  • Psychedelic Rock has been around as a genre for many years, but it was revitalised in the small city of Perth on the West Coast of Australia. Perth has produced some of the most successful Psych Rock acts of the past 15 years including Tame Impala, Methyl Ethel, Pond and Psychedelic Porn Crumpets. It may now be considered as the modern home of Psychedelic Rock. #psychrock #tameimpala

Just thought I should specify that Wolfmother were from Sydney, and heavily influenced the breakthrough success of the Perth Psych Rock scene. After watching back I realised it might have sounded like I said Wolfmother were from Perth which I know is definitely not the case, but it came out like that in the way I edited the video I think.

And even in Sydney there are bands like The Lazy Eyes, who have combined The Beatles songwriting characteristics with King Gizz.

I have a video suggestion for you?
A video about the Basement birds, the short lived supergroup of Kav Temperly, Josh Pyke and Kevin Mitchell

That first Wolfmother record is still a great listen. It's interesting looking back that that album was only 2 years before the first Tame Impala LP released. They seem much farther apart than just those two years.

Wolfmother's debut LP came out 2005. Half Full Glass of Wine was Tame's first single which came out in 2008. I remember hearing that song for the first time on Rage and thinking that this was the new Wolfmother. In 2010 they released innerspeaker. So it wasn't quite 2 years but yeh, in a few years time Tame had officially taken the baton from Wolfmother.
