The courage they must have to be able to make a song with such "clean, straight forward and simplistic concept", trusting it will be enough - in both production of the song and in video making. In other words no hype, no fire works, no bombastic, crazy dance moves, no flashy cloths, glitz and naked skin to blind you with, just honest music and touching lyrics. I stan the right people.

BTS have always been good with making lyrics that kinda transcend time periods. Even with Spring Day it was written with the Sewol Ferry incident but the lyrics are written that you can relate to it if you've experienced any lost like death, life changes, losing relationships etc. Even their "fan songs" such as 2!3!, Magic Shop, Mikrokosmos, etc. are not directly lyrics that only harcore armys can relate to but anyone that uses music as a form of therapy (badum tish)
But it's interesting seeing how Jungkook sees and interprets films. Like he wrote and produced Your Eyes Tell for a Japanese drama based on him watching the movie and shows how he thinks as well.

The part where the camera focuses on Jin's face while everyone is sleeping behind, and then slowly moves away and shows everyone on stage ... I interpret it as a dream, since everyone was asleep except for Jin, and then He appears on stage and realizes that everyone else is there, that is, the seven are having the same dream of them on stage singing. It is a very strong scene if we analyze it from this point of view, because it means that his sadness and his desire to sing again for his fans is so great that literally the whole group dreams the same thing and they meet in the same shared dream , in his own desire. And the black and white scene speaks a lot about that sadness, that emptiness, also taking into account that our dreams reflect our concerns and repressed feelings, in this sense, the dark background of the stage can be the representation of its shadow, while They are that awareness, of what they most want to do right now, which is to appear on stage; this in turn shows us the enormous emotional load that BTS is carrying. I think that if ARMY had been in that little stadium, the image would not have been black and white.

The whole BE album is the ot7 version of Namjoon's mono. LGO is one of my favorite title tracks of theirs...it usually bothers me when people mention the "old bts" but you can really notice the western touch when you listen to their latest albums compared to Yoongi's D-2 or Namjoon's mono. This album took time and it took love and care and they had that time to their hands to put in those things because of C0VlD. I love all BTS albums but in a post-C0VlD timeline I would rather have a comeback a year or even two years, if that means we get masterpieces like BE. I love their success and their growth because they deserve it but being the biggest band in the world requires a lot of time. And I feel like that limits the time they get to dedicate to music. And they have so many important and great stories to tell, that's why I love them so much. I wish that future albums can also have their handprint like BE does.

The last black and white scene is almost a very perfect description of the situation we the fans, and BTS, the artists are in right now. Its done on a stage, and yes they are performing on it. But its not colourful with the fans there. Because the audience isn't there, it almost feels like yeah they are performing, but they miss the true colour and life that comes to a concert that comes with ARMY being there when they are performing. Hence the colours missing in that last scene.🥺🥺😭😭

I'm not longer interested in reaction channels but I keep coming to PD and this video definitely proves why I like what this channel does. I obviously love bts but after I hear what PD has to say about the MVs I always find myself appreciating more what goes on behind the work of every MV.
As for the music, I also agree that this feels more like what bts used to do, not in a bad sense, what I mean is that this feels more personal. I think is true that their tittle tracks always sound more commercial, I love their b-sides and I would put my hands on fire for any of their songs. Even if people leave bts bc they think they changed their music style, I've stayed with them for 6 years bc I love that they are able to always give something different and honest, which shows how they have been growing. I respect musicians that are able to show different sides of themselves bc I truly believe we are always changing and I'm not scared of that change, so seeing that being portrayed in a musician's career is inspiring. Also, when I found out about kpop I was young and obsessed with noisy music but now that I'm older, I appreciate more calm and meaningful songs. I still like noisy songs that make me wanna dance but I find myself forgetting about them after a while, but meaningful songs always get me. So in the end, is not only bts who is changing but I also believe I'm changing and growing with them. So grateful that I get the chance to grow with amazing musicians as bts.

same,, I get that reactors are partially armys but they obviously only react to BTS for views. they don't take the time to appreciate the symbolism and beauty of their art and when they do, it's ALWAYS wrongly executed. with pd, he analyses, appreciates and highlights the things that armys and he himself sees, which in this case, is rawness and intimacy.
if other youtubers say "wow, I'm crying this is so sad and beautiful" then pd probably says "wow, they have truly shown us that life does go on" and proceeds to narrate the whole probable production process and story that they portray

I agree with you 🥺 A lot of people do self promo for their channel on other people’s channels, but I’ve seen so many commends here about how there are no other reactors like PD and while he’s amazing, I love finding reactors that actually care about learning about the song. There’s a small RUclipsr channel Olivia Leverenz who didn’t start off as a reactor, but the first reaction video she did got a lot of attention from fans because of how detailed she was and how she cared about the music production, film and so people asked her to keep making them and that’s how I found her channel. RUclips keeps promoting reactors who just scream and want views, but if you are curious about other genuine reactors, I really recommend her channel because of how honest, in depth and detailed she is. There’s a lot of people who only react to kpop for clout and it sucks, but PD & Olivia’s videos aren’t like that. You can tell they both actually care about the meaning and message of the songs they listen to. I’m ARMY and I highly recommend her channel to ARMY or other people that are interested in listening to song breakdowns and meanings. This isn’t meant to disrespect PD by talking about another RUclipsr on here, I just think people would appreciate her videos too! 💜

I might be interpreting too much into this but to me it´s like V is "trapped" inside the car, he can´t go outside because of covid. And the camera is positioned in the passanger seat. It makes sense then why they wouldn´t show the car from outside, V can´t go out and neither can we, the camera/viewer. The intimate shots and close-ups of V make those scenes feel really intimate, as if we´re right next to him and can look at all of his micro-gestures and reactions. Combine that with the lyrics and you have this beautiful message of "I know it´s rough right now but we´re in this together". Furthermore, the lack of establishing shots (meaning shots that show the landscape or establish where we are in a broader sense) contributes to this feeling of being lost and not having anywhere to go. It seems like V is just mindlessly driving around without a destination in mind. That is, of course, until we see the stadium that becomes V´s goal. But he can´t exactly reach it either, as we, again, only see the stadium from inside the car and as (what I think) a memory. It´s also cool how the lyrics talk a lot about not knowing when this will be over, not wanting to get out of bed or even move at all but V´s car continues to go forward, and with it so do we. It´s really beautiful how such a simple thing as V driving can help drive the narrative so much. Jungkook did really good!

Do you remember that scene where Tae looks into the rearview mirror in the car and Jin turns to look back behind him? I think that's supposed to reflect Joon's lyrics in the beginning where he says something to the effect of "the world prompts me to press the dust-covered rewind" aka, these current hard times make me look back to a time when life was better. Plus, the scene right after this is all of them sitting in their dorm, watching old memories flit by in front of them. Super cool how they (JK?) chose to represent that visually in the MV because it took me a couple of times to notice what that Tae/Jin scene meant.
It's so interesting how they tie their past and future together because during that Tae/Jin scene, the lyrics are "Close your eyes for a moment / Hold my hand / To that future, let's run away". They're looking back to their past, but the lyrics talk about running to their future. And at the very end of the MV where it's the same lyrics, we have that black and white shot of them in concert attire- their past and future are the same. Concerts. Connecting with fans. This comparison just reinforces the idea that they're having a hard time because of that lost connection, which makes it infinitely more personal and intimate, like you mentioned.
Thank you for this video! It deepened my understanding and made me appreciate the filming even more.

This song already doesn’t have strings attached to covid for me. My life was put on hold a couple years back, right around the time of Spring Day, due to medical issues. It’s still on hold now. Yet it still goes on. It’s not how i wanted it to go, sure, but it’s here. I’m alive. My friends are staying constant and BTS is another constant since then. It’ll be okay. Things keep persisting. We’ll be okay.

If you take into consideration the fact that Jungkook is currently in film school, and the other fact that he has spent a large portion of his life on MV sets, my guess is that he knows about color grading and how to do it. It's not a trade secret. Anyone who works in film or commercial photography understands it. And he probably also knows how to assign the task to a team and direct them to carry out his vision.

i never sit through reaction videos but your take on jungkooks direction and the overall impact of this music video made me smile truthfully. i appreciate the care and way you perceived it. i definitely agree that the emotional touch and warmth of the meaning visual of the mv was heavily influenced by jungkooks eye. he said it himself that he tried his best to capture the members in a completely warm and human-spirited light that is all the more in touch and relatable to anyone finding out about LGO (post pandemic and current). as a spring day enthusiast, LGO is by far my favorite mv. its so personal and im very much attracted to the idea that, yes bts are hit global stars, but they are also humans who do mundane things like any other, and its really nice to see this side of them. LGO seems more sincere and genuine in mentioning a promise of things continuing to move and change and shift. a promise that is both a fact yet not overbearing like the other people pushing positivity down our throats (such as toxic statements as "god planned for this to come we must trust in him and be grateful and see the positive", or even ones that are like you have said tone-deaf). theyve read the room and delivered honesty which i mostly appreciate and love about them. after going through BE, the whole album really delivered the message they wanted to convey and it is very much healing. LGO is still my fav track, something about a warm blanket or the feeling of coming home or what home should feel like. personally relating to the song, there are many things i miss and many things we cant take back. me being in a dark few months the moment this dropped a good kind of cry came over me and the baggage feels lifted, being aware that the dark will come to consume me again, it is nice to keep simple small joys like music to remind you that you can be happy and be filled with relief sometimes when you feel like the world is swallowing you whole or draining you. ive sent the song to my non-army irls and the amount of people this has helped without a doubt makes me so happy knowing smth i found joy in has impacted someone else as we are all going through this year on clutches on all sides.
this was a rather long tangent but i really felt inspired to write this to you after listening to your review on LGO for the first time. thank you as always for the content you put out and being genuine while youre at it ✨ Please take care !

    i love that you’re supporting LV bangtan and that you uploaded this after the first 24h launch period of the mv. thanks for the video, pd! the homey parts were actually shot in their dorms, so the couch scenes, the plants (the bonsai is RM's), everything displayed there is actually already theirs, but i believe someone from MU:E (the art team taking part on this mv) could've actually tweaked a few things (like, the room has a couple of objects that single-reminisce a few of the members: V's photography, Jin's keyboard, the black guitar that could be Jungkook's or Yoongi's, RM's ceramics on the shelves...). V was assigned the role of visual director on the album, so he might've had a touch on the MV's outfits too, i guess, as Jungkook should've taken part in the editing process as an opinion giver /at least/ for the coloring (this MV has his GCF low saturation and warmth style written all over it??? reminds me of the helsinki one) since all the members actively took part in the entire making process for the album!! he also said that the last shots in the empty arena were planned with the company for them to record after their ON:E online concert, the bokeh lights in the back are army bombs that they placed on each of the seats :'( really exciting to see all this for the first time, i hope they release more behind the scenes so we get to know how a bit more of everything was done ;;

So many intimate nuances of small but suddenly impactful (due to quarantine) things are depicted here.. In a small way as well. Like how Namjoon is picking dust off the not ridden for some time bicycle.. That moment when Tae drives past the stadium.. The end of the tunnel reference. At the end where they are seen singing during a virtual concert. Also the fact that Tae is driving alone but remembers all his member. Also how they are all spending their day and night watching some stuff or gaming haha.. So many things it feels very warm and cozy at the same nostalgic emo vibe too

  • @littleruiners
    @littleruiners 3 года назад +6

This album definitely embraces every little detail that each member can bring to the table. While the MV represents JK's mind and the other members' thoughts as well (even he said "I included the bike in that particular shot cause Namjoon loves his bike'), the photobook brings another intimate moment, cause some of the photos where also shot there by the members themselves and I believe it was an amazing touch to add some particular cards in the album, as in there are photos and even the image of Yoongi's painting. That specific ideas are a gift to the Armys that no professionals would have brought out, those ideas are what makes BTS stand out of all the industry. They are a very nice and personal touch to add at their peak of their career.

    just some extra info/context/comment:
the initial scenes were shot at their dorm/house. the bedroom is hobi & jimin's shared room (the bed is the same but they changed everything else). You see their actual shelf moved out to the balcony and they moved an "aesthetic" shelf into the bedroom. The living room is also the actual living room of bts' house. I see that they have the same couch and chandelier and fridge (seen through their bon voyage & vlive footages), but the other cosmetic decor were not there before. maybe except for the bonsai, which belongs to namjoon. (he named it and all haha)
jungkook also said that he brought namjoon's bike onto the balcony bc namjoon likes to bike and he thought it would add a nice story element to the mv.
the location where they shot the camping trip footage is also where IU's house scene is shot in her Eight MV.
the stadium at the end they sang in is the one where they had their virtual MOTS:One concert. They said they filmed it after day 2 of their concert and they did actually sing that part live on stage in front of all the army bombs. the black and white feel very nostalgic. jungkook made jin shoot the "closing eyes" clip 8 times bc he didnt like the way jin closed his eyes lol.
and yeah jungkook did say he filmed some of the scenes haha.
i loved the part where the lyrics go "there's no exit in sight" and they exit the tunnel with light washing over everything. and Tae looking at the stadium scene made me cry.

Yes!! You can totally see the personal/intimate touches that are so indisputably /jungkook/ and makes this mv so relatable to all of us. I like to think that the message that "this is difficult because we miss you" is something that came naturally bc they are innately down-to-earth and incredibly grateful people, and producing something that is a subtle/unconscious flex of their privilege isn't something that would even cross their minds.

I almost feel like BH is slowly giving them more power over their own work. Almost all of the boys (I think Kook is the outlier here if I'm remembering correctly) are enrolled in university and majoring in business. They're also now all shareholders of the company. I feel like someday they might actually be handed the reins to the company or something of the sort. Seems a bit delusional now, but idk.

this song was perfect. For me, i think I'd mark this song as the day i got back into BTS. I took a break from kpop from the end of 2018 to the entire year of 2019. And i got out of it bc i was pretty young and stupid before and did a lot of things I regret. But This year i got back into kpop. But i still a little wary of BTS and calling myself an ARMY.
I still love the boys, I always have since 2015 when I first heard Dope. Some part of me was still scared of calling myself an ARMY. And I dont even know why it took me this long, almost 2 years to date, to get back into BTS and calling myself an ARMY.
But this song, was absolutely perfect. It had the vibes of old BTS' songs. There's not really a specific sound, but it just feels like home. It reminds me of Spring Day. It feels like home.
And besides that, this whole song's message was beautiful. Because no matter what happens in life, Life Goes On. No matter what. It can be cruel at times, but it can also bring peace.

To me there’s something very hopeful about the stadium scene. It’s both an acknowledgment of the moment’s limitations, and a nod to the fact that we very much can adapt to those limitations until they’re gone. As they say, life goes on. We can find a way to make many things work until this all ends. Things can’t be what they used to be. That doesn’t mean we won’t have some beautiful moments.

It’s just what i observed on twt but Ive noticed that older armys from 2013-14-15-16 liked this album more since theyve started changing their sound during ly her dna era 2017

I really don't like the title track like dna boy whit love or dynamite, it's seems too much commercial for me. I prefer the b track, but i really love the lys era

I feel like the album has a very old school bts to it sprinkled with the new bts. I was the exception where I didn't immediately love the album but on the second listen, I definitely prefer this over many of their LY tracks.

Thanks for your honest opinion! You’re my fav reviewer because ur honest and go deep. Yes definitely sounds like old school bts , which I like those songs better. There newer songs are more americanised. Life goes on was written by RM, Ruuth, Chris James, Antonina Armato, Suga, and J-Hope are credited as songwriters.

I was so happy to see this from BTS. After all of the English songs and songs that were trying to be marketed to a global audience it was nice to see a song in Korean and something that isn’t as mainstream. It’s my type of song.
