Zac Purchase went to my school and came to watch my crew at a regatta. He also presented us with our medals when we won :D
Ben Alexander Mark Hunter came to our school today cause he used to go to our secondary school but he presented us with our trophies so I got to touch his silver and gold medal, shake his hand twice ( cause I got two rewards) and have a picture with him 😏
im a member of Evesham Rowing Club where Zac used to go, ive met him and hes awesome, i was also coached by the guy who rowed with him in the double as juniors, Andrew Walker. they are both really cool guys
He broke the lw single sculls world record in a fluid design. 6:47 i think.
@NAXE5
For a lightweight double that's pretty comfortable, the top 3 in the olympics are usually within the same second
The Fillippi this a best boat at Double Sculls
Can you upload the full race?
whoa dude chill out. I know it's not an especially close race but it's not really comfortable either. The french pair won by about .8, and there was NOTHING comfortable about that victory. Denmark won these games comfortably in the LM4-, but "comfortable" here makes it seem like the commentator was actually trying to make it boring. LM4- 2010 had 1-2-3 within .1, but I can't think of any others off of the top of my head.
The original thought of having a lightweight class was to encourage less statuesque nations (e.g. China, japan) to participate in rowing. However if you look at the sport now there still are countries like Denmark, GB, France that dominate. If you look at the successful teams most of them are around 185 (around 10cm shorter than heavyweight). But still a good 13 cm above the average male adult male height in say China.
Everyone's rowing fillippi, although I'm surprised Zac hasn't converted to the 'dark side' and started rowing a fluidesign..after all, he IS apparently the GB fluidesign rep..
@NAXE5
Sorry, i mispoke. I believe it happened earlier in this years World Championships
@NAXE5 well truthfully compared to some races that was a comfortable victory
@lufc550 That has litterally never happend in the LM2X or LW2X in an olympic final. I checked.
do you have double sculls man video?
GO UK :)
why is there a lightweight class in rowing? Isn't body height a more determining factor? Wheight is something you can change, after all.
Also another reason there should be a height class is because having weight restrictions causes a lot of rowers to go to extremes to come under this limits. For instance they dehydrate themselves a couple of days before the competition. Also they go crazy about not adding muscle or doing strength training to avoid getting heavier.
Having a height restriction of for instance 180 would be better and suite the purpose of at all having a different class in rowing.
@robboman312 Oh I think it could happen,
