Thank you for sharing this video. It just goes to show how "effective" these so called hawk deterrents really are...or as demonstrated here not a deterrent at all !
These fake owls work good. I have one on my pool fence to stop the birds from swimming in my pool. I just thought that an fake owl would make them not go in and it works.
I love how owls and hawks have just a huge rivalry they fight over nothing but land and somtukes eat eggs, but most of the time, hawks and owl just duke it out
the owl is LITERALLY gives middle finger for the hawk XDDD I ma staying and u WON'T attack me..UNDERSTOOD?! badass owl XD...wait a statue? XD LOOOL...U got me..I looked at the legs and saw
@SirianKings I don't think so. I think this one started coming close because it noticed the owl sitting there day after days. Normally, cooper hawks will swoop at the GHO and not perch in front of it.
Curious. Have you ever seen a hawk go after an owl for any reason? I've seen ravens chase red tail hawks because of territory. But an owl is a larger predatory bird with larger talons, it's curious that such a small hawk would mess with one, alive or fake. So the fact that this one would even approach an owl and just stand there in front of one trying to figure out why it doesn't move is just funny. Makes me wonder what the cooper hawk is actually thinking.
A.C. It has a nest nearby. I was told that if you want to bait hawks for photos, to put up a fake owl. They hate owls and will attack anything that looks like one.
Not so sure Matt the Birder is correct, that tail looks too squared off to be a Coopers, You might have been right to begin with. The legs are also skinny and long, like a Sharp -Shinned and the feathers extend down the legs farther on a Coop. Look how much leg is exposed which makes me think Sharpie. A Coop has shorter and thicker legs. I'm thinking it's a large female Sharpie.
LMAO!!! Too funny.. So that's what makes that noise... Growing up I used to think our neighbors car wouldn't start. Would always hear it but never would see these hawks.
Flat tail feathers will indicate a sharp shinned hawk if they are rounded its a coop. also the sharpies are very small if you haven't determined by now
I would have put a loud piercing sound and a stream of water via remote coming from the bottom of the owl's body strait at the noisy bird just to make it more interesting for us you tubers😜
Interesting. Shops in Australia sell these model owls, supposedly to scare away other birds (but really only to make money). I tell people it is a nonsense, as they use a model Great Horned Owl, even though nothing that looks like that, exists in Australia, also that birds would not respond to a clay or plastic model. (Why wouldn't they use a model of a Powerful Owl or Barking Owl?) I believe that is true as they do not elicit a response from Australian birds. But going by this fellow, it clearly has elicited a response. So I am partly wrong. Whether an agitated small hawk is something you want to encourage, rather than a hawk that just goes about its day without making a racket and probably pooing on your veranda, is another matter.
that Hawk is building up courage that will soon cause its demise...A GHO that size will destroy it...an quick too....better smartin' up......* cool vid an txs for sharing..
For the love of nature an consciousness I hope you know I'm aware of this fact? How old are u? But if I was not aware! ur comment! Wow! Help us all THE HUMANITY
Numed 1. If you are gunna put (attack)in something at lease mean attack if 2. If I ways a bird I would call that passing me off. Really I think the Great Horned Owl is the grumps of the bird kingdom just look at him Jesus's I thought my sister looked mad when I pissed her off lol
Hawk to owl: "Your passive-aggressive nature is so annoying."
Owl remains unmoved, in silence.
hawk says "look honey im so tuff and stuff, ill protect our young. i beat this owl up on the daily"
It probably has a nest nearby it usually makes those noises when there is a predator nearby.
....Sh-.... Should we tell him???
The hawk is thinking to himself, is he for real he doesn't give two hoots.
Sean Nolan 😂😂😂😂
It sounds like he’s laughing 😂😂😂

Thanks for video. I've been trying to determine if the hawk hunting around my bird feeder is a Cooper's or sharp-shinned. I'm leaning toward Cooper's.
Do you have a video? If you do I can take a look and give opinion
@@RobinASmith138 it was 9 years ago. Certain it was a Sharp-shin.
Well, now we know what "IT"S AN OWL!!" sounds like in kestrel language!
Where's the attack? I WAS PROMISED TO FIND ONE
THE OWL IS NOT WHAT IT SEEMS
RYYSZLA underrated comment XD
You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? Then who the hell else are you talkin' to?
the owl is LITERALLY gives middle finger for the hawk XDDD I ma staying and u WON'T attack me..UNDERSTOOD?! badass owl XD...wait a statue? XD LOOOL...U got me..I looked at the legs and saw
after seeing its fake he must think "owly shit!"
@SirianKings I don't think so. I think this one started coming close because it noticed the owl sitting there day after days. Normally, cooper hawks will swoop at the GHO and not perch in front of it.
When one don't want it, two do not fight.
no bird in the world teaches their young to fly,it is pure instinct, and perfected with maturity
I bet they bought the owl to scare off the hawks... Now it's freaking out on their porch all day instead of up in the trees... Good investment. Lol.
People say hawks have great eyesight, but I've seen them fly into chain link fences.
mustang6172 I saw one go into a burger king and order a big mac

Owl has patience
Doesn't This cooper hawk realise that the owl is not real?
Andrew - I guess that hawk isn't very smart. Lol

Birdbrain56 - who? The owl or the hawk? Hi Hope !
Flat tail feathers will indicate a sharp shinned hawk if they are rounded its a coop. also the sharpies are very small if you haven't determined by now

You can tell by the Cooper's calls.
HAHAHA! The great horned owl seems to be looks like he is damn pissing off by the annoying sound from the Cooper hawk itself though XD

That Juvenile Coop is mad at that GHO statue
Towards the end it looked like he was figuring it out but nope.

he was trying to commit suicide but the owl turned out to be fake
That Hawk is not Sheldon Cooper.
I would have put a loud piercing sound and a stream of water via remote coming from the bottom of the owl's body strait at the noisy bird just to make it more interesting for us you tubers😜
