Only works on 3/Y. Doesn’t work on my S and X as the charge port doesn’t have clearance for the adapter lock. It came free with my replacement adapter from Amazon since I forgot my original one at a ChargePoint charger so no loss. I think there is a different adapter lock for newer model S/X but not for models prior to 2022. Nonetheless thanks for the info!
For what it’s worth, I have a J1772 adaptor from my first Tesla (2016) and these locks won’t fit it. I tried the same lock on a new J1772 adaptor and it worked. The older versions are a bit longer.
I believe the problem I had was since I was near the car with my phone and bluetooth on it thought I was cancelling the charge. I am pretty sure that if I was not around and someone tampered with the cable it would continue to charge OR I would get a notification on my phone and be able to restart the charge.
It does stop charging. So it is not the best solution because even though someone can’t fully unplug. They can make it stop charging if they try to take it out.
Ok so I got one and it does not work. U can’t pull it out but just like the video they can disengage slightly so the BLUE charging light triggers-charge stopped. This does not do anything other than keeping cable attached to yr car
Problem is they can still stop you from charging by pressing the button. I just tried it on my car and all you need to do is press the button and it stops .
If you press the button, it will stop, but they can’t pull it out and so if the car doesn’t restart charging on its own, then you can restart it from your app once you’re notified charging has stopped.
Why do you have to lie? You can see the logo turn blue when you pull it, and then you don't pull it again. Once it's blue, you can just remove it because it's unlocked. Why do you have to lie to people?

Interesting. I wonder if they will start making a different one.
Does it continue to charge the car after being tampered with? I noticed the charging indicator turned to blue after your demo.

Good information! Thanks for the video
Thanks Jeff!
How do you remove the adapter then once you're done charging? just curious since I don't own a Tesla.
When you stop charging normally it unlocks the charge port and allows you to take either a Tesla charging cord or an adapter out.
A potential thief no doubt
@@M3NTALMAGIC That makes no sense.
It seemed to stop charging when you tried to unplug it. I saw the blue light.
It did. I think it was since the phone was still connected by Bluetooth.

How do you remove the plug then?
@@TheDanielTruong You just unlock it from the car like you would at a supercharger.
The adopter that Tesla supplies with my 22 MY does not allow anyone to remove the plug from my car.
How to unplug it ?
Unlock charge port
Yep, just unlock the charge port.

That’s the point, they can’t remove the cable and the car should start charging again after it resets.
Only happend to me once. They n eed to make a metal version

wait how would they charge for free?
if you started paying for it they can finish it
Free charging stations all over the planet
@@M3NTALMAGIC That's not what he's referring to.
Wind noise reduction was off
Yeah, sorry about that.
Ya thank u there are a lot of jerks out there
No problem!
the lock should be included free from Tesla...
I wish. Now you don’t even get the charger with the car!!
The adopter that I got from Tesla doesn't allow anyone to disengage the plug from the car.

J1772 adapters are even more lame than unplugging someone.
Definitely not my first (or second) choice but if that is the way I have to charge it is good to know that I won’t be unplugged!
Wrong. That makes no sense.
