Using the lug to hold the rotor on is an awesome trick. I've fought with rotors for years and can't believe I never thought about that
+Philip Ramsden Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
Nice video. Thank you. My one add is to re-grease the caliper glide pins while the bracket is off the truck.
Absolutely professional video. Thank you for your instruction. I’ll be buying my parts from your store going forward.
+Jeffrey Ahrndt Thank you very much! We appreciate your feedback and your business.
Thank you! You do a great job showing everything and explaining it in a way that is easily understood
122 ft. Lbs. Wheel bearing bolts
258 ft. Lbs. Axle nut
111 ft. Lbs. Caliper bracket bolts
53 ft. Lbs. Caliper bolts
i might be giving this a try tomorrow thanks
I run a channel fixing Fords and lemme tell you, removing this wheel bearing was worse than removing the transmission out of an 02 explorer.
your videos are the reason i buy parts from you....

I also use a little anti-seize between the hub and rotor. I'm in NJ and the heat buildup mixed with snow and salt in the winter makes some rotors a nightmare to get off. So whoever ends up taking rotors off that I installed will thank me. Lol
a good video. I have to replace my rear bearing on the drivers side. Only 66,000 miles. Fixed or Repaired Daily equals FORD
+fiddlerpin Thank you!
Can we TALK about the face-melting guitar solo!

That's what SHE said.
Aren't those torgue specs a little high
Very nicely done!
Thank you for not using air tools
Tried repairing my 2014 Explorer, driver side front, hub/bearing. Took everything apart, the hub is seized to the knuckle so bad I had to remove the knuckle. The guys at the machine shop couldn't get it out with their 20 ton press.. Pb blaster, air hammer, sledge hammer, slide hammer, nothing worked, am waiting for a new knuckle to finish the repair. believe me, tried everything, no success, so frustrated!!!!! That is what I get for trying to do it myself.
The knuckle looks like it's aluminum and the hub is steel. If so, may as well be welded.
Did they try using a torch to heat it up? mine was seized and using a torch and a 20lb sledge hammer did the trick. did I mention my explorer was from the east coast?
Same issue with me recently except I couldn't get the knuckle off because the ball joint nuts on the control arm and tie rod are seized and the top of the bolts are rounded out, had to order new ones and still haven't replaced the hub. When I do get the knuckle off, i too hope that a hydraulic press will save me because I didn't order a new knuckle in hopes of it so. My explorer came from upstate NY so that should have been a red flag
Dissimilar metals will corrode together. Use a plumbers torch to heat the steel bearing side of the joint until it starts smoking, then give it some love with a BFH. The heat will cause the steel to expand and mechanically break the bond. This works on differential drain plugs as well.
@@drcoffee5588 Exactly..
Um so my 03 Ford doesn't have a Axle therefore no Axle nut, is there some models that don't need it? I'm replacing the hub and I'm in shock now that I don't see one...
Can you guys do 2015 Ford Explorer Starter replacement video?
Hi! Are the bolt hole position the same on all four wheels or are they different on the front/rear, left/right? Planning to order a wheel bearing but its not saying which side of the wheel its for.
That bearing is 2wD rear wheel Ford Explorer 2011 ?
Why didn’t you show us how you got the other two 18mm on the right side of the Knuckle the ones that hold the bearing was it hard to get to them?
So what makes the wheel bearings go bad? I just had to replace both right and left front on my 2015 explorer.
Does the police interceptor Explorer use the same torque as mentioned in this video?
Can the 3 studs be put without taking the whole hub off?
Don’t need to remove the speed sensor on these explorers. Bearing can’t come in contact with it.
Do you have a video for a 2016 Explorer left front axle?
If you would have popped the center cap of wheel off and put wheel back on, lower truck to ground, wouldn't have to use that pry bar.
I have 2018 Ford Explorer xlt are all the bolt torque spec the same and if not where can I find
Is the 2016 Ford Edge v6 the same?
Trying to replace mine on a 2012 Ford Explorer XLT 4x4. Are the front and rear hubs the same? I can’t seem to find any that specifically say rear or front.
Yes they are the same
Noticed you didn't put the two springs back in the caliper. They not needed?
But he did, after the caliper was reinstalled

There goes the 1 hour job to 8 hour job 😢
So, I’m sure there is a good reason, but why can’t you use an impact to get the axle nut off?
+SVTStrikesback Thanks for checking us out! Using an impact wrench can damage the axle nut threads and shock the CV joints. If you are replacing these parts, it would be easier to use this however in this video we did not swap these out.
@@1AAuto thanks for the reply man! I figured it would be something along those lines.
How about the rear bearings?
+Adam yamaha Thanks for checking us out! I have provided the following link which will bring you to our video for the Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Assembly repair. Hope this helps you out! ruclips.net/video/FU9m7V3C1kc/видео.html
Umm may have over sold the ease of removing hub. Took over an hour with a hand sledge and a torch.
This job is not easy, getting the hub out is a nightmare. I have a tip
If you were stronger brut force would have gotten it
Never that easy
Even knowing the lugs would be replaced i still cringed watching you beat the threads off them with a hammer.
