playoffs and I thought he was great last year. If anyone has teased us with talent, it’s the guy with a max deal that cant seem to quit making videos of himself holding guns. And then there is the massive jump in defense when he is playing versus when he’s not. I really don’t see what you see.
Jaren has struggle but it mostly on the coach. The big reason why is that the offense is catered to much towards Morant. Jaren needs to be more of the focal point and Ja needs to be more of a passer
Remember Santi had a good FIBA last offseason which did not translate with us last season. Santi shot worst from 3 and digressed in my opinion. With that this is a new season. Maybe he turns the corner. My honest answer there may be matchups he deserves to start and others he don’t. I delay a final opinion until after training camp and the pre season.
😅 Grizzlies should thank the NBA for cheating Victor out of his DPOY award, because now they fina make it up to him by giving it to him for the next 7yrs.
what are you talking about?? Jaren won it 2 years ago before victor was even in the league. Rudy Gobert was DPOY this last season during Victor’s rookie year. I just don't feel like Jaren is a super max type player.
Pretty wild that a player not good enough to represent at the Olympics could become the highest paid player ever.
You could say the same for Jaylen brown right now
