I have never thought of going to greyscale to check if the light is actually working as a light, because sometimes I do feel some of my colors feels off and can't figure out why! That will help A LOT, thanks for the tip, dude

I thing the eye shape could also be changed to further improve this drawing. And also, the shadow next to the left eye behind the nose is a black colour (or it might be hair but it doesn't seem to be connected to the hair), it would be better to use a darker version of the skin colour that is more brown to show this shadow.

As someone who loves lip piercings especially snakebites, you want to place them to the side of the mouth and not the middle, unless you have one in the middle which is a lebret piercing! What I do bc I have snakebites on a lot of my characters is I imagine where a vampires fangs would be, which are usually off to the side and then if I’m feeling like it I’d draw a line in the middle of the lip to make sure that they r centred correctly !!
I ultimately gave up on colored drawings/art because I honestly can't tell shade depth for different colors. Like in this piece, when he says the purple is darker than the color used for the skin, my eyes just can't tell the difference. So my artistic output is pretty much confined to monochromatic (mostly pencil) pieces and through my job as a cosmetic dermatologist. It's a pretty tangential comment, but if you ever decide to get something like fillers or really anything that changes the face (like plastic/cosmetic surgery), you will have a higher success rate if you go to someone who is both qualified and has an artistic streak that shows they understand human anatomy and what looks attractive and natural to the eyes of observers.
Basically, you can have a light be darker than *some* of the skin, but only if it's from a minor lightsource away from the main one. So some skin is very light due to the main lightsource, and a minor weak light is adding a purplish tone to the part that is in shadow
I like binging all of these reels in a row because I can start to pick up the similarities and it actually sticks it's not all as daunting as it seems yk learning a few new things totally level you up
I'd say the eyes could use some slight adjustments just to make it more natural but otherwise it looks really good and I'm really looking forward to having my own tablet to practice!
